Mounted level on a wall plate, high enough for the air to reach the whole room, with enough space around it to slide the filters out easily.
The refrigerant lines, the communication cable and the drain go through the wall in a single opening, sealed against water, cold air and insects.
Two insulated copper pipes connect the two units. Outside, a line cover can protect them from sun, knocks and weather.
A shut-off switch near the outdoor unit isolates it safely for service. It must stay accessible at all times.
The compressor and the fan. In heating mode it captures heat from the outdoor air, even in winter, and moves it inside.
On the ground or on the wall, it keeps the unit above accumulated snow. The unit stays clear and defrost water can drain away.
The fan needs to blow freely. Storage, a fence or a wall too close, and efficiency drops while noise goes up.
Modern comfort in a Montreal home
In the Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension neighborhood, our team recently completed the installation of aMidea wall-mounted heat pump in a renovated, contemporary-style home. The client was looking for a solution that combined efficient heating in winter and effective air conditioning in summer , while blending harmoniously into the minimalist interior of their living space.
A thoughtful choice: the Midea wall-mounted heat pump
The decision to opt for a Midea heat pump was a natural one. This brand is renowned for its robust and energy-efficient equipment, adapted to Quebec's climatic realities. Key benefits include:
-
Four-season performance , capable of operating effectively down to -25°C.
-
Eligibility for provincial and federal grant programs through its Energy Star certification.
-
Discreet and modern design , which fits perfectly against a white wall in an open space.
-
Quiet operation , essential in a family environment.
Installation details
Optimal positioning of the indoor unit
The unit was mounted high on a central wall near the staircase, ensuring even airflow to the living room and kitchen. This placement was chosen to optimize airflow and maximize the comfort zone without cluttering the space.
Connection management
-
Precise wall drilling to connect the indoor unit to the outdoor compressor with reduced tubing length.
-
Discreet electrical wiring , routed vertically along the wall and protected by finely fitted capping.
-
Gravity drainage of condensates, avoiding the need for a pump and reducing the need for maintenance.
Constraints and solutions provided
The configuration of the wall adjacent to a window and a staircase required careful planning. Our installers adjusted the installation height and alignment to ensure safety, energy efficiency, and aesthetics . Particular attention was paid to the wall-mounted thermostat, which was installed at an accessible height and on a clear surface.
Final result and customer satisfaction
Upon commissioning, the customer immediately noted:
-
Fast, even freshness throughout the room.
-
Quiet operation, perfect for an open plan living space.
-
A system ready to face the bitter cold of winter thanks to Midea's Inverter technology.
The start-up was accompanied by a detailed demonstration by our team: use of the remote control, programming of seasonal modes, and maintenance tips such as regular cleaning of filters and annual inspection of ducts .

How it goes, from the first call to the end
The main steps of this kind of job at AirGreen. Every house has its quirks: the estimate brings them out.
We look at the room, the outside wall, the line route and where the outdoor unit will go. That is where the capacity gets chosen.
Model, capacity and price, in writing. We also check whether the model qualifies for assistance programs.
Floors and furniture protected, wall plate position marked level, wall opening located.
A single opening, with the slope the drain needs to flow outside.
Set on a stand raised above the snow, with the clearances the manufacturer requires.
Connected, insulated and protected. The opening is then sealed against water, cold air and insects.
A dedicated circuit and an accessible disconnect near the outdoor unit.
Leak test, vacuum, then start-up and a check of heating and cooling.
Remote, modes, filters: we show you the essentials before we leave.

And at your place?
Two quick checks with real numbers: what heat costs, and what your current heaters add up to in BTU/h.
Conversion: 1 W = 3.412 BTU/h. An indication, not a load calculation: baseboards and furnaces are often stronger than the real need, and they can stay as backup. AirGreen confirms the capacity on site.
What to do, season by season
