Installation of a Sharp wall-mounted heat pump in Chomedey (Laval)

A clean, quiet installation designed for our winters — by AirGreen

Customer context and objective

At AirGreen , we were commissioned in Chomedey (Laval) to modernize the comfort of a single-family home with a Sharp wall-mounted heat pump . The request: a discreet system, efficient in air conditioning in the summer and efficient in intermediate heating in the spring/fall, with a durable and aesthetic HVAC installation .

Equipment Overview

  • Brand: Sharp ( Eco Inverter and Plasmacluster technology for better air quality).

  • Type: mini-split wall-mounted heat pump (outdoor condenser + indoor head).

  • Refrigerant: recent generation compliant with current requirements (installation ready for applicable efficiency programs).

  • Noise and efficiency: modulating operation, ideal for reducing on/off cycles and consumption.

Desired result: stable comfort, controlled energy bills and optimized air quality thanks to Plasmacluster ionization.

What we delivered

Neat and perfectly aligned refrigeration path

  • White capping (technical chute) vertical for approximately 2.5 to 3 m , then horizontal section to neatly reach the entry point.

  • Single perforation with vapor barrier and continuous insulation of refrigerant connections to limit losses and condensation.

  • Communication and power cabling grouped in the same trunking for a clean appearance and easy maintenance.

Outdoor installation designed for the Quebec winter

  • Sharp condenser installed on sturdy wall brackets , clear of the ground to prevent snow accumulation and promote defrost flow.

  • Anti-vibration feet and level balancing to reduce noise transmission into masonry.

  • Side and rear clearances respected to ensure optimal airflow during defrost cycles.

Condensate management

  • Gravity drainage to the outside (no pump required), reducing maintenance and the risk of additional breakdowns.

  • Controlled slope and exit protected from passages to avoid icicles in winter.

Architectural integration

  • Harmonization of the white capping with the pale brick of the facade: rectilinear lines, minimal visible stainless steel screws, clean finishes to the right of the covers.

  • Installation height chosen to combine aesthetics, silence and service accessibility.

Construction site challenges and AirGreen solutions

1) Respect for clear masonry

The pale brick facade required a clean, straight and unblemished drainpipe.
Our approach: laser tracing, low-impact drilling, dust protection and careful sealing at the finish.

2) Snow/icing clearance

The ground receives accumulations at the bottom of the wall.
Our answer: brackets at calculated height, compliant rear clearance and fan orientation to evacuate hot air during defrosting without nuisance.

3) Mixed vertical + horizontal path

The inner head was located at the wall return.
Solution: a short, well-fixed horizontal section to reach the most discreet entry point and limit the refrigerated length.

Why this Sharp heat pump ?

  • Inverter modulation : adjusts power as needed, limits overconsumption and increases continuous comfort.

  • Air quality : Plasmacluster ionization reduces odors and particles indoors.

  • Reliability : proven components, clear service access, parts and support available in Quebec.

What this changes on a daily basis

  • Immediate comfort : gentle temperature rise, uniform air conditioning in summer.

  • Silence : controlled vibrations, exterior noise level reduced by installation on brackets and alignment of the blades during defrosting.

  • Savings : modulation + good sealing of the route reduce consumption compared to an all-or-nothing device.

Good HVAC Maintenance Practices

  • Clean the internal filters every 1–2 months during peak periods.

  • Gently rinse the outdoor unit in spring; clear leaves and snow around it.

  • Have annual HVAC maintenance carried out: pressure/temperature check, electrical tightening, defrost test and leak test.

Grants and Eligibility

Depending on the configuration (seasonal yields, nominal temperatures), programs may apply to Greater Montreal ( Montreal , Laval , Longueuil , North Shore , South Shore ). We support our clients to validate eligibility and optimize the file.

What AirGreen brings in addition

  • Route design : we think about the line before the drill—less length, less waste, better aesthetics.

  • Finishes : aligned capping, stainless steel fixings, clean seals, service labeling.

  • Service : local team, parts available and technicians trained in recent generations R-32 / R-454B .

Tips before choosing

  1. Prioritize an installer who is proficient in defrosting : clearances and condensate drainage are essential.

  2. Validate the planned refrigeration length ; beyond certain limits, refrigerant top-up and loss calculations are required.

  3. Require a documented commissioning test (high vacuum, leak test, readings).

  4. Think about maintenance from the moment you buy: filter access, card access, service release.
