Installation of a Sharp wall-mounted heat pump in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie (Montreal)

A precision-designed urban construction site: silence, performance and impeccable integration into a typical Rosemont alleyway
At AirGreen , we know that a wall-mounted heat pump project in a dense environment requires more than good performance: it requires a careful, quiet , durable and aesthetically pleasing installation. For this townhouse in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie (Montreal) , we installed a new-generation Sharp , tuned to provide precise comfort all year round and respectful of the neighborhood.

The customer context and our objectives

The owner wanted:

  • stable cooling of the living room and kitchen in summer;

  • efficient supplementary heating during the off-season to reduce dependence on electric baseboards;

  • discreet integration at the back of the house, without obstructing the sliding window;

  • a quiet solution on the alley and neighbor side.

Our solution: a Sharp wall-mounted heat pump ( inverter technology) sized according to the volume of the room and the thermal load of the home, with particular care given to the treatment of vibrations and the routing of the connections .

Technical realization - what we do, according to the rules of the art

1) Positioning and external support

The condenser is placed on anti-vibration supports and positioned for:

  • leave clearances in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations (air intake/discharge);

  • preserve access to the window;

  • facilitate maintenance (covers, fittings, service valve).

The rear wall has a painted brick facing : we favored drilling the mortar joint , a technique which avoids cracking the bricks, guarantees a clean repair and preserves the integrity of the envelope.

2) Refrigeration connections and facade aesthetics

The insulated copper pipes, communication cable, and power supply are grouped together in a perfectly straight brown vertical capping . Benefits:

  • protection of insulation against UV rays and shocks;

  • sober visual line which fits into the rhythm of the masonry;

  • simplified access for any future intervention.

The path leading up to the upper floor required careful control of the radii of curvature and anchor points in order to avoid any hard points and to guarantee the longevity of the connections.

3) Condensate management — the invisible ally of comfort

The configuration requires a rise in the networks towards the interior head: we installed a compact and silent condensate pump , with:

  • controlled slope at the start of the ferry;

  • anti-siphon device to prevent flow noise;

  • protected and non-return path to secure evacuation.
    This approach ensures reliable operation in air conditioning mode without the risk of leakage, even in high humidity conditions.

4) Proper and safe electrical connection

  • Dedicated circuit from the electrical panel, calibrated according to the nominal intensity of the machine;

  • external disconnect box in view, for maintenance operations;

  • grounding and checking the tightening torque on each terminal.

5) Brazing, testing, vacuum and commissioning

  • Brazing under nitrogen and pressure testing in accordance with the manufacturer's thresholds;

  • Deep vacuum drawing until a stable micron level is reached, then resistance test;

  • Opening of the factory refrigerant charge and adjustment if necessary according to the actual length of the lines;

  • Reading of parameters (air/line temperatures, intensity, pressure) in cooling then in heating to validate seasonal efficiency and inverter modulation.

Why a wall-mounted Sharp for a Rosemont home?

Comfort and consistency thanks to the inverter

Inverter technology continuously adjusts the power: the temperature stabilizes smoothly, with a low noise level both inside and outside. In cooler weather, the machine provides particularly economical supplemental heating compared to baseboard heaters.

Energy efficiency and savings

Sharp 's recent series are distinguished by competitive SEER2/HSPF2 and precise electronic control. The result: controlled kWh throughout the year and four-season comfort .

Discretion for the neighborhood

  • Anti-vibration pads under the unit;

  • Path of the discharged air oriented to avoid wall resonance;

  • Capping that cleanly channels the networks and avoids visual “clutter” at the back of the yard.

AirGreen Site Challenges and Responses

Close window and narrow passage

We positioned the condenser to free the opening and maintain maintenance clearances . The capping is centered, plumb, and follows a strict geometry to provide a clean aesthetic seen from the interior as well as from the alley.

Structural noise in dense environments

In addition to the studs , we checked the frequency regime at startup and under full load to exclude resonances in the facing. The result is a minimal noise level perceptible to neighbors.

Montreal winter and condensation

In heating mode, defrost cycles can generate water: our layout keeps the flow away from the passage area and door sills. Sensitive surfaces are protected against splashing and freezing .

Concrete results for the client

  • Rapid cooling of living rooms in summer;

  • Flexible heating in mid-season, with reduction in the electricity bill ;

  • Silence in the courtyard and in the house;

  • A clean , straight and durable installation, ready for many years of service.

AirGreen Tips for Homeowners in Greater Montreal

Best HVAC Installation Practices

  • Promote drilling at the mortar joint and compatible seals ;

  • Maintain air clearances around the condenser;

  • Protect the connections with UV capping ;

  • Provide an accessible electrical disconnection ;

  • In the event of a rise, choose a quiet and well-installed condensate pump .

HVAC maintenance : simple and profitable

  • Clean the inner head filters every 4 to 8 weeks during the season;

  • Clear leaves and dust around the condenser;

  • Plan an annual visit : pressure/temperature check, tightening, condition of insulation, condensate pump test, battery cleaning.

Grants and Eligibility

High-efficiency wall-mounted heat pumps designed for cold weather can provide access to assistance programs in Quebec (criteria: SEER2/HSPF2, minimum operating temperature, certification, installation by a licensed contractor). At AirGreen, we verify the measures in force and we support you through the process .
