An under-structure installation: a challenge met with precision
At AirGreen , we recently completed a Fujitsu Airstage central heat pump installation in a property in the Sainte-Rose district of Laval . This project stood out due to the complexity of its environment: the outdoor unit had to be installed under a floor structure, in a confined space, while respecting the performance, safety and durability requirements specific to our AirGreen standards.
An atypical installation environment
The client's chosen location provided a protected space, but required careful planning. The Fujitsu Airstage unit, designed for residential and semi-commercial applications, was fixed to a raised concrete slab , ensuring a solid and perfectly level base despite the gravel floor.
Our technicians adjusted the height to ensure optimal ventilation of the condenser, even in a partially confined space, while respecting the necessary clearances for air circulation and maintenance.
Technical details of the installation
-
Make and Model: Fujitsu Airstage (R-32 Compatible High Efficiency System)
-
Type: Central ducted heat pump
-
Outdoor location: Under structure, semi-open space, protected from the elements
-
Base: Insulated and vibrated concrete slab, on a bed of compacted gravel
-
Power supply: Direct connection to dedicated circuit breaker with accessible cut-off box
-
Refrigerant connections: Piping protected under white insulating sheath, securely fixed and secured
-
Drainage: Gravity routing, without condensate pump
-
Insulation: Ducts carefully sheathed to prevent condensation and energy loss
Each step was carried out in compliance with HVAC standards and RBQ regulations , thus ensuring a compliant, durable system that is perfectly integrated into the configuration of the house.
Why the Fujitsu Airstage system?
Fujitsu's Airstage range is renowned for its exceptional reliability , high energy efficiency , and stable operation down to -26°C . It is an ideal solution for Quebec climates, where temperature variations require robust and efficient systems.
In addition, recent Airstage models are compatible with Quebec energy efficiency grant programs, such as Rénoclimat or Hydro-Québec , offering homeowners substantial long-term savings .
Challenges encountered and AirGreen solutions
1. Limited space
The main constraint of this project was the limited height under the structure. Our technicians had to adapt the supports and adjust the positioning to maintain a safe distance between the top of the condenser and the frame. Particular attention was paid to air circulation to avoid any hot recirculation that would be detrimental to performance.
2. Cabling and conduit management
All electrical and refrigerant conduits have been carefully arranged and secured, ensuring a clean, protected, and aesthetically pleasing route. The use of heat-resistant black tubing and cable ties ensures maximum durability, even in humid environments.
3. Protection from the elements
Although the condenser is sheltered from direct rainfall, we added a slight drainage slope under the slab to prevent water accumulation and provide natural ventilation from below the structure.
Long-lasting, quiet performance
The Fujitsu Airstage is distinguished by a reduced noise level , a variable speed inverter compressor , and automatic optimization of the refrigeration load , allowing constant comfort with minimal consumption .
Combined with an AirGreen installation that meets the highest standards, this system guarantees exceptional seasonal efficiency (up to 21 SEER) and an HSPF efficiency greater than 10 , values that translate directly into concrete energy savings for the customer.

Subsidies and energy efficiency
Fujitsu Airstage heat pumps are eligible for grant programs offered by Hydro-Québec and Transition Énergétique Québec . These financial aid programs encourage homeowners to replace their old heating systems with more environmentally friendly and economical technologies.
Thanks to its R-32 refrigerant , which is more environmentally friendly and has a low global warming potential (GWP) , this heat pump actively contributes to reducing the residential carbon footprint .
