Installation of a Fujitsu RLXFZH DoubleZone Heat Pump in Le Sud-Ouest

Efficient Comfort Delivered in Record Time – A New Installation by AirGreen

At AirGreen, we take pride in delivering the finest HVAC solutions across Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, and both the North and South Shores. Our recent installation in Le Sud-Ouest showcases our commitment to providing tailored heating and cooling systems that meet the unique needs of every household. With this project, we installed a Fujitsu RLXFZH DoubleZone Heat Pump, ensuring efficient, reliable comfort in even the harshest climates. Here’s how we made it happen.

The Challenge: Extreme Climate, Demanding Needs

Our client in Le Sud-Ouest had specific requirements for their home: they needed a system that could provide cooling during Montreal’s warm summers and still operate efficiently during the frigid winter months, where temperatures can drop well below freezing. Energy efficiency, cost savings, and a fast, non-invasive installation were the top priorities. We knew that the Fujitsu RLXFZH DoubleZone Heat Pump was the perfect fit for this scenario, and our team was excited to take on the challenge.

The Fujitsu RLXFZH DoubleZone Heat Pump: A Technical Powerhouse

What makes the Fujitsu RLXFZH DoubleZone stand out? Let’s dive into the details:

  • Compressor Capacity: This system boasts an impressive 36,000 BTU compressor. This means the heat pump can handle the heating and cooling of large areas, making it ideal for homes with varying climate control needs.

  • Independent Zones: The DoubleZone functionality allows for two distinct zones with independent temperature controls. In this installation, we equipped one zone with a 12,000 BTU indoor unit and another with a 24,000 BTU indoor unit. This setup allows our client to heat or cool specific areas based on their preference—whether it's the living room, bedroom, or any other zone.

  • Energy Star Certified: The RLXFZH model is Energy Star® certified, ensuring optimal energy efficiency. With 20.0 SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio), this system is designed to minimize energy consumption while maximizing comfort—ultimately translating into significant savings on electricity bills.

  • Extreme Cold Climate Performance: This heat pump can continue providing heat even at an astounding -26°C! For those living in Montreal, where winter nights can get bone-chilling, this feature is essential.

The Installation: Efficiency Meets Precision

When it comes to HVAC installations, we don’t just meet expectations; we exceed them. The installation of this Fujitsu RLXFZH DoubleZone Heat Pump was completed within a single day, minimizing any disruption to the client’s routine. Our team of expert technicians began with the outdoor compressor unit, carefully placing it in a discrete location outside the client’s home. Measuring 39.31 x 14.56 x 38.19 inches, the outdoor unit fit perfectly in the allotted space while ensuring easy access for future maintenance.

We followed up by installing the indoor units—one 12,000 BTU unit in the client’s bedroom and a 24,000 BTU unit in the living area. This setup allows for individualized climate control, offering the client maximum flexibility in managing their indoor environment. Whether they need extra warmth in the living room during gatherings or cooler temperatures in the bedroom during sleep, this system handles it all seamlessly.

Each indoor unit was mounted on the wall with precision, making sure to maintain an aesthetically pleasing appearance while optimizing airflow. Once mounted, our team tested the entire system to ensure everything functioned flawlessly.

The Benefits: Why Our Client Chose the Fujitsu RLXFZH DoubleZone Heat Pump

There are many reasons why this particular model of heat pump is gaining popularity across Montreal, Laval, and beyond. Here’s why our client was thrilled with their choice:

1. Cost Savings with LogisVert Grant

Not only does the Fujitsu RLXFZH DoubleZone offer fantastic energy efficiency, but it is also eligible for the LogisVert Grant by Hydro-Québec. Our client was able to receive a generous $2,568 rebate, making the investment even more attractive.

2. Quiet Operation

With an exterior sound pressure level of only 55 dB(A), the system is one of the quietest on the market. This was an important factor for our client, who valued peace and quiet at home. Now, they can enjoy unparalleled comfort without the disruptive noise associated with traditional systems.

3. Long-Term Reliability

This heat pump comes with an extended warranty covering the compressor, parts, and labor for 10 years. This warranty gives the client peace of mind, knowing they’re protected against potential issues for the next decade.

What we check on a job like this one

Each number is a point we check on site. Switch between summer and winter to watch air and heat move.

In summer, the outdoor unit rejects the house's heat outside.

    1. Mounted level on a wall plate, high enough for the air to reach the whole room, with enough space around it to slide the filters out easily.

    2. The refrigerant lines, the communication cable and the drain go through the wall in a single opening, sealed against water, cold air and insects.

    3. Two insulated copper pipes connect the two units. Outside, a line cover can protect them from sun, knocks and weather.

    4. A shut-off switch near the outdoor unit isolates it safely for service. It must stay accessible at all times.

    5. The compressor and the fan. In heating mode it captures heat from the outdoor air, even in winter, and moves it inside.

    6. On the ground or on the wall, it keeps the unit above accumulated snow. The unit stays clear and defrost water can drain away.

    7. The fan needs to blow freely. Storage, a fence or a wall too close, and efficiency drops while noise goes up.

    Frequently asked questions

What people ask us about this kind of work

    12 questions
Does a wall-mounted heat pump heat in winter?
Yes, it heats and cools. Its capacity drops in very cold weather; the operating range depends on the model and is listed on its spec sheet.
    Wall-mounted or multi-zone: how do I choose?
One wall head and one condenser outside: the direct solution for a room or an open area. For two to five rooms, a multi-zone puts one head in each room on a single condenser.
Where does the outdoor unit go?
Where it stays above the snow, clear and accessible, away from walkways. We decide it with you during the estimate.
    Are there grants?
Depending on the model and your situation, assistance programs may apply, including Hydro-Québec's LogisVert. AirGreen checks the model number before quoting an amount. See the grants.
    Do I need a permit?
Rules vary from city to city: location, distances, noise. See permits and by-laws, and we check for your address.
    How cold can it heat?
It depends on the model. According to Hydro-Québec, newer models work down to a temperature between −15 °C and −25 °C, and some cold-climate models are certified lower. The minimum temperature is on each unit's spec sheet.
    How much can I save?
Hydro-Québec says a heat pump can be up to three times more efficient than baseboards for heating in the colder months. The result depends on the house, the climate and how it is used.
How is the LogisVert assistance calculated?
For ENERGY STAR cold-climate certified heat pumps, Hydro-Québec lists assistance of $120 per 1,000 BTU/h of heating capacity at −8 °C. AirGreen checks the exact model before quoting an amount; only Hydro-Québec confirms the assistance granted. See the grants.
    Is it noisy?
The sound level depends on the model and is listed in decibels on each unit's spec sheet. Location matters too: when possible, we avoid putting the outdoor unit under a bedroom window.
The outdoor unit is covered in ice: is that normal?
Some frost is: the unit runs defrost cycles. Never hit the ice. If the unit stays iced up or stops heating, call us.
Does AirGreen hold the required licences?
Yes. AirGreen holds RBQ licence 5645-9605-01, subclasses 15.8 Ventilation, 15.10 Refrigeration and 16 Electricity.
    Is the estimate free?
Yes. The on-site estimate is free and the quote follows within 24 hours. Book my free estimate.
