Installation of a Gree wall-mounted heat pump in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie

In Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie, many families have transformed their basements into true living spaces: family rooms, TV areas, playrooms, or waiting areas for guests. This is precisely the case with this project, where our client wanted to make a large basement room more comfortable, both in summer and winter, without sacrificing aesthetics or floor space.

To meet this need, we recommended and installed a high-efficiency Gree wall-mounted heat pump , perfectly suited to the realities of Montreal's climate.

The context: a multi-purpose room to be heated and cooled

The room in question is a large rectangular room in the basement, with:

  • Suspended ceiling typical of finished basements;

  • Wall clear from top to bottom, ideal for accommodating a wall unit;

  • Light furniture (row of wooden chairs, waiting area / relaxation corner);

  • Light-colored flooring that reflects natural and artificial light well.

Before our intervention, the part suffered from two classic problems :

  1. Marked coolness in winter , especially near exterior walls;

  2. Stagnant heat in summer , difficult to remove without a dedicated air conditioning system.

Our objective was therefore twofold:

  • Ensuring 4-season comfort for the whole family;

  • Integrate the solution discreetly and harmoniously into an already furnished space.

The chosen solution: a high-efficiency Gree wall-mounted heat pump

We recommended the installation of a Gree wall-mounted heat pump of approximately 12,000 BTU , an ideal capacity for this type of room in the basement.

Four-season comfort for the Montreal climate

The chosen Gree wall-mounted heat pump allows for:

  • Efficient heating in winter , even during the marked cold typical of Montreal;

  • Precise air conditioning in summer , with excellent humidity control;

  • Dehumidification mode is practical in the mid-seasons, when the air becomes heavy without it being really hot.

Thanks to variable speed compressor (inverter) technology, the machine automatically adjusts its power according to the needs, which allows:

  • A stable temperature , without sudden variations;

  • Optimized energy consumption , therefore reduced electricity bills compared to electric baseboards alone.

Silence and comfort in a living room

In a room used for relaxation or entertaining guests, noise is a key factor. The installed Gree wall-mounted heat pump offers:

  • Very quiet operation in normal mode;

  • A “silent” mode that is particularly appreciated when the room serves as a TV corner or a quiet waiting room;

  • A gentle and even distribution of air throughout the room.

A neat and discreet installation

The photo clearly shows that the indoor unit is placed high up, just below the suspended ceiling , centered above a row of chairs. This positioning is not accidental.

Optimal positioning of the indoor unit

We have chosen:

  • A clear wall , without tall furniture or obstacles;

  • A generous installation height , allowing the air to mix better before descending;

  • An airflow direction oriented slightly forward , to avoid a direct draft on seated persons.

Result: the room is well air-conditioned and heated, while guaranteeing maximum comfort for the occupants .

Connection routing and condensate management

Although it's not visible in the photo, a large part of our work takes place behind the wall:

  • Refrigerant lines (insulated copper) carefully covered and routed to the outside;

  • Condensate drain installed with an adequate slope to allow gravity drainage of water produced in air conditioning mode;

  • Sealing and insulation of the wall penetration to prevent air and cold infiltration.

When gravity doesn't allow it, we can add a discreet condensate pump . In this project, the basement configuration allowed us to maintain a simple and very quiet solution.

Aesthetic integration into the room

The compact, white Gree wall unit blends perfectly into:

  • The pale grey paint on the wall;

  • The clear suspended ceiling ;

  • The warm wooden furniture retains all the character of the room.

We always ensure that our installations are as discreet as possible : no exposed cables, no visible ducts in the living area. The goal is for the heat pump to blend into the decor, without dominating it.

The advantages of a Gree wall-mounted heat pump for a house in Rosemont

Choosing a Gree wall-mounted heat pump in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie means investing in a solution that ticks several important boxes.

Energy efficiency and savings

Compared to purely electric baseboard heating:

  • The heat pump uses 1 kWh of electricity to provide up to 3 kWh of heat (and sometimes more), depending on the conditions;

  • Energy bills decrease significantly, especially if the room was previously difficult to heat;

  • In summer, air conditioning is also more economical than a portable or window air conditioner.

Comfort in the Quebec climate

Montreal's climate, with its significant temperature variations between January and July, demands versatile systems. The Gree wall-mounted heat pump offers:

  • An extended operating range in heating;

  • Precise management of temperature and humidity ;

  • A gradual start that avoids heatstroke or chills.

For our client in Rosemont, the feeling is immediate: the room is comfortable from the morning in winter and remains cool even during heat waves.

Simple control and accessible maintenance

The machine comes with an intuitive remote control . Depending on the model, it is also possible to add a Wi-Fi module for remote control via an app.

Maintenance-related:

  • The washable filters are easily accessible by opening the front panel;

  • We recommend regular cleaning of the filters (every 4 to 8 weeks depending on usage);

  • Regular professional maintenance helps keep the heat pump performing at its best and extends its lifespan.
