A modern and efficient HVAC upgrade in the heart of a Montreal duplex
In the charming Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie neighborhood, our AirGreen team recently completed the installation of a Gree wall-mounted heat pump on a brick facade typical of Montreal duplexes. This project perfectly illustrates our approach: combining energy performance, aesthetics, and reliability in an urban residential environment.
A thoughtful energy improvement project
The owner wanted to upgrade his aging air conditioning system while benefiting from an energy-efficient solution capable of providing efficient heating in winter and stable cooling in summer . His old Air Tempo single-zone air conditioner no longer met current comfort requirements or consumption standards.
Our recommendation: the Gree wall-mounted heat pump , a compact unit operating on R-32 refrigerant , recognized for its high efficiency and durability in Quebec climatic conditions.
Technical details of the installation
-
System type : Wall-mounted heat pump (mini-split single zone)
-
Brand : Gree
-
Model : R32 range (Livo or Vireo type)
-
Estimated capacity : 12,000 to 18,000 BTU
-
Location : Rear brick facade, garden level
-
Brackets : Galvanized wall brackets with vibration dampers
-
Condensate drainage : Gravity, via direct descent along the wall
-
Finish : Wiring and piping concealed under beige capping matching the facade
The outdoor unit was mounted on a solid concrete wall with sufficient ventilation clearance, ensuring optimal air circulation and easy maintenance. The installation height also prevents snow obstruction in winter.
Replacing an old appliance: transition to efficiency
The photo shows the old unit still in place next to the new Gree system. This temporary coexistence illustrates the transition process during the phased replacements. Once testing and calibration are complete, the old unit will be removed, freeing up space and reducing the home's electricity consumption.
Thanks to this modernization, the customer now benefits from:
-
Superior performance down to -25°C
-
A significant reduction in energy bills
-
Very low noise level , ideal for dense residential areas like Rosemont
-
Eligibility for Énergir and Hydro-Québec subsidies for Energy Star R-32 appliances
An installation designed for sustainability
Our technicians paid particular attention to:
-
Mechanical anchoring on a stable surface to avoid vibrations
-
Precise alignment of refrigerant pipes
-
Complete insulation of lines to maximize thermal efficiency
-
Compliance with clearance standards around outdoor units
Every detail counts. At AirGreen , we know that a well-executed installation is as important as the quality of the machine itself.
End result: comfort and peace of mind
At the end of the project, the client was able to observe immediate thermal stability and remarkable operating silence . The Gree system integrates harmoniously into the facade of the duplex, preserving the aesthetics while offering optimal performance.
This type of project clearly illustrates our commitment to offering sustainable and local HVAC solutions , perfectly adapted to the architectural and climatic realities of Greater Montreal.
