In summer, the outdoor unit rejects the house's heat outside.

  1. Mounted level on a wall plate, high enough for the air to reach the whole room, with enough space around it to slide the filters out easily.

  2. The refrigerant lines, the communication cable and the drain go through the wall in a single opening, sealed against water, cold air and insects.

  3. Two insulated copper pipes connect the two units. Outside, a line cover can protect them from sun, knocks and weather.

  4. A shut-off switch near the outdoor unit isolates it safely for service. It must stay accessible at all times.

  5. The compressor and the fan. In heating mode it captures heat from the outdoor air, even in winter, and moves it inside.

  6. On the ground or on the wall, it keeps the unit above accumulated snow. The unit stays clear and defrost water can drain away.

  7. The fan needs to blow freely. Storage, a fence or a wall too close, and efficiency drops while noise goes up.

When Comfort Meets Innovation: Our Gree Extreme Mini Split Installation

At AirGreen, we take pride in bringing the ultimate comfort to homes across Montréal, Laval, Longueuil, the North Shore, and the South Shore. Recently, we completed an installation of a Gree Extreme 18,000 BTU wall-mounted heat pump in a beautiful residence in Lorraine, showcasing the power of modern HVAC technology. This isn’t just another installation; it's an investment in cutting-edge climate control that delivers maximum comfort even during the harshest of winters.

The Gree Extreme Heat Pump: A Perfect Fit for Lorraine’s Climate

Lorraine, known for its mix of cold winters and warm summers, requires an HVAC system that can perform at the highest level year-round. The Gree Extreme 18,000 BTU Mini Split we installed is equipped to handle everything that Mother Nature throws its way—whether it’s cooling the house in the sweltering heat of July or heating the home in temperatures as low as -30°C.

The Gree Extreme is renowned for its ability to maintain performance in extreme conditions. The 18,000 BTU capacity provides just the right amount of heating and cooling for mid-sized homes, making it the perfect solution for our client’s needs.

Why Choose the Gree Extreme?

With the Gree Extreme, customers get more than just a reliable machine. This unit offers features that set it apart from other models on the market:

  • Energy Star® Certified: This means the Gree Extreme is energy efficient, saving homeowners on their monthly Hydro-Québec bills. With an impressive 24.5 SEER, it stands as one of the most efficient units available.

  • WiFi Enabled: Control the temperature of your home remotely using the built-in WiFi feature. Whether you're at work or on vacation, you can adjust the climate of your home from your smartphone, ensuring comfort is just a click away.

  • Quiet Performance: This heat pump operates at 34/51 dB(A) indoors, which means the unit runs quietly in the background without causing any disruptions to your daily activities.

  • Dual-Stage Compressor: Gree's G10 Inverter Technology ensures stable performance with minimal energy consumption. The compressor adjusts its speed based on your home’s needs, saving energy while providing comfort. In fact, the Gree Extreme can operate at 45W, which is unheard of in many traditional models.

The Installation Process: Precision and Expertise

Our installation team in Lorraine took extra care to integrate the heat pump seamlessly into the home’s interior. The unit's sleek design, with dimensions of 43.34 x 9.81 x 12.88 inches for the interior unit and 38.56 x 16.81 x 31.11 inches for the exterior unit, ensures that it blends effortlessly into any modern living space.

Pipes and Cabling were expertly routed, and our technicians ensured that the unit was fully operational, testing every component to ensure it could perform optimally under all conditions. Additionally, we mounted the outdoor compressor on a raised base with a heating element to prevent ice buildup during winter, further guaranteeing the longevity and performance of the unit.

This attention to detail ensures that the Gree Extreme will provide reliable heating and cooling for years to come.

Maximizing Comfort with the Gree Extreme’s Key Features

The Gree Extreme Mini Split isn’t just about maintaining the right temperature—it’s about maximizing comfort for the entire family. Some of the key features of this model include:

Turbo Mode for Instant Comfort

With the Turbo Mode, the Gree Extreme can quickly increase airflow to bring the indoor temperature to your desired setting faster. Whether you need to cool down quickly after a day in the sun or warm up after a chilly winter walk, this feature ensures rapid comfort.

Intelligent Defrosting Technology

Say goodbye to unnecessary defrost cycles that waste energy. The intelligent defrosting mechanism activates only when needed, saving energy and extending the lifespan of the unit. This is particularly important in regions like Lorraine, where winters can be harsh and extended.

I-Feel Technology

The Gree Extreme’s remote control is equipped with a temperature sensor that adjusts the temperature based on your location in the room, ensuring personalized comfort wherever you are. This is perfect for those who want to maintain an optimal temperature without having to manually adjust the unit all the time.

Eligible for Hydro-Québec’s LogisVert Grant

One of the biggest advantages for homeowners installing the Gree Extreme 18,000 BTU heat pump is its eligibility for Hydro-Québec’s LogisVert Grant. Our client in Lorraine is set to benefit from a rebate of $1,704, thanks to this energy-efficient installation. Not only does this installation promise long-term energy savings, but it also delivers immediate financial benefits.

Sustainability Meets Style

The Gree Extreme is also an eco-friendly option, using the R-410A refrigerant, which is less harmful to the environment compared to older refrigerants. This helps our client in Lorraine reduce their carbon footprint while still enjoying the high performance of their new heat pump.

Beyond its environmental benefits, the sleek design of the Gree Extreme also enhances the aesthetic appeal of the home. The unit’s compact dimensions allow it to fit unobtrusively into the space, complementing the modern look of the residence.

Your numbers

And at your place?

Two quick checks with real numbers: what heat costs, and what your current heaters add up to in BTU/h.

    Frequently asked questions

What people ask us about this kind of work

    12 questions
Does a wall-mounted heat pump heat in winter?
Yes, it heats and cools. Its capacity drops in very cold weather; the operating range depends on the model and is listed on its spec sheet.
    Wall-mounted or multi-zone: how do I choose?
One wall head and one condenser outside: the direct solution for a room or an open area. For two to five rooms, a multi-zone puts one head in each room on a single condenser.
Where does the outdoor unit go?
Where it stays above the snow, clear and accessible, away from walkways. We decide it with you during the estimate.
    Are there grants?
Depending on the model and your situation, assistance programs may apply, including Hydro-Québec's LogisVert. AirGreen checks the model number before quoting an amount. See the grants.
    Do I need a permit?
Rules vary from city to city: location, distances, noise. See permits and by-laws, and we check for your address.
    How cold can it heat?
It depends on the model. According to Hydro-Québec, newer models work down to a temperature between −15 °C and −25 °C, and some cold-climate models are certified lower. The minimum temperature is on each unit's spec sheet.
    How much can I save?
Hydro-Québec says a heat pump can be up to three times more efficient than baseboards for heating in the colder months. The result depends on the house, the climate and how it is used.
How is the LogisVert assistance calculated?
For ENERGY STAR cold-climate certified heat pumps, Hydro-Québec lists assistance of $120 per 1,000 BTU/h of heating capacity at −8 °C. AirGreen checks the exact model before quoting an amount; only Hydro-Québec confirms the assistance granted. See the grants.
    Is it noisy?
The sound level depends on the model and is listed in decibels on each unit's spec sheet. Location matters too: when possible, we avoid putting the outdoor unit under a bedroom window.
The outdoor unit is covered in ice: is that normal?
Some frost is: the unit runs defrost cycles. Never hit the ice. If the unit stays iced up or stops heating, call us.
Does AirGreen hold the required licences?
Yes. AirGreen holds RBQ licence 5645-9605-01, subclasses 15.8 Ventilation, 15.10 Refrigeration and 16 Electricity.
    Is the estimate free?
Yes. The on-site estimate is free and the quote follows within 24 hours. Book my free estimate.
