Installation of a Sharp wall-mounted heat pump in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie
AirGreen installed a Sharp ZU1 wall-mounted heat pump in a home in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie, providing efficient heating and cooling year-round. A quiet, discreet solution perfectly suited to Montreal's climate, installed by our certified technicians.

In summer, the outdoor unit rejects the house's heat outside.

Mounted level on a wall plate, high enough for the air to reach the whole room, with enough space around it to slide the filters out easily.
The refrigerant lines, the communication cable and the drain go through the wall in a single opening, sealed against water, cold air and insects.
Two insulated copper pipes connect the two units. Outside, a line cover can protect them from sun, knocks and weather.
A shut-off switch near the outdoor unit isolates it safely for service. It must stay accessible at all times.
The compressor and the fan. In heating mode it captures heat from the outdoor air, even in winter, and moves it inside.
On the ground or on the wall, it keeps the unit above accumulated snow. The unit stays clear and defrost water can drain away.
The fan needs to blow freely. Storage, a fence or a wall too close, and efficiency drops while noise goes up.
In this project, our AirGreen team was called in to improve the comfort of a typical home in the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie neighbourhood. The client wanted a quiet, efficient heating and cooling solution that would perform well in both winter and summer, without taking up floor space and while respecting the room's interior aesthetics. We recommended the installation of a Sharp wall-mounted heat pump , model Sharp ZU1 12,000 BTU , perfectly suited to the home's layout.
A discreet and efficient Sharp wall-mounted system
The installed heat pump is a new generation Sharp residential wall-mounted unit . This type of system is ideal for living rooms, bedrooms, or home offices, thanks to:
-
Its compact and discreet size ;
-
Its motorized flap directs the air evenly;
-
Its quiet operation is particularly appreciated in rooms where one sleeps or works;
-
Its ability to provide heating in winter and air conditioning in summer, with a single machine.
The chosen Sharp ZU1 model offers an excellent compromise between performance, comfort, and energy efficiency. For a medium-sized room, around ten to fifteen square meters, it's a very sensible choice that ensures a stable temperature all year round.
Integration into a house in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie
The house where we worked is typical of the area: relatively high ceilings, interior openings with white moldings, walls painted in custom colors — here, a pale mauve wall that gives a warm and modern touch.
To maximize comfort, we have:
-
Position the Sharp wall head high, near the ceiling, which allows the conditioned or heated air to be diffused evenly throughout the room;
-
Install the unit above an interior doorway , so as to take advantage of natural air movements between rooms;
-
We opted to run the refrigeration lines directly behind the unit , in order to minimize visible elements and preserve the aesthetics of the wall.
The result: the unit blends seamlessly into the space, with a clean and understated look. The white front panel of the heat pump harmonizes perfectly with the moldings and ceiling, without overpowering the decor.
Technical details and quality of the installation
At AirGreen, we attach great importance to the quality of installation , as it is just as important as the brand or model chosen.
For this Sharp wall-mounted heat pump, we have, in particular:
-
Securely attach the mounting plate to the wall structure;
-
The unit level was precisely checked to ensure proper condensate drainage;
-
Carefully check the refrigeration connection between the indoor unit and the outdoor compressor (not visible in the photo), with vacuuming and leak testing;
-
The electrical wiring was sized according to current standards and the manufacturer's specifications;
-
Configure the operating modes (heating, air conditioning, dehumidification, ventilation) so that the customer can quickly enjoy all the benefits of their Sharp system.
Thanks to these steps, the heat pump offers optimal performance, a long lifespan and controlled energy consumption.
Four-season comfort in Montreal's climate
Montreal's climate, and particularly that of areas like Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie, presents significant temperature variations: heat waves in summer and intense cold in winter. A properly installed Sharp wall-mounted heat pump can help meet these challenges.
-
In summer : the unit effectively cools the room, reduces humidity and maintains comfortable air, even during heat waves.
-
During the off-seasons : the heat pump takes over from the main heating system to limit energy consumption, while offering a very stable temperature.
-
In winter : heat pump technology allows the room to be heated quickly and evenly, with excellent efficiency, even when the mercury drops well below zero.
The customer thus benefits from four-season comfort , while reducing their energy bill compared to traditional electric heating.
An installation designed for the customer's everyday life
Beyond the technical aspects, our goal is always to deliver a system that is simple to use on a daily basis . Therefore, we have:
-
Took the time to explain to the customer how the remote control works (or the application, if the model is connected): temperature setting, programming, eco modes, fan speed;
-
Recommended good usage practices : keep filters clean, avoid excessively extreme temperature settings, use the dehumidification mode on very humid days;
-
We introduced our maintenance service to ensure periodic cleaning of the coils and outdoor unit, in order to keep the heat pump performing well for many years.
The result is a turnkey solution that immediately improves home comfort and the quality of life for its occupants.

How it goes, from the first call to the end
The main steps of this kind of job at AirGreen. Every house has its quirks: the estimate brings them out.
We look at the room, the outside wall, the line route and where the outdoor unit will go. That is where the capacity gets chosen.
Model, capacity and price, in writing. We also check whether the model qualifies for assistance programs.
Floors and furniture protected, wall plate position marked level, wall opening located.
A single opening, with the slope the drain needs to flow outside.
Set on a stand raised above the snow, with the clearances the manufacturer requires.
Connected, insulated and protected. The opening is then sealed against water, cold air and insects.
A dedicated circuit and an accessible disconnect near the outdoor unit.
Leak test, vacuum, then start-up and a check of heating and cooling.
Remote, modes, filters: we show you the essentials before we leave.

And at your place?
Two quick checks with real numbers: what heat costs, and what your current heaters add up to in BTU/h.
Conversion: 1 W = 3.412 BTU/h. An indication, not a load calculation: baseboards and furnaces are often stronger than the real need, and they can stay as backup. AirGreen confirms the capacity on site.
