Installation of a Sharp MultiZone wall-mounted heat pump in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie

An energy efficiency project in a brick duplex in Rosemont

At AirGreen , we recently installed a Sharp MultiZone wall-mounted heat pump system in a typical duplex in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie , a residential area where brick buildings dominate the landscape. This project illustrates the importance of adapting HVAC systems to the architecture of Montreal buildings while maximizing the interior comfort of occupants.

A thoughtful choice: Sharp MultiZone for complete coverage

The client wanted to equip two separate zones of their home without having to install two separate systems. The solution chosen was a Sharp MultiZone heat pump , capable of powering multiple indoor units from a single outdoor compressor. Benefits include:

  • Flexible heating and cooling per room, ideal for multi-story homes.

  • Optimized energy consumption , thanks to Inverter modulation.

  • Eligibility for provincial and federal subsidies , due to high energy efficiency and heating capacity in extreme cold.

Technical details of the outdoor installation

The brick rear facade provided a sturdy wall, perfect for supporting the two outdoor units mounted on reinforced wall brackets . The installation included:

  • Careful drilling, through the masonry, with waterproof sealing to prevent any infiltration.

  • Vertical black cappings match the facade, ensuring discreet integration of the refrigeration and electrical conduits.

  • A mounting height designed to preserve the safety of equipment in winter, by avoiding snow accumulations and facilitating the flow of condensates.

On-site challenges and AirGreen solutions

The main challenge was the working height , requiring the use of secure platforms to securely attach the compressors to the façade. Our technicians also had to deal with precise drilling in the solid brick, respecting the existing structure and avoiding any cracking.

Particular attention was paid to the insulation of the ducts : double insulation was applied to prevent performance losses in winter and ensure maximum durability.

Results for the client

Upon commissioning, occupants immediately benefited from stable and consistent thermal comfort in both target zones. In summer, the wall-mounted air conditioning system provides constant coolness, while in winter, the heat pump ensures efficient heating even in sub-zero temperatures.

The system not only saves on energy bills, but also contributes to reducing the carbon footprint of the home.

Maintenance and longevity prospects

We recommended to the client an annual HVAC maintenance plan including:

  • Checking the refrigerant pressure.

  • Inspection of wall supports and sealing of drillings.

  • Cleaning of internal filters and inspection of external capping.

These preventive actions ensure optimal performance and extend the life of the system.
