Mounted level on a wall plate, high enough for the air to reach the whole room, with enough space around it to slide the filters out easily.
The refrigerant lines, the communication cable and the drain go through the wall in a single opening, sealed against water, cold air and insects.
Two insulated copper pipes connect the two units. Outside, a line cover can protect them from sun, knocks and weather.
A shut-off switch near the outdoor unit isolates it safely for service. It must stay accessible at all times.
The compressor and the fan. In heating mode it captures heat from the outdoor air, even in winter, and moves it inside.
On the ground or on the wall, it keeps the unit above accumulated snow. The unit stays clear and defrost water can drain away.
The fan needs to blow freely. Storage, a fence or a wall too close, and efficiency drops while noise goes up.
A Smart Choice for Year-Round Comfort
At AirGreen, we take pride in providing our customers with the best HVAC solutions for their homes. In our latest project, we completed the installation of a Sharp ZU1 Wall-Mounted Heat Pump at a beautiful home in Bois-des-Filions, demonstrating once again our commitment to superior craftsmanship and customer satisfaction.
Why the Sharp ZU1 is a Game Changer
The Sharp ZU1 15,000 BTU heat pump is no ordinary system—it’s an efficient powerhouse designed to provide reliable heating and cooling even in extreme weather conditions. With a cooling capacity of 15,000 BTU and the ability to heat even in temperatures as low as -27°C, this machine is built for Quebec’s harsh winters and hot summers.
This model uses the environmentally friendly R-32 refrigerant, which reduces greenhouse gas emissions and electricity consumption by around 10%, making it a top choice for eco-conscious homeowners.
Maximizing Efficiency and Comfort
We carefully selected this Sharp ZU1 model due to its impressive efficiency rating of 24.0 SEER, which significantly lowers energy costs without compromising on performance. Whether cooling a large room during a hot summer or keeping the home warm in the depths of winter, this heat pump ensures comfort all year long.
One of the standout features of this unit is its Plasmacluster technology, unique to Sharp products, which offers superior air purification. The Plasmacluster ions actively work to eliminate airborne viruses, mold, allergens, and odors, ensuring that the air inside the home is not only comfortable but also clean and safe to breathe.
The Installation Process: Tailored to Perfection
In Bois-des-Filions, our expert team ensured the Sharp ZU1 was installed in a prime location for optimal airflow and minimal noise disturbance. With interior dimensions of 41.42 x 9.80 x 12.44 inches and a sleek design, the wall-mounted unit blends seamlessly into the home’s décor without being obtrusive. We also paid special attention to the exterior unit, placing it strategically to ensure efficient heat dissipation, as well as to avoid any noise disruption to neighbors, considering its sound pressure level of 49 dB(A)—whisper quiet for a heat pump of this caliber.
Moreover, we ensured that all piping was neatly arranged, and the electrical connections were made to accommodate the 220V power supply, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
Eligible for the LogisVert Grant
We always strive to provide cost-effective solutions for our clients. This Sharp ZU1 installation qualified for the LogisVert Grant from Hydro-Québec, offering the homeowners a rebate of $2,172, making this high-performance heat pump an even more attractive option. Additionally, federal grants up to $5,000 were also available, making it a smart investment for both comfort and sustainability.
Smart Features for Modern Living
The Sharp ZU1 comes equipped with WiFi connectivity, allowing homeowners to control the unit remotely from their smartphone. This not only adds convenience but also helps in optimizing energy use by adjusting the settings based on the room's occupancy and real-time conditions. The system’s motion sensors can even send notifications when someone enters or leaves a room, ensuring no energy is wasted heating or cooling an empty space.
Coanda Airflow Technology: Comfort without Compromise
Another fantastic feature of the Sharp ZU1 is its Coanda Airflow technology, which ensures that the cool or warm air is directed in a way that avoids drafts. This results in even temperature distribution across the room, eliminating the discomfort of cold or hot spots. The long diffuser flap enhances this airflow control, allowing the unit to distribute air up to 15 meters, making it ideal for larger spaces.
Built to Last: Durability and Warranty
At AirGreen, we believe in installing systems that stand the test of time, and the Sharp ZU1 does not disappoint. With a 10-year warranty on the compressor, parts, and labor, this heat pump ensures long-term peace of mind. The unit also features an anticorrosive coating on its outdoor components, which is particularly important in Quebec’s snowy and rainy climate, extending the lifespan of the equipment.
Noise-Free Operation for a Peaceful Home
The Sharp ZU1 is not only efficient but also impressively quiet. With an indoor noise level ranging from 23 to 46 dB(A), it operates quietly in the background without disturbing the household. Whether it’s a peaceful night’s sleep or a calm afternoon indoors, the Sharp ZU1 provides comfort without the noise.
The Future of Energy Efficiency
This installation in Bois-des-Filions is more than just a comfort upgrade for the homeowners—it’s also a forward-thinking investment in energy efficiency. With Energy Star® certification, the Sharp ZU1 ensures lower utility bills and reduced environmental impact. As Quebec continues to adopt greener energy solutions, heat pumps like this one lead the way by combining cutting-edge technology with sustainability.
The Perfect Solution for Extreme Weather
Given Quebec’s cold winters, having a reliable heating system is essential. The Sharp ZU1 is designed to operate efficiently in temperatures as low as -27°C, making it one of the best choices for extreme weather conditions. Its hot gas pipe system ensures that the outdoor compressor doesn’t freeze, even in the harshest weather, providing consistent heating when it’s needed most.

The big day, step by step
The main steps of this kind of job at AirGreen. Every house has its quirks: the estimate brings them out.
We look at the room, the outside wall, the line route and where the outdoor unit will go. That is where the capacity gets chosen.
Model, capacity and price, in writing. We also check whether the model qualifies for assistance programs.
Floors and furniture protected, wall plate position marked level, wall opening located.
A single opening, with the slope the drain needs to flow outside.
Set on a stand raised above the snow, with the clearances the manufacturer requires.
Connected, insulated and protected. The opening is then sealed against water, cold air and insects.
A dedicated circuit and an accessible disconnect near the outdoor unit.
Leak test, vacuum, then start-up and a check of heating and cooling.
Remote, modes, filters: we show you the essentials before we leave.

What would it look like at your place?
Two quick checks with real numbers: what heat costs, and what your current heaters add up to in BTU/h.
Baseboards and electric furnaces turn 1 kWh of electricity into 1 kWh of heat. A heat pump delivers more: that is its COP. At Hydro-Québec’s rate D (11.142¢/kWh above 40 kWh a day, since 1 April 2026):
Hydro-Québec: a heat pump can be up to three times more efficient than baseboards for heating in the colder months.
Estimate per kWh of heat, at the chosen temperature, using the certified COP from the product page. Taxes, access charge and backup heat not included.
Conversion: 1 W = 3.412 BTU/h. An indication, not a load calculation: baseboards and furnaces are often stronger than the real need, and they can stay as backup. AirGreen confirms the capacity on site.

Your own project, step by step
What to do, season by season
Three habits per season for this unit. They take a few minutes and prevent many calls.
- Clean the indoor unit's filters.
- Clear leaves and debris left on the outdoor unit by winter.
- Test cooling before the first hot days.
- Clean the filters more often when the unit runs a lot.
- Keep plants away from the outdoor unit.
- Check that no water drips from the indoor unit.
- Rake the leaves around the outdoor unit.
- Test heating before the first cold days.
- Book periodic maintenance before winter.
- Keep snow away from the stand and the front of the unit.
- Let the unit defrost: it is normal.
- Never hit the ice on the fins; call us if the unit stays iced up.
Is your home ready?
Check what applies at your place. A "no" is not a refusal: it is what we sort out during the estimate.
Four statements: true or false?
It all comes down to details you have just seen.
1. In heating mode, the outdoor unit can produce water.
During defrost cycles. That water must drain away without forming ice.
2. You pick the capacity with a simple square-footage rule.
Windows, insulation, orientation and how the room is used all count. Capacity is chosen on site.
3. A multi-zone connects several indoor heads to a single condenser.
One head per room, all on the same condenser. Each room keeps its own temperature.
4. The disconnect can sit behind the patio furniture.
It must stay accessible: it is what shuts the unit off for service.
