In the Plateau-Mont-Royal, the architecture has its own distinct character: brick facades, stacked windows, limited outdoor spaces, and very real aesthetic constraints. This is precisely the type of context where a wall-mounted heat pump (mini-split) makes perfect sense… provided it is installed correctly.

For this residential project, our AirGreen team installed a Sharp wall-mounted heat pump , with a compact outdoor unit mounted on wall brackets directly onto a brick wall — a common approach in Montreal, but one that requires precise technical choices to protect the masonry, limit vibrations and ensure stable performance in all seasons.


Why a Sharp wall-mounted heat pump in the Plateau?

The Plateau often combines high-rise apartments, interior stairwells, and rear (or side) spaces where every centimeter counts. A wall-mounted heat pump is ideal for:

  • Heating and cooling a main area (open-plan living room/kitchen) with excellent control;

Machine type

This is a wall-mounted heat pump (mini-split / wall unit) : an indoor unit (not visible in the photo) and an outdoor unit (visible), connected by refrigerant lines, an electrical supply and a condensate drain.

Model (consistent with the Sharp brand)

On this site, we present the installation as a Sharp ZU1 (Sharp wall-mounted range, R-32 refrigerant, very common in residential settings).
When the exact model is not 100% legible in the photo, we remain with a designation consistent with the Sharp range used in residential installations in Quebec.


Visible installation details and technical choices (what makes the difference)

The image shows a clean and structured installation, typical of work designed for the Montreal climate:

1) Outdoor unit on wall brackets, on a brick facade

The outdoor unit is mounted on sturdy wall brackets , which offers several advantages in the Plateau region:

  • Clearance from the ground : useful to avoid the accumulation of snow, ice, debris and splashes;

  • Reduction of flood risks during rapid melting or localized backflow;

  • Better protection if the yard is narrow or used for traffic.
