Installation of a Windair wall-mounted heat pump in LaSalle
AirGreen installed a Windair wall-mounted heat pump in a condo in LaSalle. Four-season comfort, high energy efficiency, and professional HVAC installation in Montreal and the surrounding area.

In summer, the outdoor unit rejects the house's heat outside.

Mounted level on a wall plate, high enough for the air to reach the whole room, with enough space around it to slide the filters out easily.
The refrigerant lines, the communication cable and the drain go through the wall in a single opening, sealed against water, cold air and insects.
Two insulated copper pipes connect the two units. Outside, a line cover can protect them from sun, knocks and weather.
A shut-off switch near the outdoor unit isolates it safely for service. It must stay accessible at all times.
The compressor and the fan. In heating mode it captures heat from the outdoor air, even in winter, and moves it inside.
On the ground or on the wall, it keeps the unit above accumulated snow. The unit stays clear and defrost water can drain away.
The fan needs to blow freely. Storage, a fence or a wall too close, and efficiency drops while noise goes up.
Four-season comfort in a bright condo with balcony
At AirGreen , we recently completed an HVAC installation project in a modern condo in LaSalle , located near the river. The owners were looking for a discreet yet efficient solution to ensure their comfort in all seasons. They chose a Windair wall-mounted heat pump , renowned for its excellent price-performance ratio and its compatibility with Quebec grant programs.
Project background
The south-facing home with large bay windows heated up quickly in the summer and became energy-intensive in the winter. Installing a 12,000 BTU wall-mounted heat pump solved these challenges: efficiently cooling the living room and dining room, while providing stable, economical heating during colder periods.
Key steps of installation
-
Indoor unit location:
The unit was mounted above the patio door leading to the balcony, an ideal location to optimize air circulation in the open area. -
Management of refrigeration connections:
The pipes have been discreetly grouped and protected by white capping running along the wall, ensuring a neat finish that blends harmoniously with the interior of the condo. -
Outdoor installation:
The compressor was positioned on an outdoor slab, protected from the weather and with sufficient space for ventilation. -
Electrical connection:
A dedicated circuit breaker has been installed to ensure safety and electrical compliance with current standards. -
Drainage management:
Condensate drainage was carried out by gravity, without the need for an additional pump, reducing future maintenance costs.
Challenges and solutions provided
-
Limited working height: Installation above the patio door required the use of a telescopic stepladder and precise adjustment to avoid any conflict with the curtain rod.
-
Energy optimization: We advised customers on the ideal settings to take advantage of inverter modulation and thus reduce electricity consumption during peak periods.
Customer Benefits
-
Immediate comfort: a stable and pleasant temperature in all seasons.
-
Energy savings: high efficiency (SEER greater than 20, HSPF close to 10 depending on the range installed).
-
Grant eligibility: Thanks to Energy Star certification, this heat pump is eligible for financial assistance offered in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, North Shore and South Shore.
-
Aesthetic integration: the wall unit blends perfectly into the decor, with discreet capping and a clean installation.
AirGreen expertise serving Montreal condos
This project demonstrates our ability to adapt each wall-mounted heat pump installation to the specific constraints of condos: limited space, interior aesthetics, drilling management, and controlled exterior noise. Our teams handle every step, from device selection to commissioning, including electrical compliance and maintenance advice.
Recommended maintenance
To ensure the performance and longevity of the Windair heat pump, we recommend:
-
cleaning the filters every 4 to 6 weeks,
-
an annual professional inspection ,
-
and regular monitoring of the refrigerant charge to maintain optimal energy efficiency.
Conclusion: a successful installation in LaSalle
With this project, the condo owners benefit from a reliable, economical, and sustainable HVAC system , perfectly suited to their urban lifestyle. AirGreen's expertise ensures not only optimal comfort, but also peace of mind thanks to an installation carried out according to the highest quality standards.
How it goes, from the first call to the end
The main steps of this kind of job at AirGreen. Every house has its quirks: the estimate brings them out.
We look at the room, the outside wall, the line route and where the outdoor unit will go. That is where the capacity gets chosen.
Model, capacity and price, in writing. We also check whether the model qualifies for assistance programs.
Floors and furniture protected, wall plate position marked level, wall opening located.
A single opening, with the slope the drain needs to flow outside.
Set on a stand raised above the snow, with the clearances the manufacturer requires.
Connected, insulated and protected. The opening is then sealed against water, cold air and insects.
A dedicated circuit and an accessible disconnect near the outdoor unit.
Leak test, vacuum, then start-up and a check of heating and cooling.
Remote, modes, filters: we show you the essentials before we leave.

And at your place?
Two quick checks with real numbers: what heat costs, and what your current heaters add up to in BTU/h.
Conversion: 1 W = 3.412 BTU/h. An indication, not a load calculation: baseboards and furnaces are often stronger than the real need, and they can stay as backup. AirGreen confirms the capacity on site.
What to do, season by season
Three habits per season for this unit. They take a few minutes and prevent many calls.
- Clean the indoor unit's filters.
- Clear leaves and debris left on the outdoor unit by winter.
- Test cooling before the first hot days.
- Clean the filters more often when the unit runs a lot.
- Keep plants away from the outdoor unit.
- Check that no water drips from the indoor unit.
- Rake the leaves around the outdoor unit.
- Test heating before the first cold days.
- Book periodic maintenance before winter.
- Keep snow away from the stand and the front of the unit.
- Let the unit defrost: it is normal.
- Never hit the ice on the fins; call us if the unit stays iced up.
