Installation of a SHARP BU Triple Zone Heat Pump in Sainte-Thérèse
Discover how AirGreen installed a SHARP BU Triple Zone Heat Pump in Sainte-Thérèse, combining clean air, energy efficiency, and unmatched heating performance even at -27°C!

In summer, the outdoor unit rejects the house's heat outside.
Generic illustration of this type of installation, not a survey of this job site. Tap a number.
Mounted level on a wall plate, high enough for the air to reach the whole room, with enough space around it to slide the filters out easily.
The refrigerant lines, the communication cable and the drain go through the wall in a single opening, sealed against water, cold air and insects.
Two insulated copper pipes connect the two units. Outside, a line cover can protect them from sun, knocks and weather.
A shut-off switch near the outdoor unit isolates it safely for service. It must stay accessible at all times.
The compressor and the fan. In heating mode it captures heat from the outdoor air, even in winter, and moves it inside.
On the ground or on the wall, it keeps the unit above accumulated snow. The unit stays clear and defrost water can drain away.
The fan needs to blow freely. Storage, a fence or a wall too close, and efficiency drops while noise goes up.
Optimizing Comfort and Efficiency with a Cutting-Edge Triple Zone SHARP Heat Pump
At AirGreen, we believe that every HVAC installation tells a story — a story of innovation, reliability, and exceptional comfort. In the picturesque town of Sainte-Thérèse, we recently had the pleasure of installing the highly advanced SHARP BU Triple Zone Heat Pump, a machine that blends efficiency with functionality to suit the modern home. Designed to combat both scorching summers and frigid winters, this system is the perfect solution for homeowners in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, and across the Rive Nord and Rive Sud.
Project Details: Bringing Comfort to Every Corner
This project came with unique requirements. The homeowner wanted a system that could efficiently heat and cool three distinct areas of the house without compromising energy efficiency. The solution? A 24,000 BTU SHARP BU Heat Pump paired with two 9,000 BTU indoor units and a 12,000 BTU indoor unit. Each unit was strategically placed to ensure even air distribution and optimal comfort in every zone.
Machine Specifications: The Numbers Speak for Themselves
- Cooling Capacity: 24,000 BTU
- Heating Capacity: Efficient operation down to -27°C
- Efficiency: 24.0 SEER, setting a benchmark in energy savings
- Zones: 3 distinct zones for maximum flexibility
- Noise Levels: Ultra-quiet operation with an exterior sound pressure level of 50 dB(A)
- Refrigerant: Eco-friendly R-32 refrigerant for reduced environmental impact
- Warranty: Unmatched 10-10-10 (10 years on compressor, parts, and labor)
This installation was also eligible for the generous $3,000 LogisVert Grant offered by Hydro-Québec—a testament to the SHARP BU’s energy efficiency and sustainability.
Why the SHARP BU Triple Zone Heat Pump Stands Out
Plasmacluster Technology: Clean Air You Can Trust
One of the most remarkable features of the SHARP BU Heat Pump is its proprietary Plasmacluster air purification system. This cutting-edge technology releases positive and negative ions that neutralize airborne bacteria, viruses, mold spores, and allergens. For families in Sainte-Thérèse, where indoor air quality is often a concern during long winters, this feature ensures a clean and healthy living environment.
Benefits of Plasmacluster:
- Allergen Reduction: Minimizes triggers for asthma and allergies
- Odor Elimination: Removes lingering odors from pets, cooking, and tobacco
- Improved Health: Fewer airborne pathogens mean a healthier home for everyone
Efficient Heating and Cooling for Harsh Canadian Winters
The SHARP BU Triple Zone Heat Pump is engineered to thrive in extreme cold, maintaining peak performance even at temperatures as low as -27°C. This is thanks to SHARP’s patented HOT GAS PIPE system, which prevents ice buildup on the outdoor unit during defrost cycles. For homeowners in Sainte-Thérèse, this means consistent warmth without skyrocketing energy bills.
R-32 Refrigerant: A Greener Choice
At AirGreen, we are proud to install systems that prioritize environmental sustainability. The SHARP BU uses R-32 refrigerant, which has a lower global warming potential (GWP) compared to older refrigerants like R-410A. This ensures reduced environmental impact while delivering exceptional energy efficiency.
Key Benefits of R-32 Refrigerant:
- Lower Carbon Footprint
- Higher Energy Efficiency
- Simpler Recycling Process
Installation Process: Precision, Professionalism, and Customer Satisfaction
Every AirGreen installation begins with a detailed assessment of the home to determine optimal unit placement. For this project in Sainte-Thérèse:
- Exterior Unit Installation: The 24,000 BTU compressor was mounted securely, ensuring proper ventilation and noise isolation.
- Indoor Unit Placement: The two 9,000 BTU units were installed in the bedrooms to deliver targeted comfort, while the 12,000 BTU unit was placed in the open living space to handle larger square footage.
- Seamless Integration: All wiring, refrigerant lines, and drainage systems were carefully installed to maintain the home’s aesthetic and structural integrity.
Our team paid special attention to achieving balanced airflow in all three zones, ensuring no hot or cold spots. Post-installation, we conducted rigorous testing to guarantee that the system was functioning flawlessly.

How it goes, from the first call to the end
The main steps of this kind of job at AirGreen. Every house has its quirks: the estimate brings them out.
We look at the room, the outside wall, the line route and where the outdoor unit will go. That is where the capacity gets chosen.
Model, capacity and price, in writing. We also check whether the model qualifies for assistance programs.
Floors and furniture protected, wall plate position marked level, wall opening located.
A single opening, with the slope the drain needs to flow outside.
Set on a stand raised above the snow, with the clearances the manufacturer requires.
Connected, insulated and protected. The opening is then sealed against water, cold air and insects.
A dedicated circuit and an accessible disconnect near the outdoor unit.
Leak test, vacuum, then start-up and a check of heating and cooling.
Remote, modes, filters: we show you the essentials before we leave.

Among the year’s most efficient according to ENERGY STAR, on top of its cold-climate certification.
Minimum certified capacity (NEEP): it slows down instead of stopping when a single room calls.
NEEP still lists 14,600 BTU/h at a COP of 1.84 at −17 °F.
Global warming potential of R-32, versus 2,088 for R-410A (ENERGY STAR).

And at your place?
Two quick checks with real numbers: what heat costs, and what your current heaters add up to in BTU/h.
Baseboards and electric furnaces turn 1 kWh of electricity into 1 kWh of heat. A heat pump delivers more: that is its COP. At Hydro-Québec’s rate D (11.142¢/kWh above 40 kWh a day, since 1 April 2026):
Hydro-Québec: a heat pump can be up to three times more efficient than baseboards for heating in the colder months.
Estimate per kWh of heat, at the chosen temperature, using the certified COP from the product page. Taxes, access charge and backup heat not included.
Conversion: 1 W = 3.412 BTU/h. An indication, not a load calculation: baseboards and furnaces are often stronger than the real need, and they can stay as backup. AirGreen confirms the capacity on site.
