  1. Mounted level on a wall plate, high enough for the air to reach the whole room, with enough space around it to slide the filters out easily.

  2. The refrigerant lines, the communication cable and the drain go through the wall in a single opening, sealed against water, cold air and insects.

  3. Two insulated copper pipes connect the two units. Outside, a line cover can protect them from sun, knocks and weather.

  4. A shut-off switch near the outdoor unit isolates it safely for service. It must stay accessible at all times.

  5. The compressor and the fan. In heating mode it captures heat from the outdoor air, even in winter, and moves it inside.

  6. On the ground or on the wall, it keeps the unit above accumulated snow. The unit stays clear and defrost water can drain away.

  7. The fan needs to blow freely. Storage, a fence or a wall too close, and efficiency drops while noise goes up.

At AirGreen, we take pride in delivering top-notch HVAC services to our valued customers in Montréal, Laval, Longueuil, as well as the North and South Shores. Our latest project was an installation of a Sharp ZHU1 12,000 BTU wall-mounted air conditioner on the North Shore. Advanced Technology for Ultimate Comfort

One of the things that sets the Sharp ZHU1 apart is its cutting-edge technology designed to optimize airflow, energy usage, and air quality. This installation featured several key innovations that elevate the performance and comfort of the system:

Nature Wing Fan Blades for Superior Air Circulation

The Sharp ZHU1 incorporates Nature Wing fan blades inspired by natural forms, like the wings of a dragonfly, to enhance airflow efficiency. This design increases air circulation by approximately 30%, ensuring that your space is evenly cooled or heated with less energy usage. These fan blades are used in both the indoor and outdoor units, maximizing comfort throughout the entire home.

Plasmacluster Ion Technology: Cleaner, Healthier Air

For families looking to improve indoor air quality, the Sharp ZHU1 offers Plasmacluster Ion Technology. This system releases both positive and negative ions that neutralize airborne viruses, bacteria, mold, and allergens, keeping your home's air clean and fresh. Whether you're dealing with dust, pet dander, or seasonal allergens, the Plasmacluster system helps to remove harmful particles and improve overall air quality.

This air purification system also combats unpleasant odors, ensuring a more pleasant living environment.

Coanda Effect for Even Temperature Distribution

Another standout feature of the Sharp ZHU1 is the Coanda airflow effect. By mimicking the natural movement of air, the system directs airflow along the ceilings and walls, creating a more even distribution of warm or cool air throughout your home. This technology prevents hot and cold spots, ensuring that every corner of your room maintains a consistent temperature.

Built-in WiFi Connectivity for Smart Control

The Sharp ZHU1 also comes equipped with WiFi connectivity, giving homeowners complete control over their system via a smartphone app. Whether you're at home or away, you can easily adjust the temperature, monitor energy consumption, or receive alerts about system performance.

The app also provides detailed real-time data on energy usage, allowing you to make informed decisions and reduce your overall energy footprint. You can track monthly and daily energy consumption, giving you a clearer picture of your usage patterns and how to optimize them.

Quiet Operation for Undisturbed Comfort

This Sharp unit operates at extremely low noise levels, making it perfect for bedrooms, home offices, or any other area where silence is golden. With indoor sound levels as low as 22 dB(A), the system works quietly in the background, so you can go about your day without disruption.

Built to Last with Superior Warranties

At AirGreen, we believe in providing our customers with reliable and long-lasting HVAC solutions. The Sharp ZHU1 is backed by an impressive 10-10-10 warranty, covering compressor, parts, and labor for 10 years. This ensures peace of mind for homeowners, knowing that their investment is protected for the long haul.

For added protection, we offer an additional 10-10-10 extended warranty, ensuring that every component of the system remains covered for up to 20 years of total protection. This level of warranty coverage is unmatched in the HVAC industry and demonstrates our commitment to quality service and customer satisfaction.

Installation Details: A Seamless Process

Our experienced technicians at AirGreen ensure that every installation is smooth, efficient, and up to code. For this North Shore installation, we placed the outdoor unit securely on a raised metal platform, protecting it from snow and debris during the harsh Québec winters. The tubing used was 1/4 - 3/8, and the system operates on 220V, ensuring maximum efficiency.

The placement of the indoor unit was carefully chosen to optimize airflow and maintain an even temperature throughout the living space. By combining the Coanda effect and Nature Wing fan blades, we ensured that the entire area would benefit from the Sharp ZHU1's powerful yet energy-efficient performance.

Eco-Friendly and Energy Conscious

One of the main reasons why we recommend the Sharp ZHU1 is its focus on sustainability. The unit utilizes R-32 refrigerant, which not only reduces greenhouse gas emissions but also improves the system's overall efficiency by 10% compared to older models. This makes it a perfect choice for environmentally-conscious homeowners looking to reduce their carbon footprint.

Additionally, thanks to its Energy Star Cold Climate® certification, the Sharp ZHU1 can operate efficiently even in the coldest of winters, reducing energy consumption while maintaining a warm, comfortable indoor environment. This is especially important for homes in Québec, where winter temperatures can plummet well below zero.

    Frequently asked questions

What people ask us about this kind of work

    12 questions
Does a wall-mounted heat pump heat in winter?
Yes, it heats and cools. Its capacity drops in very cold weather; the operating range depends on the model and is listed on its spec sheet.
    Wall-mounted or multi-zone: how do I choose?
One wall head and one condenser outside: the direct solution for a room or an open area. For two to five rooms, a multi-zone puts one head in each room on a single condenser.
Where does the outdoor unit go?
Where it stays above the snow, clear and accessible, away from walkways. We decide it with you during the estimate.
    Are there grants?
Depending on the model and your situation, assistance programs may apply, including Hydro-Québec's LogisVert. AirGreen checks the model number before quoting an amount. See the grants.
    Do I need a permit?
Rules vary from city to city: location, distances, noise. See permits and by-laws, and we check for your address.
    How cold can it heat?
It depends on the model. According to Hydro-Québec, newer models work down to a temperature between −15 °C and −25 °C, and some cold-climate models are certified lower. The minimum temperature is on each unit's spec sheet.
    How much can I save?
Hydro-Québec says a heat pump can be up to three times more efficient than baseboards for heating in the colder months. The result depends on the house, the climate and how it is used.
How is the LogisVert assistance calculated?
For ENERGY STAR cold-climate certified heat pumps, Hydro-Québec lists assistance of $120 per 1,000 BTU/h of heating capacity at −8 °C. AirGreen checks the exact model before quoting an amount; only Hydro-Québec confirms the assistance granted. See the grants.
    Is it noisy?
The sound level depends on the model and is listed in decibels on each unit's spec sheet. Location matters too: when possible, we avoid putting the outdoor unit under a bedroom window.
The outdoor unit is covered in ice: is that normal?
Some frost is: the unit runs defrost cycles. Never hit the ice. If the unit stays iced up or stops heating, call us.
Does AirGreen hold the required licences?
Yes. AirGreen holds RBQ licence 5645-9605-01, subclasses 15.8 Ventilation, 15.10 Refrigeration and 16 Electricity.
    Is the estimate free?
Yes. The on-site estimate is free and the quote follows within 24 hours. Book my free estimate.
