A Smart HVAC Solution in Ville-Marie: Installation of a SHARP BU DoubleZone Wall-Mounted Heat Pump by AirGreen
Installation of a SHARP BU DoubleZone wall-mounted heat pump in Ville-Marie by AirGreen. A high-performance, whisper-quiet multi-zone solution with Plasmacluster air purification technology.

In summer, the outdoor unit rejects the house's heat outside.

Mounted level on a wall plate, high enough for the air to reach the whole room, with enough space around it to slide the filters out easily.
The refrigerant lines, the communication cable and the drain go through the wall in a single opening, sealed against water, cold air and insects.
Two insulated copper pipes connect the two units. Outside, a line cover can protect them from sun, knocks and weather.
A shut-off switch near the outdoor unit isolates it safely for service. It must stay accessible at all times.
The compressor and the fan. In heating mode it captures heat from the outdoor air, even in winter, and moves it inside.
On the ground or on the wall, it keeps the unit above accumulated snow. The unit stays clear and defrost water can drain away.
The fan needs to blow freely. Storage, a fence or a wall too close, and efficiency drops while noise goes up.
A seamless and efficient wall-mounted heat pump installation in a tight space
At AirGreen, we specialize in installing HVAC systems (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) that are not only efficient and high-performing, but also visually discreet and tailored to each home’s architectural reality. Today, we’re showcasing a project completed in the Ville-Marie neighbourhood of Montréal, featuring a SHARP BU DoubleZone wall-mounted heat pump, a high-performance model certified for harsh Canadian climates.
The goal of this installation was to deliver a multi-room heating and cooling solution, while maintaining exceptional energy efficiency and visual discretion. Thanks to our team’s expertise and the strategic selection of the SHARP BU series, we were able to provide our client with tailor-made thermal comfort, all year round.
Why the SHARP BU DoubleZone Wall-Mounted Heat Pump?
The SHARP BU series strikes the perfect balance between cutting-edge Japanese technology, sleek design, and extreme cold weather performance. It’s designed to serve two to three separate zones with a single outdoor unit, making it an ideal choice for condos, duplexes, or urban homes like those found in downtown Montréal.
Some of the key advantages of the BU model:

Installation process in Ville-Marie
This project was completed in a typical Ville-Marie condo, where wall space is limited, and every inch matters. Here’s a breakdown of the key steps our team followed:
1. Assessment and planning
First, we performed a full assessment of the client’s needs and the building’s layout. Choosing a DoubleZone system allowed us to cover the most important areas — the living room and the master bedroom — without installing multiple outdoor units.
2. Strategic wall-mounted placement
The unit shown in the photo was strategically installed above a patio door, in a discreet yet central location. This setup ensures optimal airflow circulation, while maintaining a clean and elegant look.
3. Precise, high-quality workmanship
The wall unit was securely mounted with an anti-vibration anchor system. The refrigerant lines were carefully routed to the outdoor unit, which was installed on an anti-vibration base in the backyard. All R32 refrigerant piping was insulated and protected according to the strictest standards.
4. Wi-Fi system setup
We guided the client through the Wi-Fi connection process, enabling full remote control via the SHARP mobile app. The system also offers automated alerts and smart programming tailored to the family’s schedule.
5. System testing and client walkthrough
All functions (heating, cooling, air purification, airflow control) were fully tested, and the client received a personalized tutorial to make the most of their new SHARP heat pump’s advanced features.
What this project showcases about AirGreen’s expertise

Eligibility for energy rebates
Good news: this installation is eligible for Hydro-Québec’s LogisVert rebate program. The BU series is Energy Star certified and provides optimal cold-weather performance, meeting the energy efficiency requirements for HVAC rebates in Québec.
Our advisors are here to help you navigate the application process and secure financial assistance of up to $2,500, depending on your situation.
Practical tips for owners of wall-mounted heat pumps
-
Regular maintenance: Clean filters monthly and have the unit checked by a pro annually.
-
Watch for unusual sounds: Vibrations may indicate loose anchors or imbalances.
-
Use energy-saving mode to reduce costs while staying comfortable.
-
Take advantage of Plasmacluster: Activate air purification regularly for healthier indoor air.

How it goes, from the first call to the end
The main steps of this kind of job at AirGreen. Every house has its quirks: the estimate brings them out.
We look at the room, the outside wall, the line route and where the outdoor unit will go. That is where the capacity gets chosen.
Model, capacity and price, in writing. We also check whether the model qualifies for assistance programs.
Floors and furniture protected, wall plate position marked level, wall opening located.
A single opening, with the slope the drain needs to flow outside.
Set on a stand raised above the snow, with the clearances the manufacturer requires.
Connected, insulated and protected. The opening is then sealed against water, cold air and insects.
A dedicated circuit and an accessible disconnect near the outdoor unit.
Leak test, vacuum, then start-up and a check of heating and cooling.
Remote, modes, filters: we show you the essentials before we leave.

Among the year’s most efficient according to ENERGY STAR, on top of its cold-climate certification.
Minimum certified capacity (NEEP): it slows down instead of stopping when a single room calls.
NEEP still lists 14,600 BTU/h at a COP of 1.84 at −17 °F.
Global warming potential of R-32, versus 2,088 for R-410A (ENERGY STAR).

And at your place?
Two quick checks with real numbers: what heat costs, and what your current heaters add up to in BTU/h.
Baseboards and electric furnaces turn 1 kWh of electricity into 1 kWh of heat. A heat pump delivers more: that is its COP. At Hydro-Québec’s rate D (11.142¢/kWh above 40 kWh a day, since 1 April 2026):
Hydro-Québec: a heat pump can be up to three times more efficient than baseboards for heating in the colder months.
Estimate per kWh of heat, at the chosen temperature, using the certified COP from the product page. Taxes, access charge and backup heat not included.
Conversion: 1 W = 3.412 BTU/h. An indication, not a load calculation: baseboards and furnaces are often stronger than the real need, and they can stay as backup. AirGreen confirms the capacity on site.
What to do, season by season
Three habits per season for this unit. They take a few minutes and prevent many calls.
- Clean the indoor unit's filters.
- Clear leaves and debris left on the outdoor unit by winter.
- Test cooling before the first hot days.
- Clean the filters more often when the unit runs a lot.
- Keep plants away from the outdoor unit.
- Check that no water drips from the indoor unit.
- Rake the leaves around the outdoor unit.
- Test heating before the first cold days.
- Book periodic maintenance before winter.
- Keep snow away from the stand and the front of the unit.
- Let the unit defrost: it is normal.
- Never hit the ice on the fins; call us if the unit stays iced up.
