5 Unbelievable Air Conditioning Installations You Won’t Believe We’ve Done in Montréal

Discover the most surprising installations carried out by AirGreen in Montréal, Laval, Longueuil, and beyond.

At AirGreen, we have installed a wide range of air conditioning systems across the Montréal, Laval, Longueuil, and the South Shore and North Shore areas, but some installations truly stand out. If you think you’ve seen everything air conditioning technology has to offer, think again! We’ve had the opportunity to install systems in the most unexpected places and configurations. Here are 5 unbelievable air conditioning installations we’ve completed, each with its own unique challenge.

1. Air Conditioning Integrated into a High-End Wine Cellar in Westmount

A wine cellar is a space where temperature and humidity must be maintained at specific levels to preserve the bottles. When we were called to install a custom air conditioning system in a wine cellar in Westmount, the task seemed relatively simple, but an unexpected challenge arose: the space was very small, and the architectural constraints were complex. We installed a Fujitsu KZAH R32 18,000 BTU ductless air conditioner, specifically designed to not alter the room’s aesthetics while maintaining a stable temperature.

This installation required perfect space management and ductless systems, allowing us to maintain the integrity of the cellar while ensuring optimal temperature control for the hundreds of valuable bottles.

2. Installation of a Heat Pump at a Vertigo-Inducing Height in an Apartment in Old Montréal

In the historic Old Montréal district, one of our clients contacted us to install a heat pump system on a 9th-floor balcony. The challenge? The installation was complicated by the lack of space, tight areas, and the impossibility of using scaffolding to access the outdoor unit.

We opted for a solution using a Gree 24,000 BTU heat pump, overcoming the difficulty of reaching the height by using a crane to lift the outdoor unit while minimizing risks to pedestrians and respecting the constraints of the historic building.

3. Air Conditioning for a Floating House on the Saint Lawrence River

Another unique project took us to install air conditioning in a floating house on the Saint Lawrence River. The unique location of this house on the water posed numerous challenges, particularly in terms of resistance to humidity and equipment durability.

For this installation, we chose a Gree Extreme 12,000 BTU system, designed to withstand harsh maritime conditions with saltwater-resistant materials. The system not only maintained optimal comfort inside the house, but it also helped regulate humidity, which is crucial in such a specific environment.

4. Air Conditioning in an Attic Loft in Griffintown

An attic loft in Griffintown presented a particular challenge due to the sloping roof structure and cramped spaces. In addition to challenges related to ductwork, the air conditioner needed to be installed in such a way that it didn’t disturb the open living space.

We chose a Fujitsu KZAH 18,000 BTU wall-mounted air conditioner, allowing for a discreet installation while providing enough power to cool the entire loft. With careful work, we integrated the unit into a corner of the room, maximizing space use without compromising the aesthetics.

5. Air Conditioning in an Urban Greenhouse in Verdun

One of our most fascinating projects involved installing air conditioning in an urban greenhouse in Verdun. There were many challenges: maintaining an optimal temperature for the plants while ensuring the air circulation needed to prevent mold formation and maintain stable humidity.

For this installation, we used a central air conditioning system with flexible ducts, adapted for large spaces. This system efficiently managed temperatures while respecting the necessary conditions for plant growth, and we installed sensors to monitor the temperature and humidity inside the greenhouse in real time.
