You are attached to your smart thermostat, while the house is heated and cooled by a GENERAL or Fujitsu AIRSTAGE heat pump, ducted or ductless. The GENERAL AIRSTAGE UTY-TTRXZ1 thermostat converter reconciles the two, and it is exactly the same part as its Fujitsu AIRSTAGE version: the manufacturer, Fujitsu General Limited, simply took the name GENERAL Inc. on January 1, 2026. With it, a 24 V AC thermostat from another brand, a Honeywell or a Nest for example, can control an AIRSTAGE (GENERAL or Fujitsu) or Halcyon indoor unit. On the wall, you keep the screen you know; in the indoor unit, the commands arrive in a language it understands.

This name change follows the company's acquisition by Paloma Rheem Holdings; the factories, the AIRSTAGE products and the model numbers are the same as before. The Fujitsu brand is gradually making way for GENERAL, so for a while the same part carries two names. An authorized dealer for both brands, AirGreen offers you the GENERAL version or the same part under the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE brand, your choice.

The bridge between an ordinary thermostat and your AIRSTAGE unit

AIRSTAGE and Halcyon indoor units talk with their own controllers. An ordinary thermostat works differently: each call for heat, cooling or ventilation goes out on a 24 V terminal. The UTY-TTRXZ1 acts as the interpreter: it translates those calls for the indoor unit. It handles multi-speed ventilation and can control up to 16 indoor units as a group, all with the same settings, an interesting option for a large open area or a commercial space where several units have to work in concert.

The converter draws its power from the indoor unit (12.72 to 19.08 V DC, 0.6 W maximum) and connects to it with a non-polarized 2- or 3-conductor PVC cable. The thermostat, for its part, needs a 24 V AC supply: a 24 V AC transformer therefore has to be planned on site, as it is not supplied with the converter. The exact thermostat terminals and the available functions also vary with the unit and thermostat combination. Our technicians place the converter in a spot that is accessible for maintenance and connect it to the indoor unit. They install the 24 V AC transformer the thermostat needs, then wire and configure the thermostat you chose. Every call is checked: heating, cooling and fan speeds. If the thermostat is programmable or smart, we then set up with you a schedule designed for the heat pump: small setbacks at night rather than large swings, for better comfort and better efficiency when it is cold.

Maintenance

The converter itself requires no particular maintenance: keep its housing dry, protected from construction dust, and leave it accessible. What really matters is regular maintenance of the indoor unit, meaning the filters, the coil and the drain. For the thermostat, change the batteries if it uses any, check the time after a power outage and keep it away from heat sources and drafts, so that its calls faithfully reflect the room temperature. The day you change thermostats, the converter will stay in place: only the wall device is replaced, with no work on the indoor unit.
