BRADFORD WHITE RE240S6-1NCPP Electric Water Heater (38 gallons) | Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, South Shore & North Shore
A 38 US gallon tank for a couple or a young family, installed before the old one gives out
The water heater is the appliance everyone forgets until the day it leaks. For a couple or a young family living in a townhouse, a semi-detached home or a roomy condo, the Bradford White RE240S6-1NCPP electric water heater is a simple, durable replacement: a reserve of 38 US gallons (32 imperial gallons, 140 L), a tank protected by the Vitraglas with Microban lining and a 6-year warranty on the tank and on parts. AirGreen installs it in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, on the South Shore and on the North Shore.
The size for townhouses and semi-detached homes
With a 140 L reserve, the RE240S6-1NCPP meets the needs of two or three people sharing a main bathroom well. It leaves enough hot water for a shower, a dishwasher and a load of laundry in the same evening, without the volume of a large family tank that would heat water for nothing. If the house has two bathrooms used in the morning or the family is growing, a larger capacity is worth considering; we discuss it during the assessment.
After a pre-purchase inspection or a question from the insurer
Many homeowners replace their water heater following a pre-purchase inspection report that notes an old tank, or because their insurer asks for the unit's age at renewal. In both cases, it is better to plan the replacement than to suffer it. A planned replacement happens on the date that suits you, without water damage, and gives you time to compare options, for example between a conventional electric tank and a heat pump water heater.
Conventional tank or heat pump
A heat pump water heater uses less electricity, but it needs a room large enough to supply it with air, a drain for condensate water and more height. In a townhouse or condo where the water heater sits in a closed closet, these conditions are rarely met. A conventional electric tank like the RE240S6-1NCPP can then be installed almost anywhere, runs silently and needs very little maintenance. During the assessment, we look at the space with you and recommend the solution that truly suits your home.

What makes a tank last
Three construction details matter for the life of an electric water heater. First, the internal lining: Bradford White's Vitraglas with Microban isolates the steel of the tank from the water. Next, the factory-installed dielectric fittings on the 3/4 in. NPT connections, which separate the steel of the tank from the copper of the plumbing and limit galvanic corrosion. Finally, the screw-in immersion elements: when an element wears out, it can be replaced without touching the tank.
A 61 W standby loss
Bradford White publishes a standby loss of 61 W for this model, meaning the heat the tank gives off to the room on average when nobody is using hot water. This value reflects the quality of the insulation around the tank. The lower it is, the less the elements need to restart to maintain the temperature between uses. In a cool basement, we also insulate the first few feet of hot water piping to keep that heat where it belongs.
Electrical supply and configuration
The RE240S6-1NCPP is configured by default for non-simultaneous operation: its elements heat one after the other, never together. Simultaneous operation exists, but it must be specified when ordering. The element wattage of the unit ordered is confirmed with the order and written in your quote, because it determines the breaker and the conductor size. In a house, the unit is fed by a two-pole 240 V circuit; we check that the existing circuit is suitable before reusing it.
Manufacturer's warranty
Bradford White gives the RE240S6-1NCPP a 6-year limited warranty on the tank and 6 years on parts. The detailed terms are provided with the quote.

After a free on-site estimate, we give you a written quote and set the date that suits you. Installation includes:
- assessing the location, the available height and the nearest drain;
- draining, disconnecting and removing the old tank;
- connecting the cold and hot water in 3/4 in. NPT;
- installing a new relief valve and its discharge line;
- the electrical connection according to the confirmed wattage;
- filling the tank, purging air at the taps and powering up;
- setting the temperature and our maintenance advice.
Checks you can do yourself
Between maintenance visits, a few quick looks are enough. Check the base of the tank and the floor around it from time to time: any sign of moisture deserves a call. Make sure the relief valve line is not dripping, and keep the space in front of the unit clear for maintenance. Once a year, a partial flush and an anode inspection extend the life of the tank; we can take care of them during a visit.

We work in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, Auteuil, Fabreville, Lachine, Saint-Bruno, Sainte-Julie and everywhere on the South Shore and the North Shore. If you want to spread out the payment, our financing is presented with the quote.
