BRADFORD WHITE CEHD120 45 to 54 kW Commercial Electric Water Heater (119 gallons) | Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, South Shore & North Shore
A large reserve and strong recovery together: 119 US gallons and nine elements for industrial and institutional projects
Some establishments face both challenges at once: very high hot water demand during peaks and sustained use the rest of the time. For them, choosing between volume and power is not an option. The Bradford White CEHD120 commercial electric water heater, in its nine-element version offered at 45 kW or 54 kW, brings both together. It pairs a 119 US gallon tank (100 imperial gallons, 450 L) with nine Incoloy-sheathed elements, enough to absorb a large peak and then rebuild the reserve quickly. AirGreen installs it in industrial, commercial and institutional buildings in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, the South Shore and the North Shore.
Volume and power together: for which establishments
- Plants where employees shower at the end of each shift, while washing processes continue during production.
- Caterers and reception halls, which move from prep to service to heavy dishwashing during large events.
- Institutional central kitchens that prepare meals for several sites.
- Food distribution centres, where bins and containers are washed continuously.
For more modest demand, a three- or six-element version of the same tank will often be more appropriate. We always start from your real consumption profile before recommending nine elements.

An engineering project as much as an installation
At this power level, the water heater is often part of a project governed by plans and specifications. The options provided by Bradford White make that work easier: according to the manufacturer’s documentation, ASME construction is available, NSF kits are offered for food environments and the design is UL certified for field conversion. We work from the engineer’s requirements when there is one, and help you define them when there is not one yet.
600 V buildings and three-phase supply
Many industrial buildings are supplied with 600 V three-phase power. The CEHD120 adapts to them, since it is ordered at 208 V, 240 V, 277 V, 380 V, 415 V, 480 V or 600 V, and all units are shipped from the factory as standard three-phase models. One manufacturer rule is worth remembering: on 600 V models, only conversion of the kW rating is permitted. Voltage and phase must therefore be determined precisely before ordering, which we do on site from the electrical service and the planned panel.
45 kW or 54 kW depending on the production profile
The nine-element version offers only two power ratings, and the manufacturer allows switching from one to the other. The choice is based on the peak to be covered, the length of the periods of sustained use and the available electrical capacity. Depending on the establishment’s electricity rate, power demand can also weigh on the bill: it is therefore wise to select the power that truly covers the need, and convert the unit later if production grows.
Handling and location
At 30 1/4 in. in diameter, 64 11/16 in. in height and 430 lb empty, the CEHD120 is moved with suitable equipment, such as a forklift or a powered hand truck, and a clear route to the mechanical room. Once filled, it requires a slab or structure able to carry its weight. The location must also include a floor drain for the relief valve and flushing, generous clearance in front of the access panels of the nine elements and protection against impact in areas where machinery moves.
Day-to-day reliability
The elements, sheathed in Incoloy, a corrosion-resistant alloy, are screw-in and are replaced individually. The factory-installed true dielectric fittings protect the joint between the tank and the piping, the Vitraglas lining with Microban protects the inside of the tank, and the vandal-resistant brass drain valve stands up to handling in a busy workplace.
A maintenance program that matches the use
A nine-element unit that works all day deserves a planned maintenance program. We recommend at least one visit a year, and more often for the most intensive uses: flushing through the low-restriction valve, checking each element and the tightness of its connections, testing the relief valve and verifying the settings. We schedule these visits during production shutdowns or quiet periods.
What is set at ordering
The full model number of a CEHD specifies the power, voltage, phase and ASME option. It is set with you according to the project’s requirements, then confirmed at ordering. The manufacturer’s warranty terms that apply to the selected unit are stated in the written quote.
Installation of the Bradford White CEHD120 (45 to 54 kW) by AirGreen
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal, active for more than fifteen years in heating, ventilation and air conditioning and holder of RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 (ventilation, refrigeration and electrical). For a unit of this scale, we handle everything from the electrical analysis to commissioning, in coordination with your maintenance staff. Our work includes:
- a free on-site assessment of demand, the electrical service, the mechanical room and the handling route;
- a recommendation on power, voltage, phase and options, confirmed in a written quote;
- draining and removing the old unit, then disposing of it;
- connecting the cold and hot water in 1 1/2 in., the relief valve and its discharge;
- the electrical connections, made under our RBQ licence;
- commissioning, temperature settings and a check of all nine elements;
- a maintenance program handed to your team.
Service area
We work in Montreal, including Saint-Laurent, Anjou, Lachine and Pointe-Claire, in Laval, Longueuil, Boucherville, Mirabel and throughout the South Shore and the North Shore.
