A no-frills unit
The N4A324GKG is the outdoor unit of Arcoaire’s N4A3 central air conditioner, the manufacturer’s entry-level line. Everything is designed to cover the essentials: a scroll compressor, single-stage cooling, a single-speed fan and a coil made of copper tubes and aluminum fins, protected by a grille (the G right after the 24 in the model number). It runs on R-410A and its nominal size is 2 tons (24,000 BTU/h).
Arcoaire presents it as a 13 SEER air conditioner. This nominal rating, which predates the SEER2 standard, depends on the matched coil: with an EN(A,D)4X24L14** coil and a TXV, the manufacturer publishes 23,000 BTU/h, 13.00 SEER and 11.00 EER. Its published sound power is 74 dBA, with or without a sound shield.
Compact, for city lots
On a townhouse or semi-detached lot, every foot counts. The N4A324GKG stands 25-5/16 in high on a 23-1/8 in square base (643 x 587 mm) and weighs 107 lb in operation. It fits easily in a side yard or behind a hedge, as long as the manufacturer’s line lengths are respected: a TXV is required beyond 50 ft (15.2 m) of total length or 20 ft (6.1 m) of vertical separation.
Indoors, it connects to a coil set on your electric furnace or housed in an air handler, not included. The heating does not change: this air conditioner only cools.

Why a 13 SEER rating and not a SEER2 rating?
The N4A3 documentation predates the SEER2 standard: Arcoaire publishes 13 SEER nominal. For the combination with an EN(A,D)4X24L14** coil and a TXV, the manufacturer lists 23,000 BTU/h, 13.00 SEER and 11.00 EER.
Does the warranty cover a unit I rent out?
The manufacturer states that its warranty is for owner-occupied residential applications. If the unit is meant for a rental dwelling, talk to us about it before buying.
How much room is needed outside?
