What the R4A324BKA is

The R4A324BKA is the 2-ton (24,000 BTU/h) outdoor unit of the R4A3 series from the manufacturer ICP, the group behind Arcoaire units. It is a cooling-only R-410A condensing unit, with a scroll compressor and an aluminum tube coil. Its spec sheet prints the full model R4A324BKA100. It is available while supplies last.

It suits people who want central air without unnecessary extras: the house already has an electric furnace and ductwork, cool air is needed in summer, and the budget matters. It works with a matched indoor section, a coil on the furnace or a fan coil. The manufacturer's rating is established with the EN(A,D)4X24L14 section.

What to know about an end-of-line model

We prefer to be clear. The R4A3 spec sheet predates the switch to SEER2: it publishes 13.0 SEER and 11.0 EER based on the tested combination, and no SEER2 rating. We do not convert those figures. If efficiency is your priority, we will also show you newer units to compare.

The warranty published on the spec sheet covers residential applications: 5 years on the compressor, 5 years on parts (compressor and coil included), and 5 more years on parts with timely registration. The ICP warranty certificate states that registration is not a condition in Quebec. Labour is never covered by the manufacturer.

Finally, this condensing unit does not heat. Sold alone, it is not eligible for the LogisVert grant.

How it is installed at your home

With an operating weight of 97 lb (44 kg), the R4A324BKA stays easy to handle on site. On the electrical side, the spec sheet calls for a 208/230 V single-phase circuit with a 14.0 A minimum ampacity and a 20 A maximum time-delay fuse; we check the room left in your panel during the estimate. The dimensions printed on the spec sheet are not legible enough to publish here: we confirm them before preparing the pad. The refrigerant piping can reach 250 ft of equivalent length, following the manufacturer's guidelines.
