GENERAL or Fujitsu floor consoles are popular in Québec: installed under a window or in the basement, they blow heat at floor level, where the cold is felt first. To control them, however, people often make do with a small remote that ends up going astray. The GENERAL AIRSTAGE UTY-RVNUM wired wall controller settles the matter with a large backlit LCD screen mounted on the wall, which shows the room temperature and opens access to a complete weekly timer. It is the same part as the UTY-RVNUM sold under the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE name, since Fujitsu General Limited became GENERAL Inc. on January 1, 2026.

Only the brand changes. The manufacturer, now owned by Paloma Rheem Holdings, produces the same controller in the same factories, under the same model number, and the Fujitsu name will gradually fade out in favour of GENERAL. In the meantime, AirGreen, an authorized GENERAL and Fujitsu AIRSTAGE dealer, offers this GENERAL model as well as the same part under the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE brand.

A 3-wire controller designed for floor consoles

The UTY-RVNUM is intended for 3-wire indoor units, GENERAL or Fujitsu, and first of all for floor models. The manufacturer also reports limited compatibility with certain single-zone wall-mounted heat pumps, according to its compatibility chart. We therefore start by noting the exact model number of your indoor unit before offering you this controller; if the unit is not on the chart, we steer you toward the controller that suits it.

Power comes from the indoor unit: 12 VDC, 1.2 W maximum. The connection is made with a sheathed, polarized 3-conductor PVC cable, and that polarity is unforgiving: each conductor has to land on the right terminal, which calls for rigorous work. It is in fact one of the reasons we recommend leaving the installation to a technician.

Weekly schedules and setpoint limits

The UTY-RVNUM's weekly timer can start or stop the unit, change the mode and adjust the setpoint by time and day. Automatic shutoff, for its part, turns the unit off after a preset time: very handy in a playroom, a workshop or any room where people often forget to switch it off.

The controller also lets you impose a maximum setpoint and a minimum setpoint for each mode. In a rental unit, an office or a common room, these limits prevent overheating in winter or overcooling in summer, while leaving occupants a reasonable margin of adjustment.

Two controllers for one unit, or one for sixteen

The UTY-RVNUM lends itself to flexible setups. Two controllers can run the same unit, which is convenient in a large room with two entrances, or in a basement where you want one control at the top of the stairs and another near the console. Conversely, a single controller can manage up to 16 indoor units, a useful formula for a commercial space or an open area equipped with several consoles. The screen is also multilingual, an advantage in buildings where occupants come and go.

Against the other 3-wire controllers

In the manufacturer's family of 3-wire controllers, the UTY-RSNUM serves as the simplified model: it handles modes and temperature, without weekly programming. The UTY-RNBYU, with its timer and built-in sensor, is aimed instead at other previous-generation equipment: wall-mounted units, ceiling units and cassettes. What sets the UTY-RVNUM apart: the large backlit multilingual screen, setpoint limits specific to each mode and dual control. For a floor console that works hard, it is the most complete choice.

We recommend it above all for finished basements, additions to an existing house, enclosed verandas and small businesses where a console provides the main heating. In these spaces, a readable wall control, programmed once and for all, makes life easier for everyone.

AirGreen handles installation, settings and maintenance

The controller's location is decided with you; our technicians then pull the 3-conductor cable from the console to the wall, land each conductor on its terminal and mount the housing. If two controllers run the same unit, or if several units report to one controller, we configure the addressing and test each combination. What remains after that is programming the weekly timer, choosing the display language and, where applicable, setting the setpoint limits.

Saving energy during the winter

A floor console heats a room best when its setpoint is steady. With the UTY-RVNUM's weekly timer, you apply moderate setbacks at night or during absences, instead of full shutdowns that force the unit to restart hard when it is very cold. In a basement that sees little use during the week, you hold a base temperature and only return to comfort in the evening or on the weekend. In rental units, the setpoint limits per mode round out these savings.

Our maintenance tips

  1. A console's filter gets dirty fast: sitting close to the floor, it draws in more dust than a wall-mounted unit, so clean it regularly.
  2. Do not block the front of the console with furniture or curtains, so that the air circulates freely.
  3. Run a soft, dry cloth over the controller's screen.
  4. When the power comes back after a long outage, check the time and the programs.
  5. Book an annual inspection of the unit with our technicians.
