Wi-Fi Module GENERAL AIRSTAGE FJ-IR-WIFI-1NA | Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, South Shore & North Shore
Some installations do not lend themselves well to opening the indoor unit or adding an interface board.
Quick facts
Opening the indoor unit or grafting an interface board onto it is not always possible, or desirable. The GENERAL AIRSTAGE FJ-IR-WIFI-1NA infrared Wi-Fi module gets around the obstacle: mounted on the wall of the room, it sends its commands to the unit by infrared, just as the remote would, and needs no wiring to the indoor unit. As for its identity, only the name changes: under the GENERAL designation, you get exactly the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE FJ-IR-WIFI-1NA (see the same part under the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE brand). The manufacturer, Fujitsu General Limited, has been named GENERAL Inc. since January 1, 2026, following its acquisition by Paloma Rheem Holdings; everything else, factories, AIRSTAGE range and model numbers, is identical. As GENERAL takes over from the Fujitsu name, the two labels coexist on the same part, and AirGreen, an authorized GENERAL and Fujitsu AIRSTAGE dealer, offers either one.
Your heat pump on your phone, with nothing taken apart
The module joins the home's 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n); from then on, everything happens in the Intesis AC Cloud Control app, on iOS as well as Android, or in a web page. From your phone, you start your Halcyon heat pump, change the mode or setpoint and read the current room temperature. The schedule programmer then applies your settings on its own, by time and day.
On top of that come geolocation, the weather forecast and voice control, in a multilingual app. On the electrical side, the module runs on 5 VDC (0.2 A), so a power source has to be planned near the spot where it will be mounted.
Compatible units
The list of Halcyon (GENERAL or Fujitsu) units that accept the FJ-IR-WIFI-1NA is long. On the wall-mounted side: ASU 7/9/12RLF, 7/9/12RLF1, 9/12/15RLS2, 9/12/15RLS3, 18/24RLF, 18CL, 24CL1, 30/36CLX1, 30RLX, 18/24RLB, 30/36RLXB and 9/12RL2. Added to these are the AGU9/12/15RLF floor consoles, the AUU7-18RLF compact cassettes and the ABU36RSLX ceiling unit. As for the ARU7-24RLF slim duct units, hidden in the ceiling, they go through the UTY-LRHUM infrared receiver to accept it.

Who it is for
This module is aimed first at owners of an existing Halcyon unit who want remote control without anyone touching the equipment. It also appeals to owners of cottages and second homes, who like to find the place warm when they arrive, and to dwellings where a solution that comes off effortlessly is preferred. Thanks to the schedules, the setpoint drops at night and during absences, then rises again at the right time: over a Québec heating season, the savings are very real.
With geolocation, operation adapts to whether you are there or away; the weather forecast, for its part, shows you an approaching cold snap before you even leave the city for the weekend. Since nothing is plugged in inside the unit, the module is easy to move if you rearrange the room, as long as it keeps a direct view of the receiver and a power supply nearby.
The FJ-AC-WIFI-1 interface, for example, plugs into the unit's CN65 port; the FJ-IR-WIFI-1NA, for its part, installs without any work inside the equipment: nothing to open, nothing to connect inside. The trade-off: it controls the unit the way a remote does, which calls for a clear line of sight at all times.
The right spot, then the setup
Everything comes down to the choice of location: the module must "see" the unit's receiver with no obstacle and pick up a good Wi-Fi signal. Once that spot is found, our technicians sort out the power supply, mount the module, pair it with the app and go through every command. If the unit is a slim duct model, the UTY-LRHUM receiver is part of the installation. We then program your first schedules with you.
Maintenance
The infrared signal does not go through obstacles: a moved piece of furniture, a plant that has grown or a drawn curtain can be enough to cut it off, so keep the way clear between the module and the unit. If you change routers, the connection has to be redone. On the indoor unit side, clean filters remain the foundation: clean them regularly.
