Quick facts
The extended oval-to-round fitting joins an oval duct to a round duct on the same axis, like the universal fitting, but with a longer body. That length lets it pass through a sole plate, a floor or another thickness and make the transition in a single piece. It is available in 5 and 6 in.
Fewer pieces between the wall and the basement
At the foot of a riser, the oval duct has to go through the wall’s sole plate and the subfloor before meeting the round branch. With a short transition, you often have to add a piece of oval or round duct, which means one more joint in a hard-to-reach spot. The extended fitting covers that distance in one go. Fewer joints in a closed cavity means less risk of air leaks that no one will ever see.
Universal or extended?
- Universal fitting: when the transition is made in the open, in an unobstructed spot.
- Extended fitting: when it has to pass through a thickness or reach a duct that is farther away.
The exact body length is not shown here. If space is critical, send us the distance to cover before ordering.
Installation
Take the size of your oval duct. Cut the opening in the sole plate or the floor, slide the fitting in, then screw and seal both joints with aluminum tape or mastic before closing up.

Frequently asked questions
When should I choose the long transition?
When the transition has to pass through a plate, a floor or another thickness, or reach a round duct farther away, without adding a stub of duct.
How long is it?
It is not listed here. Write to us with the distance to cover and we will confirm before you order.
Can it be cut?
We advise against cutting a transition: you risk damaging the joint. Adjust the straight duct instead.
Can you install it?
Yes. We build oval-duct risers and their connections across Greater Montréal.
