A typical service call in the heat
At AirGreen , we know that a broken wall-mounted air conditioner in the middle of a heatwave can quickly turn a home's comfort into a furnace. This is exactly what happened in a residence in Sainte-Julie , on the South Shore of Montreal , where we were urgently called to intervene on a Carrier wall-mounted system showing signs of weakness.
The customer contacted us after noticing that their unit was blowing lukewarm air despite the remote being set to 20°C. The unit, installed in an open-plan space, was struggling to maintain the temperature, which directly affected the comfort of the home.
Accurate diagnosis: beyond simple loss of cold
Upon our arrival, our certified technician performed a complete inspection of the system . The initial findings revealed:
-
A build-up of dust in the filter and on the evaporator;
-
Low airflow , a sign of possible fan fouling;
-
Abnormally low refrigerant pressure , indicating a micro-leak in the circuit.
We then checked the temperature sensor and the electronic card : the measurements were stable, which allowed us to rule out an electronic fault. Attention was therefore focused on the refrigeration circuit .
Intervention: rigor and precision signed AirGreen
The Carrier unit in question was part of a wall-mounted series typical of South Shore residences. After confirming the leak with a nitrogen pressure test , our team:
-
Locate the leak using an electronic detector;
-
Repaired the defective copper tube using silver solder;
-
Performed a complete vacuum to remove all traces of moisture;
-
Recharged the system with R-410A refrigerant according to the manufacturer's specifications;
-
Checked operating pressures and blowing temperature to ensure optimal performance.
After these steps, the system returned to its original performance: blowing at 9°C and stable pressure on both sides of the circuit.
Result: comfort restored and efficiency restored
A few minutes after the service was restarted, the difference was palpable: the ambient temperature quickly dropped, and the customer was able to regain the comfort he was looking for .
We took the opportunity to carry out a complete cleaning of the filter and turbine , and to remind the customer of the importance of annual maintenance .
Our recommendations:
-
Clean the filters every two months;
-
Check the condition of the condensate drains to avoid overflows;
-
Schedule a professional inspection before each summer to prevent leaks and extend the life of the unit.
Why Carrier wall systems remain reliable
Carrier wall-mounted air conditioners are renowned for their robustness and durability. However, like all heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment, they require regular maintenance . Even a small leak can cause a significant loss of efficiency and an increase in electricity consumption.
Our technicians, trained on all major brands (Carrier, Gree, Fujitsu, Sharp, Midea, Goodman, etc.) , have the necessary tools to intervene quickly, whether it is:
-
From a compressor problem ;
-
From an electronic card failure ;
-
From a refrigerant leak ;
-
From a blockage of the interior fan .
