Repair of a Fujitsu wall-mounted heat pump in Brossard

Rapid intervention for restored comfort in the middle of summer

At AirGreen , we were recently called to intervene in Brossard , on the South Shore of Montreal , for a problem with a Fujitsu wall-mounted heat pump that was no longer blowing cold air. The owner, worried about the approach of a period of sustained heat, had noticed that the indoor unit was working, but the air outlet temperature remained lukewarm, despite the setpoint being set to the minimum.

Accurate diagnosis: loss of efficiency due to a refrigerant leak

Upon our arrival, we carried out a complete diagnosis:

  • The indoor fan was working properly.

  • The swinging shutter responded well to the controls.

  • The external compressor started, but without reaching the expected pressure.

Using our pressure recovery and analysis station , we confirmed an R410A refrigerant leak in the copper line connecting the units. A UV lamp inspection revealed a microleak at a loose flare connection , a fairly common problem on older installations.

Detailed repair steps

1. Securing and preparing the refrigeration line

We began by safely recovering the residual gas, in accordance with the environmental standards of the Quebec Ministry of the Environment . Both ends of the circuit were purged and cleaned before tightening the defective connection.

2. Repair the fitting and tighten to controlled torque

The flare connection was completely redone, then tightened using a torque wrench to ensure a perfect seal without the risk of future micro-leaks.

3. Leak test and system recharge

We then subjected the circuit to a nitrogen pressure test for 30 minutes, with no pressure drop observed. The complete recharge with R410A was carried out according to Fujitsu specifications.

4. Complete cleaning of the filter and indoor coil

Taking advantage of the intervention, we also carried out a deep cleaning of the evaporator coil and air filters, in order to eliminate accumulated dust and improve air flow.

5. Performance Verification

After restarting, the heat pump reached optimal performance :

  • Blown air temperature: 9°C

  • Stable start cycle

  • Reduced noise level thanks to a well-balanced fan

Result: efficiency restored and comfort guaranteed

The customer immediately noticed the difference: in less than 10 minutes, the room temperature had dropped by 4 degrees. This type of intervention clearly illustrates the importance of regular maintenance and professional diagnostics to preserve the longevity of wall-mounted HVAC systems.

We also recommended:

  • An annual inspection before each summer.

  • Cleaning the coil with gentle steam every two years.

  • A preventative pressure test to avoid long-term refrigerant losses.
