An HVAC solution adapted to Montreal brick plexes
In a residential area of Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension , our AirGreen team recently completed the installation of a Sharp Eco Inverter wall-mounted heat pump . The building, a typical Montreal red brick duplex, presented a classic installation context but required special attention to the choice of support and the management of refrigeration connections.
Context and customer choice
The owner was looking for a versatile system to provide efficient heating in winter and comfortable cooling in summer , while enjoying better energy performance. The Sharp Eco Inverter range offers an optimal balance of efficiency, durability and quiet operation, all with the exclusive Plasmacluster technology, which improves indoor air quality.
Technical specifications of the installation
-
Device type : wall-mounted heat pump (mini-split).
-
Make and model : Sharp Eco Inverter with Plasmacluster technology.
-
Typical capacity : 12,000 BTU, suitable for a home of approximately 1,000 sq ft.
-
Condenser location : fixed to the exterior brick wall, approximately 1.2 m from the ground.
-
Support used : reinforced galvanized wall brackets, allowing optimal clearance from the ground to prevent snow accumulation and ensure air circulation.
-
Refrigeration connections : protected by discreet external capping, ensuring protection against bad weather and a neat finish.
-
Condensate drainage : gravity system, adapted to the installation height.
Challenges and solutions provided
-
Solid brick walls :
Drilling into an old brick wall requires precision and specialized equipment to prevent cracking. Our technicians used sturdy anchors to ensure a lasting hold. -
Facade aesthetics :
The owner wanted to minimize the visual impact of the installation. We opted for capping that matched the facade , ensuring both protection and discretion. -
Winter performance :
Given that Montreal experiences harsh winters, we took care to install the unit at a sufficient height to avoid any obstruction by snow and to facilitate automatic defrosting.
Benefits for the customer
-
Year-round comfort : efficient heating down to sub-zero temperatures and effective air conditioning during summer heat waves.
-
Healthier air : thanks to Plasmacluster technology, which reduces suspended particles and improves air quality.
-
Energy savings : an inverter device that modulates its power to reduce electricity consumption.
-
Simplified maintenance : installation designed for easy access during annual maintenance visits.
