Installation of a Sharp wall-mounted heat pump in Ahuntsic-Cartierville

A modern comfort solution for a Montreal condo

At AirGreen , we recently completed the installation of a Sharp wall-mounted heat pump in a condo in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville district of Montreal. The goal was to offer the client an energy-efficient, quiet and efficient solution, perfectly suited to the configuration of her urban home.

The chosen wall unit, from the Sharp ZU1 range, met the essential criteria: reliable heating performance down to low temperatures, air conditioning comfort in summer and discreet integration into a modern living space.

Project analysis and installation preparation

Before proceeding, our team conducted a comprehensive assessment of the condo's thermal needs , which covered approximately 900 sq. ft. Several factors guided our selection and planning:

  • Exposure : the large bay window in the living room encouraged solar gain in summer, requiring suitable air conditioning capacity.

  • Insulation : well-insulated walls reduced losses, allowing the sizing of the heat pump to be optimized.

  • Accessibility : the wall installation had to be done on an interior wall directly overlooking a facade, which simplified the piping route and reduced the work.

These parameters determined that a 12,000 BTU unit was ideally suited to provide consistent comfort throughout the main space.

Key steps of installation

Fixing and strategic location

The indoor unit was mounted high on a central wall, promoting even air distribution throughout the living room and open-plan kitchen. The optimal height also allowed for more efficient operation in heating mode in winter.

Passage of conduits

We opted for a discreet piercing of the exterior facade , with a pipe route limited to approximately 2.5 meters. Everything was carefully covered with white capping in harmony with the aesthetics of the building.

Drainage management

A gravity drainage system was chosen, allowing condensation water to drain naturally, without requiring an additional pump.

Electrical connection

The proximity of the electrical panel facilitated the installation of a dedicated circuit breaker , ensuring safety and compliance with RBQ standards.

Results achieved and benefits for the customer

From the moment it was put into service, the difference was noticeable:

  • Immediate comfort : a stable and pleasant temperature in all the main rooms.

  • Remarkable silence : the Sharp unit is known for its low noise level, which is ideal in a condo setting.

  • Energy savings : thanks to its high energy efficiency, the customer will benefit from a reduction in their electricity bill, particularly in mid-season heating mode.

  • Grant eligibility : This Energy Star model allows you to benefit from financial assistance programs such as LogisVert and certain municipal subsidies, reducing the overall cost of the investment.
