Installation of a Gree wall-mounted heat pump in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie

In this project, our AirGreen team was called in to work on a family home in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie , Montreal. The homeowners wanted to finally say goodbye to temperature differences between rooms, stifling summer evenings in the living room, and soaring electricity bills every winter.

Our recommendation: the installation of a Gree wall-mounted heat pump , perfectly suited to the configuration of their main living area.

The setting: a family living room in the heart of the house

The room to be air-conditioned and heated is a multi-purpose living room :

  • unobstructed central green wall – ideal for air circulation,

  • relaxation area with leather armchair,

  • large wooden cabinet filled with books, family photos and school supplies.

It's a typical Rosemont room: warm, well-used, where people spend both winter evenings and summer afternoons. Before we worked on it, comfort depended mainly on electric baseboard heaters and an old portable fan. The result:

  • stifling heat in the summer,

  • dry air and cold areas in winter,

  • high energy costs.

The clients wanted a quiet, discreet and efficient heating solution, without major construction work.

Equipment choice: a Gree wall-mounted heat pump

To meet these needs, we proposed a Gree single-zone wall-mounted heat pump , with a capacity of approximately 12,000 BTU , ideal for this living room and adjacent rooms.

Without specifying a precise model number, we are in the range of Gree's new generation wall-mounted heat pumps , designed for:

  • to offer excellent energy efficiency in both air conditioning and heating modes;

  • to function stably during Quebec's cold weather ;

  • maintain a very low noise level , both indoors and outdoors;

  • allow simple control with remote control (temperature, fan speed, night mode, dehumidification, etc.).

The clean white finish of the wall unit blends perfectly with the existing decor: the green wall remains clearly visible, and the heat pump becomes a discreet element, more stylish than an imposing appliance.

Installation details visible in the photo

The photo clearly shows several important aspects of a successful installation:

  1. Positioned high up on the central wall
    The Gree wall unit is installed near the ceiling, in the center of the wall. This position allows:

    • good air extraction at the top of the room;

    • a homogeneous distribution of air conditioning throughout the living area;

    • to avoid direct airflow onto occupants seated in the armchair or near the furniture.

  2. Wall clear beneath the device
    The wall is intentionally left free beneath the heat pump. This ensures:

    • optimal clearance in front of the unit;

    • no obstruction of airflow;

    • a more even flow of traffic throughout the living room.

  3. Harmonious integration into the room
    Positioned between the living room area and the large wooden cabinet, the Gree heat pump integrates naturally into family life:

    • it does not block any storage space;

    • it does not interfere with traffic flow;

    • It remains visually understated, letting family photos and memories take center stage.

  4. Discreet management of conduits
    The refrigerant lines and condensation drain are routed to the outside through the back of the wall. This makes the connection invisible in the room, reinforcing the impression of an integrated unit rather than a temporary addition.

Work carried out outdoors (summary)

Although the photo only shows the indoor unit, the complete installation of course includes the installation of the Gree outdoor compressor .

Our technicians have:

  • fixed the outdoor unit on a raised support , protected from snow accumulation;

  • installed a protective cover over the exposed refrigerant lines;

  • provided an adequate slope for condensate drainage , preventing any accumulation of water near the house;

  • checked the insulation of the pipes to limit energy losses in winter.

Each step is carried out according to the standards in force in Quebec, respecting the recommendations of Gree.

Performance and comfort: what the family gains on a daily basis

Thanks to this Gree wall-mounted heat pump, the family now benefits from:

1. Four-season comfort

  • Summer : efficient air conditioning of the living room and adjacent rooms, with precise temperature control. No more heavy, humid air during Montreal heat waves.

  • Between seasons : possibility of gentle heating without turning on the baseboards throughout the house.

  • Winter : significant contribution to heating, particularly on cool days, with gentle and constant warmth.

2. Silence and tranquility

Gree wall-mounted heat pumps are designed to be very quiet . In a living room where people watch television, or where children read or play, this is essential. Even in heating mode, the operating noise remains discreet.

3. Energy savings

By transferring a large portion of the heating load to the heat pump, the house reduces:

  • its total electricity consumption ;

  • the use of less efficient electric baseboard heaters;

  • its indirect greenhouse gas emissions , thanks to a better COP.

Over the course of a winter, these savings quickly become visible on the bills.

4. Improved air quality

The filtration system integrated into the Gree wall unit allows for:

  • capture dust and particles;

  • better control of humidity (dehumidification mode in summer);

  • to provide a feeling of fresher, healthier air in the living room.

An installation by AirGreen in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie

At AirGreen, we don't just put a machine on the wall. We:

  • Let's analyze the configuration of the house (air volume, orientation, partitioning);

  • Let's size the Gree heat pump according to the actual needs;

  • Let's choose the ideal positioning with you for comfort, performance and aesthetics;

  • Let's take the time to explain the daily operation : modes, basic maintenance, filter cleaning, best practices in winter.

In this Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie project, the approach was the same: complete support, from initial advice to commissioning.

Conclusion: A Gree wall-mounted heat pump perfectly integrated into home life

This Gree wall-mounted heat pump installation in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie perfectly illustrates what we love to achieve:

  • reliable and efficient equipment,

  • a careful integration into a family living space,

  • a tangible improvement in everyday comfort, both summer and winter.
