Installation of a Sharp wall-mounted heat pump in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie

In this project in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie , our AirGreen team was called in to modernize the comfort of a typical Montreal brick house. The homeowner wanted an efficient, discreet heating and cooling solution that would fit with his already energy-conscious lifestyle – as you can see in the photo, an electric vehicle charging station is installed nearby.

We recommended and installed a Sharp Eco Inverter wall-mounted heat pump , from the same family as the Sharp ZU1 series, known for its reliability, performance in cold climates and optimized electricity consumption.

Context: a brick house in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie

The building is a red brick duplex/triplex , very representative of the residential landscape of Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie. The client's main challenges:

  • Making the house comfortable both during summer heatwaves and during the first autumn cold spells ;

  • Reduce reliance on existing heating to lower energy bills;

  • Maintain a clean and tidy facade , without massive installations or visible conduits.

The Sharp wall-mounted heat pump perfectly meets these requirements, combining visual discretion , energy efficiency and four-season versatility .

Choosing the Sharp Eco Inverter wall-mounted heat pump (type ZU1)

For this project, we opted for a Sharp Eco Inverter wall-mounted heat pump , with power adapted to the needs of the main living area (in the 12,000 BTU range, comparable to a Sharp ZU1 ).

Why the Sharp brand for this residence?

  • Inverter technology : the compressor continuously modulates its power, which avoids frequent on/off cycles, reduces consumption and increases the machine's lifespan.

  • Heating performance : ideal for mid-season and milder winter days, the heat pump relieves the main heating system.

  • Quiet operation : a crucial point in urban residential environments, both for the occupants and for the neighbors.

  • Air quality : the presence of Ion Plasmacluster technology (visible on the unit's label) allows for better filtration and treatment of indoor air for a healthier environment.

This combination makes the Sharp Eco Inverter a solution perfectly suited to the needs of a Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie homeowner seeking to combine comfort, efficiency and respect for the environment.

Details of the outdoor installation: stability, protection and aesthetics

The photo clearly shows the Sharp condenser attached to the brick wall, slightly raised above the ground.

1. Elevated wall installation

We installed the condenser:

  • On sturdy wall brackets , sized to support the weight of the unit over time;

  • At a height that protects it from the accumulation of snow, ice and dirt, while also facilitating access for maintenance;

  • With anti-vibration pads and anchors , in order to limit the transmission of vibrations in the structure of the house.

This configuration ensures excellent stability and minimizes perceived noise inside.

2. Discreet management of pipes and cables

The refrigeration lines , power cable, and condensation drain were:

  • Assembled behind a vertical protective cover coordinated with the color of the facade (the visible brown column);

  • Transported in an orderly and safe manner, avoiding excessively tight angles and respecting the recommendations of the manufacturer Sharp;

  • Connected to the indoor unit located upstairs, while limiting the visual impact on the facade.

The result: a clean installation that blends harmoniously with the brickwork , with no visible cables or exposed pipes.

3. Coexistence with the electric charging station

To the left of the Sharp unit, an electric vehicle charging station is visible. It was essential to:

  • Respect the necessary electrical clearances around the terminal;

  • Position the heat pump so as not to interfere with the daily use of the refill;

  • Protect existing cables and junction boxes.

Our technicians therefore coordinated the installation of the Sharp condenser and the presence of the terminal to offer a functional, safe and aesthetic space.

Indoor comfort: air conditioning and heating adapted to the Montreal climate

Once the Sharp outdoor unit was installed, we put the indoor wall head (not visible in the photo) into service, ideally placed to cover the main living area.

In air conditioning mode

In summer, the Sharp wall-mounted heat pump allows you to:

  • To quickly cool down rooms even during Montreal heat waves;

  • To maintain a stable temperature thanks to Inverter modulation;

  • Dehumidifying the air greatly improves the feeling of comfort.

Residents thus benefit from a cool and pleasant environment, without aggressive drafts or sudden temperature changes.

In heating mode

During the autumn and spring, the Sharp Eco Inverter takes over to:

  • To provide economical supplementary heating , reducing the need for the main heating system;

  • To provide uniform comfort in the covered area, without cold zones;

  • Contributing to a reduction in energy bills , which is particularly important given the rise in energy costs.

In winter, it effectively complements the existing system on milder days, thus optimizing overall energy use.
