In Chomedey , a residential area of ​​Laval dominated by brick houses with semi-buried basements and narrow side walkways, we carried out the HVAC installation of a MultiZone Zephyr heat pump intended to serve several rooms of a single-family home. The family wanted:

Choice and installation of the outdoor unit

The Zephyr unit is fixed on galvanized wall brackets anchored in the brick and raised in order to:

• clear the air intake and exhaust grilles;

• maintain the clearances prescribed by the manufacturer;

• protect against snow accumulation and facilitate the flow of defrosting water;

• reduce vibration transmission thanks to high-density silent blocks .

The chosen lateral location ensures free airflow despite the restricted space, while maintaining a safe distance from the spa (electrical standards and thermal clearances). The external disconnect panel is located within visual range, protected from water splashes.

Refrigerated route and drilling management

The refrigerant connections run along the rear facade, at waist height, then rise through discreet light-colored UV cladding to reach the entrances to the three rooms.

• Estimated total length of the connections: 18 to 22 m, divided into three branches.

• Curvature radii respected to preserve the refrigerant charge and limit pressure losses.

• Clean holes with vapor barriers and insulating packing to maintain the airtightness of the envelope.

• Controlled slopes for the flow of condensates on the interior side, promoting gravity drainage without a pump when possible.

The brick wall requires proper anchors and a check of the condition of the air barrier. We have spaced out the fixing points to distribute the load and eliminate the risk of tearing.
The presence of a covered spa requires:

• side clearance for maintenance and air circulation;

• splash protection for wiring ;

• strict management of conduits to avoid accidental contact with hot surfaces or cleaning products.
  The bordering tree was preserved; we oriented the equipment to avoid recirculation of leaves in the grids and planned a seasonal maintenance plan .

Each wall head has been calibrated according to volume, solar orientation and use:

• Living room : airflow optimized for range, positioning avoiding direct blowing towards the rest area.
