Installation of a Sharp ZU1 Wall-Mounted Heat Pump in South Shore
Discover how AirGreen's installation of the Sharp ZU1 Wall-Mounted Heat Pump in South Shore offers energy efficiency, superior air purification, and modern comfort for your home.

In summer, the outdoor unit rejects the house's heat outside.

Mounted level on a wall plate, high enough for the air to reach the whole room, with enough space around it to slide the filters out easily.
The refrigerant lines, the communication cable and the drain go through the wall in a single opening, sealed against water, cold air and insects.
Two insulated copper pipes connect the two units. Outside, a line cover can protect them from sun, knocks and weather.
A shut-off switch near the outdoor unit isolates it safely for service. It must stay accessible at all times.
The compressor and the fan. In heating mode it captures heat from the outdoor air, even in winter, and moves it inside.
On the ground or on the wall, it keeps the unit above accumulated snow. The unit stays clear and defrost water can drain away.
The fan needs to blow freely. Storage, a fence or a wall too close, and efficiency drops while noise goes up.
A Story of Energy Efficiency and Modern Comfort in the South Shore
AirGreen recently completed an exciting HVAC installation project in the South Shore of Montreal, featuring the highly acclaimed Sharp ZU1 Wall-Mounted Heat Pump. This installation is a showcase of our commitment to providing energy-efficient and state-of-the-art solutions to our valued customers. The Sharp ZU1 is not just another heat pump; it represents a blend of advanced technology, environmental responsibility, and superior comfort.
The Perfect Match: Sharp ZU1 for Energy Savings
The Sharp ZU1 model installed at this residence is a 18,000 BTU unit, perfectly suited for the home’s heating and cooling needs. This heat pump is Energy Star® certified, which means it meets strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the EPA. The 24.0 SEER efficiency rating ensures that the system delivers excellent performance while consuming less electricity, making it an ideal choice for homeowners looking to reduce their energy bills.
What sets the Sharp ZU1 apart is its use of the environmentally friendly R-32 refrigerant, which has a lower global warming potential compared to traditional refrigerants. This not only makes the unit more efficient but also aligns with AirGreen's commitment to sustainable practices. The installation also qualifies for a generous $2640 LogisVert Grant by Hydro-Québec, which further emphasizes its energy-saving credentials.
Advanced Technology for Superior Comfort
The Sharp ZU1 is equipped with Plasmacluster™ technology, a unique feature that provides superior air purification. This technology releases positive and negative ions into the air, which bond with and neutralize harmful particles like viruses, bacteria, and allergens. This makes it an excellent choice for households with allergies or respiratory concerns, ensuring clean, healthy air throughout the home.
In addition to Plasmacluster technology, the ZU1 features Coanda airflow control, which ensures even distribution of air throughout the room. This prevents cold or hot spots, providing uniform comfort across all spaces. The system also operates quietly, with an indoor sound pressure level ranging from 25 to 49 dB(A) and an outdoor level of 52 dB(A), ensuring a peaceful environment.
Robust and Reliable: Built for Extreme Conditions
One of the standout features of the Sharp ZU1 is its ability to operate efficiently in extreme temperatures. The unit is designed to heat effectively even when outdoor temperatures drop as low as -27°C. This is achieved through Sharp's innovative Hot Gas Pipe System, which prevents the outdoor compressor from freezing and ensures consistent performance. The system's defrost mode is particularly beneficial during Quebec's harsh winters, as it prevents the buildup of ice and maintains the unit’s efficiency.
Ease of Use and Connectivity
The Sharp ZU1 comes with built-in WiFi, allowing homeowners to control the system remotely via a smartphone app. This app provides real-time information about room temperature, humidity, and energy consumption, enabling users to optimize their system for comfort and efficiency. The app also includes features like remote locking and GPS interlocking, ensuring the system is never left on unnecessarily, thus saving energy.
Comprehensive Warranty and Support
AirGreen offers an extended 10-10-10 warranty on the Sharp ZU1, covering the compressor, parts, and labor for ten years each. This comprehensive warranty is a testament to the quality and reliability of the Sharp brand, providing homeowners with peace of mind knowing they are protected against potential issues.
The Installation: A Seamless Experience
For this project, our skilled technicians carefully planned and executed the installation, ensuring that the Sharp ZU1 was perfectly positioned for optimal performance. The installation involved the distribution of the unit's capacity across various rooms to ensure uniform heating and cooling. The team paid special attention to the placement of the outdoor unit, ensuring it was securely mounted and well-drained to prevent any issues during the winter months.
The Result: A Comfortable and Eco-Friendly Home
The homeowners are delighted with their new Sharp ZU1 Wall-Mounted Heat Pump. The system not only provides exceptional comfort throughout the year but also contributes to lower energy bills and a reduced environmental footprint. The integration of advanced technologies like Plasmacluster and Coanda airflow control ensures that the air quality is top-notch, making the home a healthier and more comfortable place to live.
At AirGreen, we are proud to offer cutting-edge HVAC solutions that cater to the needs of our customers while promoting energy efficiency and sustainability. The installation of the Sharp ZU1 Wall-Mounted Heat Pump is a perfect example of how modern technology can enhance comfort and reduce energy consumption. We invite you to experience the difference with our range of high-quality HVAC products and services.
How it goes, from the first call to the end
The main steps of this kind of job at AirGreen. Every house has its quirks: the estimate brings them out.
We look at the room, the outside wall, the line route and where the outdoor unit will go. That is where the capacity gets chosen.
Model, capacity and price, in writing. We also check whether the model qualifies for assistance programs.
Floors and furniture protected, wall plate position marked level, wall opening located.
A single opening, with the slope the drain needs to flow outside.
Set on a stand raised above the snow, with the clearances the manufacturer requires.
Connected, insulated and protected. The opening is then sealed against water, cold air and insects.
A dedicated circuit and an accessible disconnect near the outdoor unit.
Leak test, vacuum, then start-up and a check of heating and cooling.
Remote, modes, filters: we show you the essentials before we leave.

Data read live from the airgreen.ca page of each size (NEEP / AHRI certified performance). When the title names the installed size, it is highlighted; otherwise the whole range is shown. The aid shown is today’s, using Hydro-Québec’s rule ($120 per 1,000 BTU/h at −8 °C); amounts quoted in the article date from its publication. Only Hydro-Québec confirms the assistance granted.
And at your place?
Two quick checks with real numbers: what heat costs, and what your current heaters add up to in BTU/h.
Baseboards and electric furnaces turn 1 kWh of electricity into 1 kWh of heat. A heat pump delivers more: that is its COP. At Hydro-Québec’s rate D (11.142¢/kWh above 40 kWh a day, since 1 April 2026):
Hydro-Québec: a heat pump can be up to three times more efficient than baseboards for heating in the colder months.
Estimate per kWh of heat, at the chosen temperature, using the certified COP from the product page. Taxes, access charge and backup heat not included.
Conversion: 1 W = 3.412 BTU/h. An indication, not a load calculation: baseboards and furnaces are often stronger than the real need, and they can stay as backup. AirGreen confirms the capacity on site.
