Bosch in Montreal: pick the right generation before the right size
At AirGreen, the Bosch Climate 5000 wall unit comes in two generations. The new one, on R-454B, is ENERGY STAR Cold Climate certified from 12,000 to 24,000 BTU/h: $1,212 to $2,688 in LogisVert according to Hydro-Québec. The older R-410A one is not on the list. For a home with ducts, the IDS R-454B central heat pumps go up to $6,600. Installation in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, the South Shore and the North Shore.

R-454B does not change the brand. It changes eligibility.
As of October 6, 2026, no Canadian or Québec rule bans installing a residential R-410A heat pump. Bosch still renewed its range on R-454B, and it is this new generation that earns the ENERGY STAR certification LogisVert requires.

R-454B’s global warming potential, per ENERGY STAR, is about four times lower.
Bosch sets a minimum room area and a leak detector to check every year. We plan for it at installation.
An R-454B unit cannot be combined with an older R-410A generation, and it is only charged with R-454B.
Bosch warns that recharging an R-410A unit could cost more over time.
“R-410A is banned in Canada.” False.
The federal regulation (SOR/2016-137, current to June 21, 2026) sets a GWP limit of 750 for chillers, not for residential heat pumps, and Québec says its rules do not cover other air conditioning equipment. The switch comes from US rules and Bosch’s own choice for North America.
At -15°C, the Max Performance keeps its heat. The Regular loses some.
ENERGY STAR certified heat at -8°C and -15°C for the R-454B wall units, then the heating limit published by Bosch. Slide the temperature.
Between -15°C and the limit, Bosch says the unit keeps heating, but no body certifies its capacity. We do not make it up. The 30,000 and 36,000 BTU/h Regular wall units heat down to -15°C only.

The Bosch “electric furnace” is the indoor unit
Bosch does not sell a residential electric furnace in Canada. Our 16 “Electric furnace” pages are the BIVA (R-454B) and BVA20 (R-410A) indoor units of the IDS systems: blower and coil, with an electric heat kit for backup on very cold days. LogisVert pays for the complete system once.
