ColorTouch T7850
Temperature, Wi-Fi, scheduling. No humidity control.
- Up to 4 heat and 2 cool stages
- Heat pump, dual fuel, gas or electric
- One wired sensor input (SENSOR)
Same colour screen, same built-in Wi-Fi, up to 4 heat and 2 cool stages on 24 V. In Venstar’s own chart, the T7900 adds one thing: humidity control.
Everything else is the same. Tell us what the thermostat should control on top of heating and cooling.
Only the T7900 controls humidity. The rest of the chart is the same.

Describe your system: the planner puts each function on the terminal Venstar’s manual gives, and refuses what does not fit.
Based on the T7900 manual (P/N 88-1088, 04/15): W1/O/B, W2 and W3 for stages 1 to 3 of conventional heat; Y1 and Y2 for compressors; W2 and W3 for heat pump backup; W3/AUX set to heating, humidification or dehumidification. Venstar’s diagrams show no 4th conventional stage: quoted case by case.
Venstar designs the ColorTouch and publishes its wiring rules. AirGreen helps you pick the model that follows them, on quotation. Each does what it does best.
The result: a ColorTouch picked for your system, price on quotation.
Colour touch screen (4.3 in. per the T7850 submittal), 5.25 × 4 × 1.1 in. housing, built-in Wi-Fi. Venstar’s manuals present both as residential models.

Temperature, Wi-Fi, scheduling. No humidity control.

Everything in the T7850, plus humidity control through the W3/AUX output.
One wired SENSOR input: remote, averaged with the thermostat, outdoor, supply air or return air (T7850 and T7900 manuals). Accessories: venstar.com, read Oct. 20, 2026.
Morning, day, evening, night: a heating and cooling setpoint per period, day by day or by group of days. Or no schedule at all: your choice.
Free mobile app and SkyWeb site: setpoints, schedules, alerts.
Amazon Alexa and Google Home, according to Venstar.
For home automation on the home network.
Filter, UV lamp, service call; humidifier pad on the T7900.
Passcode screen lock and setpoint limits.
Vacation mode and Away button; daylight saving preset, synced through Skyport.
What Venstar’s documents and the programs themselves say, as of October 20, 2026.
No Venstar on the certified smart thermostat list.
The rebate requires an ENERGY STAR thermostat on its PEE-104 and PEE-204 lists: Venstar is not there.
Guide v1.10 covers heat pumps, not thermostats.
Compatible devices: Honeywell Home, Mysa and Sinopé.
In Venstar’s ColorTouch chart, the two models share 17 of 18 rows. Only the T7900 controls humidification, dehumidification and reheat. The T7850 manual mentions a built-in humidity sensor, but Venstar’s sales sheet reserves the indoor humidity display for the T7900.
No. Venstar’s quick start guide is clear: if the system is labelled 120 V or 240 V, or you see large thick wires and wire nuts, do not proceed. The ColorTouch is a 24 V thermostat for a furnace, central heat pump or central air conditioner.
Yes. Venstar requires the R and C wires (24 VAC) on both models. If a wire is missing, the manual suggests a new cable or the Add-A-Wire accessory, except on a 2-wire heat-only system, where another wire must be pulled.
Yes: up to 2 compressors and 0 to 2 auxiliary stages, for a total of 4 heat stages. With electric backup, Venstar lets both auxiliary stages run while the heat pump is heating.
It is supported, for heat pumps only. The switch to the furnace follows the outdoor temperature, with an ACC-TSEN sensor on the SENSOR terminal, or, in Venstar’s 2-compressor diagram, a 3rd-stage demand. The balance point is set from 0 to 60 °F (about -18 to 16 °C).
The T7900 has a single humidity output, W3/AUX, set to heating, humidification or dehumidification. A humidifier and a separate dehumidifier cannot share that output, and the manual does not show this setup: quoted case by case.
Yes, built into both models (2.4 GHz), with the free Skyport app and SkyWeb site. No module to add; in the same family, the T7800 is the one without Wi-Fi.
Venstar lists Amazon Alexa and Google Home for the ColorTouch, through the Skyport account.
The thermostat has one wired SENSOR input: remote, averaged with the thermostat, outdoor, supply air or return air. Venstar also offers a Wi-Fi sensor (ACC-TSENWIFI). The manuals give no maximum number of Wi-Fi sensors.
Venstar’s: one year from the original installation, parts only (new or remanufactured). Labour and shipping are excluded, and the warranty is void if the unit is reinstalled elsewhere.
None found as of October 20, 2026. No Venstar is on the ENERGY STAR smart thermostat list, so there is no Énergir rebate, which requires it. LogisVert does not cover thermostats and Hilo does not list Venstar.
Yes: English, Spanish or French, your choice, on both models.
Venstar is a thermostat maker founded in 1992 in California, owned by Daikin Comfort Technologies North America since December 2022. Venstar sells through authorized distributors; its map lists Trane Supply in Laval and Québec City.
