Windair heat pump or air conditioner: one letter makes all the difference
Windair Series 17, in 12,000 and 18,000 BTU. Per our product sheets, same size means the same dimensions and piping: the H in the model heats down to -20 °C, the C only cools.

What people ask us about Windair
What is the difference between the Windair heat pump and air conditioner?
The heat pump (DWGH models) heats and cools. The air conditioner (DWGC models) only cools. Per our product sheets, at the same size, both have the same dimensions, piping and sound level.
Down to what temperature does the Windair heat pump heat?
Down to -20 °C, per the Windair Series 17 brochure and our product sheets. For colder days, plan another heat source.
Do Windair units qualify for LogisVert?
No. As of October 13, 2026, no Windair unit is on Hydro-Québec’s list. LogisVert requires an ENERGY STAR certified heat pump (guide v1.10, September 15, 2026), and a cooling-only air conditioner is not a heat pump.
Are Windair units ENERGY STAR certified?
No. As of October 13, 2026, the ENERGY STAR ductless heat pump database lists no Windair system.
What is the warranty?
On quotation. We have no dated Windair warranty document to publish here: ask for the written terms before you sign.
Is Wi-Fi included?
No, it is optional on all four models.
What refrigerant do they use?
R-410A, on all four models.
12,000 or 18,000 BTU: how do I choose?
It depends on the room, the insulation, the windows and the ceiling height. We work it out on site, at the free estimate.
Are they noisy?
Per our product sheets: 28 to 42 dB(A) indoors and 50 dB(A) outdoors for the 12,000 BTU; 35 to 47 dB(A) and 56 dB(A) for the 18,000 BTU.
How much room does the indoor unit take?
Per our product sheets: 33.25 in wide for the 12,000 BTU and 38.2 in for the 18,000 BTU, plus the installation manual’s clearances, confirmed at the estimate.
