Senville clearly indicates heating operation down to -22 °F, or approximately -30 °C.

Imagine that a room loses 7,500 BTU/h when the outdoor temperature reaches -30 °C.
If the heat pump can then produce approximately 5,100 BTU/h maximum, about 2,400 BTU/h of heat loss remains to be covered by another heating source.
That is why we never present the statement “heating down to -30 °C” as a guarantee that the unit can heat any room on its own at that temperature.
Sizing must compare:
- the heat pump’s available capacity;
- the space’s actual heat loss;
- the outdoor temperature.

The first issue is physical.
The indoor unit is more than 50 inches long.
We must therefore determine not only where the cassette will be visible, but also in which direction the unit body can be positioned above the ceiling.
A 90-degree difference in orientation can make the difference between a simple installation and an impossible one because of the joists.
Drainage is one of the most sensitive aspects of a cassette
Every heat pump produces condensation in cooling mode.
With a wall-mounted head installed on an exterior wall, the drain can sometimes exit almost directly outdoors.
With a cassette located farther into the room, it is often necessary to travel several feet before reaching a drainage point.
We must therefore examine:
- the available slope;
- the unit height;
- the pipe route;
- obstacles;
- future access;
- the possibility of servicing.
A ceiling drainage problem can have much more serious consequences than an improperly positioned wall drain, since a leak can damage the drywall, paint, or furniture located directly below the unit.

Why the piping route may be longer than with a wall-mounted heat pump

The visual distance between the two units is therefore never sufficient to estimate the piping length.
