Quick facts
9 kW on the wall to heat an entire unit with hot water
Montreal plexes and condos
In many Montreal plexes and Laval condos, each unit has its own hot water heating: radiators, hydronic baseboards, sometimes a radiant floor. When the old floor-standing electric boiler reaches the end of its life, replacing it with a wall-mounted appliance frees up space in a storage room or laundry room that is already tight. Thermo 2000’s Mini BTH 9 was designed for this kind of unit.
The size for whole units
With 9 kW, or 30,708 BTU/h at 240 V, the Mini BTH 9 goes beyond a simple backup zone and can heat an entire unit, depending on its heat loss. It runs on two identical 4.5 kW elements spread over two stages: the aquastats bring them on according to demand and an indicator light per element shows what is heating. Its cabinet holds only 1 US gal of water and mounts on the wall, in several positions.
Water can be set from 50 °F to 190 °F (10 °C to 90 °C). That range covers radiators, which need hot water, as well as radiant floors, which work at a lower temperature. On flow, Thermo 2000 publishes 6.1 US gpm at a 10 °F difference, or 3.0 US gpm at 20 °F, with negligible pressure drop. The manufacturer also presents it as backup for a heat pump, a geothermal or a solar system.
Electrical, control and safety
At 240 V, the appliance draws 37.5 A; Thermo 2000 specifies a 50 A breaker and Cu 8 or Al 6 wire. Many apartment buildings are supplied at 208 V: in that case, the boiler gives 6.7 kW (32.6 A), and we take that into account when choosing the size. The Mini BTH has no outdoor sensor. A switch turns the appliance off, a 24 V supply serves the thermostat, and two high temperature limits, automatic at 208 °F (98 °C) and manual at 227 °F (108 °C), protect the boiler. The maximum working pressure is 30 psi (207 kPa).
Installation by AirGreen
We start with a free on-site estimate, then you receive a written quote that includes the circulator and the expansion tank, which are not included with the boiler. Our technicians remove the old electric boiler, mount the Mini BTH, connect its four 3/4 in NPT connections to the existing system, install the supplied 30 psi relief valve and temperature and pressure gauge, then make the electrical and thermostat connections. They fill, bleed the air from the radiators or baseboards and check the heating with you.
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, holding RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 in ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work. Thermo 2000 warrants the tank for 15 years and the electrical and mechanical components for 2 years.
Replace your boiler
We install the Mini BTH in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, on the North Shore and on the South Shore. Ask for your free estimate: the quote is in writing and financing is available.
Hot water heat for a whole unit, without a floor-standing boiler
The Mini BTH 9 heats the water of a hydronic circuit with two 4.5 kW elements, brought on in stages according to demand. It mounts on the wall, where a floor-standing boiler used to take up space.
- Plex unit heated by radiators
- Condo with hydronic baseboards
- Small house with a radiant floor
- Backup for a heat pump, a geothermal or a solar system

Frequently asked questions
Can it supply cast-iron radiators?
Yes. It sets the water from 50 °F to 190 °F (10 °C to 90 °C) and Thermo 2000 intends it for radiators as well as baseboards and radiant floors. We check that 9 kW is enough for the unit and that the flow suits the existing system.
Can it replace my old floor-standing electric boiler?
Often, if the output matches the unit’s heat loss. It mounts on the wall and frees up floor space. We confirm it during the free estimate.
What electrical connection is needed?
A 240 V circuit with a 50 A breaker and Cu 8 or Al 6 wire; the appliance draws 37.5 A. At 208 V, it gives 6.7 kW (32.6 A).
What is supplied?
The 30 psi relief valve, the drain valve, the temperature and pressure gauge and the installation manual. The circulator and expansion tank are not included.
What warranty does Thermo 2000 offer?
15 years on the tank and 2 years on electrical and mechanical components, in Canada and the United States.
