The name says 17,000 BTU: that's the unit's size class. Amana publishes 16,400 BTU/h at 230 V and 16,700 at 208 V, the supply in many buildings.
5,000 WThe heater that heats the room
At Amana, the two digits after the series letter (the ** in PTC173J**AXXX) set the heater when ordering: 1.5, 2.5, 3.5 or 5.0 kW at 230 V, 1.3 to 4.1 kW at 208 V. At 5.0 kW it takes a 6-30P plug on 30 A; at 3.5 kW, a 6-20P on 20 A. It heats the room all winter.
