GENERAL AIRSTAGE AGU12RLF 12,000 BTU Floor Console Heat Pump: the plex living room that keeps its mouldings intact
The GENERAL AIRSTAGE 12,000 BTU and its Fujitsu AIRSTAGE twin are one and the same machine. The AGU12RLF indoor console and the AOU12RLFFH outdoor unit are identical under both names and come from the same manufacturer, which has been called GENERAL Inc. since January 1, 2026. AHRI certificate 6937310, ENERGY STAR, cold climate, warranty: no difference.
We recommend it for a room you find on every street corner in Villeray: the double living room of a plex, with its plaster walls, its ceiling mouldings and its large front windows. Hanging a white wall-mounted head in the middle of a plaster wall, right under an original cornice, breaks the décor you took care to preserve. The floor console, on the other hand, stays low, under the window, at the height where the radiator used to be.
This placement is no compromise. The AGU12RLF blows from the top and the bottom at the same time: it handles the living room from the bottom of the wall, without asking anything of the upper walls or the ceiling. The mouldings stay intact, and the eye lands on the room, not on the appliance.
GENERAL or Fujitsu AIRSTAGE: the same machine
Fujitsu General Limited took the name GENERAL Inc. on January 1, 2026, following its acquisition by Paloma Rheem Holdings in August 2025. The factories remain the same, as do the Kawasaki research centre, the AIRSTAGE range, the model numbers and the warranty program. The GENERAL trademark has been in use since 1946. The company itself was founded in 1936 and marks the 90th anniversary of its founding in 2026.
The Fujitsu name is fading out little by little, but for a while the same machine is sold under both names. Groupe Master remains our distributor, and Rheem Canada has handled sales in the country since February 2026. Rather than choose for you, we display both pages, and the table that follows puts them side by side.

The other label has its own page: Fujitsu AIRSTAGE 12,000 BTU floor console.
A plex living room has its own character: large windows that let heat escape in winter and sun pour in during summer, high ceilings, often an opening onto the dining room. That is where the dual airflow makes sense. According to the manufacturer, the two outlets, one at the top and one at the bottom, are there to heat or cool the whole room quickly. The lower outlet sends air gliding across the floor, the upper outlet sends it toward the middle of the room, while the auto-swing louver moves up and down to mix the air. Airflow is 353 CFM. For the warm season, the "upper airflow only" setting keeps the cool air up high, away from the ankles of whoever is watching a movie on the sofa.
The heating values, each at its own test point and presented as is:
- −8 °C: rated capacity of 10,600 BTU, COP of 2.61;
- −15 °C: 13,400 BTU according to NEEP, COP of 1.9;
- −26 °C, coldest certified point: 14,000 BTU, COP of 1.37.
These three measurements come from different protocols and are not compared with one another. For a Villeray plex, the essential point lies elsewhere: the heat pump keeps heating down to −26 °C, and ENERGY STAR grants it the cold climate designation (ID 2409915). In cooling, the SEER2 is 22.7 and the EER2 is 13.1; the HSPF2, which measures heating efficiency over the season, comes in at 11.0.
The living room is also the room where people talk, read, and keep the TV on low. The indoor unit runs at 23 dB(A) at its lowest speed and 40 dB(A) at its highest. The outdoor unit is rated at 53 dB(A); in a plex, it usually goes on the yard side or the lane side, and the exact location is decided in the quote. Montreal's humid summers are felt in the living room, and the console answers with a dehumidification capacity of 3.8 pints/h.
Plaster walls call for a careful hand. You can choose: the console installs under a standard window, simply set against the wall, or half-recessed into it; that last option requires insulation supplied on site and is assessed according to the condition of the plaster. If an old radiator still sits under the window, the console can take its place, and its removal is planned in the quote. The refrigerant line, the power cable and the drain connect the indoor unit to the outdoor unit; we lay out the route so it does not run along the mouldings. Drain water flows by gravity or goes through a condensate pump, a choice the quote specifies.
Outside, the AOU12RLFFH unit sits on a base or a bracket, and commissioning is done by a refrigeration technician. On the electrical side: 208/230 V, MCA of 12 A (the minimum circuit ampacity) and MOP of 15 A (the maximum overcurrent protection). Piping connections are 1/4 and 3/8 in, for R-410A refrigerant.
As for controls, we confirm in the quote the control method chosen: remote control, or optional Wi-Fi to adjust the living room from a phone.
The functions that are useful in a living area:
- automatic changeover between heating and cooling, for April evenings when the afternoon sun gives way to the cold;
- the 24-hour timer, so the living room is at the right temperature when you get home from work;
- powerful mode, which pushes airflow and compressor speed to the maximum for 20 minutes, before guests arrive;
- economy mode, for days when the house is empty;
- minimum heat mode, which keeps the room at 10 °C during a trip in the middle of winter;
- automatic restart after a power outage, welcome during an ice storm;
- the sleep timer, if the living room doubles as a spare bedroom.
For maintenance, the console relies on an apple-catechin filter, paired with a washable ion deodorizing filter. Washing it restores its effectiveness, a habit that matters in a living room open to the kitchen.
Good news for the budget: this model appears on Hydro-Québec's LogisVert list of October 27, 2026, with a grant of $1,272. We check eligibility with you at the quote stage. The warranty, identical under both brands, covers the compressor for 12 years, parts for 12 years and labour for 6 years.
This console is made for:
- Villeray plex owners who are restoring an original living room and refuse to see a wall-mounted head in it;
- double living rooms with large windows, where the bottom of the wall is the only free space;
- walls covered with frames, bookshelves or artwork that you do not want to strip bare;
- occupants who want to heat and cool the same room with a single discreet appliance.
AirGreen, an RBQ-licensed HVAC contractor and AIRSTAGE Elite Plus installer, takes care of the complete installation, from the console to the outdoor unit, and sets up the machine with you once it is running.
