GENERAL AIRSTAGE AGU15RLF 15,000 BTU Floor Console Heat Pump: the sunroom turned four-season room

Before anything else, one clarification: under the GENERAL AIRSTAGE plate as under that of its Fujitsu AIRSTAGE twin, the 15,000 BTU console is the same. Either way, you get the AGU15RLF indoor console and the AOU15RLFFH outdoor unit, designed by the same manufacturer, renamed GENERAL Inc. on January 1, 2026. The certifications (AHRI 6937311, ENERGY STAR, cold climate) and the warranty do not change one bit.

This page is about sunrooms and enclosed verandas that people finally want to live in twelve months a year. In these rooms, the upper walls are nothing but windows. There is nowhere to hang a wall-mounted head, and the only free space is the strip of wall under the glass. A floor console is designed for exactly that spot.

Glass also creates a comfort challenge in every season. In winter, heat slips out through the panes; in summer, the sun turns the room into a greenhouse. A heat pump that heats and cools from the bottom of the wall, blowing along the windows, tackles both at once.

GENERAL or Fujitsu AIRSTAGE: the same machine

In August 2025, Paloma Rheem Holdings, which has owned Rheem since 1988, acquired Fujitsu General. On January 1, 2026, the company became GENERAL Inc., without touching what matters to you: head office and R&D centre in Kawasaki, the same factories, the same AIRSTAGE products, the same model numbers, the same warranty program. The Fujitsu name is being withdrawn little by little, and during this shift from one brand to the other, the machine is sold under both labels.

Before talking performance, grab a tape measure. The console has to fit within the height of the knee wall under your windows, and its exact dimensions are in the table. The manufacturer provides for installation under a standard window, against the wall or half-recessed. The half-recessed installation, for which insulation is supplied on site, is assessed according to how the knee wall is built.

Once the console is in place, the dual airflow does the rest. Air comes out at two heights: the upper outlet projects it in front of the glass, the lower outlet spreads it across the floor, and the louver, on automatic up-and-down swing, finishes the job. Airflow is 383 CFM. In July, when the sun hits the glass, you switch to "upper airflow only": the cool air heads for the top of the room.

The heating values to remember, each at its own test point:

• rated capacity at −8 °C: 11,600 BTU, with a COP of 2.62;
• NEEP value at −15 °C: 18,100 BTU, with a COP of 1.84;
• at the coldest certified point, −26 °C: 15,500 BTU, with a COP of 1.55.

Each figure comes from its own test protocol; we present them separately, without linking them. What you need to know for a sunroom: heating holds down to −26 °C, and the console carries the ENERGY STAR cold climate designation, under ID 2409926. For the warm season, count on a SEER2 of 20.3 and an EER2 of 12.5; for seasonal heating, on an HSPF2 of 10.5.

A sunroom also builds up humidity, especially if it is home to plants. The console dehumidifies at a rate of 4.4 pints/h, which helps keep the room pleasant in the middle of summer.

On noise, the indoor unit runs between 23 dB(A), at its lowest, and 44 dB(A), at full speed. Outside, the AOU15RLFFH unit is rated at 54 dB(A). We choose its location with you, often next to the sunroom, to keep the refrigerant line route short.

The modes that really serve a four-season room:

• minimum heat mode, which holds the room at 10 °C during the weeks you do not use it, and keeps plants safe from frost;
• powerful mode, which runs the console at full airflow and the compressor at full speed for 20 minutes, to warm the sunroom on a January morning;
• automatic heating/cooling changeover, made for a glassed-in room that can be hot at noon and cold at dinnertime;
• economy mode and the 24-hour timer, to condition the room only during the hours you are in it;
• the sleep timer, for summer nights spent in the sunroom;
• automatic restart after a power outage, which spares you from finding an ice-cold room after a cut.

For the installation, three elements link the console to the outdoor unit: the refrigerant line, the power cable and the drain. Depending on the route, condensate water drains by gravity or with the help of a condensate pump; the quote specifies which. The outdoor unit rests on a bracket or a base, and commissioning is entrusted to a refrigeration technician. Electrical data: 208/230 V, MCA of 15 A and MOP of 20 A. Piping connections: 1/4 and 1/2 in; refrigerant: R-410A.

Controls are chosen with you: the control method, remote control or optional Wi-Fi, is settled in the quote. Wi-Fi lets you start heating the sunroom from the kitchen, or from the office.

Maintenance comes down to two filters. The first is an apple-catechin filter; the second, an ion deodorizing filter, gets its effectiveness back once washed. With plants all over the room, this regular upkeep makes a difference.

As for the budget, the AGU15RLF appears on Hydro-Québec's LogisVert list dated October 27, 2026: a $1,392 grant. We validate your project's eligibility at the quote stage. The warranty is the same as with the Fujitsu plate: 12 years for the compressor, 12 years for parts, 6 years for labour.
