GENERAL AIRSTAGE AGU9RLF 9,000 BTU Floor Console Heat Pump: warmth under the bedroom window, away from the pillow
First things first. The GENERAL AIRSTAGE 9,000 BTU is the same machine as its Fujitsu AIRSTAGE twin: the same floor console AGU9RLF, the same AOU9RLFFH outdoor unit. The manufacturer has not changed; it was renamed GENERAL Inc. on January 1, 2026. The AHRI certificate 6937309, the ENERGY STAR certification, the cold-climate designation and the warranty are identical from one page to the other.
This page is about one specific room: the bedroom where an old electric baseboard still runs under the window. It is often the coldest corner of the room, and it is also the one stretch of wall nobody puts furniture against. The AGU9RLF console goes exactly there, at the bottom of the wall, in place of the baseboard that comes out. The bed stays where it is, and the machine stays well away from the sleeper's head.
In a bedroom, a wall-mounted head often ends up above the bed or right beside it, for lack of a better wall. The airflow then lands on the pillows. Set at floor level, under the glass, the console sends its heat where the cold comes in, and the room warms up without a draft on your face.
GENERAL or Fujitsu AIRSTAGE: the same machine
The change is legal, not technical. Paloma Rheem Holdings, owner of Rheem since 1988, acquired Fujitsu General in August 2025; Fujitsu General Limited then became GENERAL Inc. on January 1, 2026. The head office and the research and development centre are still in Kawasaki, Japan, the factories have not moved and neither have the model numbers. In Canada, Rheem Canada has handled sales since February 2026, and Groupe Master remains our distributor.
The Fujitsu brand is being phased out gradually, and during the transition the same console is sold under two names. So we publish both pages: you pick the label you trust, the machine does not change. The table lines up the values row by row.

The twin page is here: Fujitsu AIRSTAGE 9,000 BTU floor console.
A closed bedroom needs little power, but it needs it at the worst time: at night, when it is coldest outside and you want the least noise inside. At its lowest speed, the indoor unit drops to 23 dB(A); at full speed, it reaches 40 dB(A). The outdoor unit is rated at 50 dB(A). Because the console works under the window rather than above the bed, that murmur stays at the far end of the room.
For heating, here are the certified values, each measured at its own test point:
- at −8 °C, the rated heating capacity is 7,500 BTU, with a COP of 2.82;
- at −15 °C, NEEP lists 13,400 BTU and a COP of 1.9;
- at −26 °C, the coldest certified point, the console delivers 11,000 BTU with a COP of 1.56.
These figures come from different protocols: we give them as they are, without setting them against each other. What matters to you is that this heat pump heats down to −26 °C and carries the ENERGY STAR cold climate designation. In cooling, its SEER2 reaches 26.0 and its EER2 sits at 16.0; for seasonal heating, the HSPF2 stands at 11.6.
The dual airflow makes all the difference in a bedroom. The console blows through one outlet at the top and one at the bottom: part of the air glides along the floor, the rest rises in front of the window, and the automatic louver swings up and down to spread it all. Airflow reaches 353 CFM. In summer, the "upper airflow only" setting sends the cool air toward the ceiling instead of pushing it along the floor, toward the bed. Its dehumidification capacity, 2.7 pints/h, is a real plus in a second-floor bedroom in July.
The functions that earn their keep at night and in the morning:
- the sleep timer, designed for bedtime;
- the 24-hour timer, so the bedroom is warm when you get up without heating it all day;
- economy mode, for mild nights;
- automatic heating/cooling changeover, useful in May and September, when a cool night follows a hot day;
- automatic restart after a power outage, which puts the console back in operation without anyone touching it;
- minimum heat mode, which holds the room at 10 °C, handy for a guest room kept closed over the winter;
- powerful mode: 20 minutes at maximum airflow and compressor speed, for when you walk into an ice-cold bedroom.
At your place, once the baseboard is out, the console takes its spot under the window; removing the baseboard and the electrical connection are planned at the quote stage. Three installations are possible: against the wall, under a standard window, or half-recessed into the wall, an option that requires insulation supplied on site. At 7.88 in deep, the console stays discreet under the window sill. Between the indoor unit and the outdoor unit run the refrigerant line, the power cable and the drain. Drainage is by gravity or by condensate pump, depending on the route, and we specify it in the quote.
Outside, the AOU9RLFFH unit goes on a base or a bracket, then a refrigeration technician commissions the system. Power supply is 208/230 V; the electrical data show a minimum circuit ampacity (MCA) of 12 A and a maximum overcurrent protection (MOP) of 15 A. Piping is 1/4 and 3/8 in, and the refrigerant is R-410A.
As for controls, the control method (remote control, optional Wi-Fi) is confirmed in the quote. With Wi-Fi, the bedroom can be adjusted from a phone before you even climb the stairs.
Maintenance is simple. The console carries two filters: an apple-catechin filter and an ion deodorizing filter, which you wash to restore its effectiveness. In a room where you sleep every night, clean filters matter.
One point to know before you sign: the 9,000 BTU console is not listed on Hydro-Québec's LogisVert list of October 27, 2026. It therefore qualifies for no LogisVert grant under that list, and we will not promise you one. Its certifications, on the other hand, are solid: ENERGY STAR (ID 2409909), cold climate and AHRI 6937309, the same as on the Fujitsu twin. The warranty follows the machine, whatever name is on the front: 12 years on the compressor, 12 years on parts and 6 years on labour.
This console suits above all:
- the bedroom of a Rosemont plex where the baseboard still sits under the window;
- a child's bedroom, where a low machine away from the bed is preferable to a head hung above it;
- the guest room kept closed in winter, which you want to temper without heating it fully;
- light sleepers, for whom every decibel counts at night.
As an AIRSTAGE Elite Plus installer and an RBQ-licensed HVAC contractor, AirGreen installs the console, the outdoor unit and everything that connects them, then checks the operation with you before leaving.
