In a hotel room, a tourist accommodation suite, a building hallway or a waiting room, it is not up to the occupant to decide whether the system heats or cools: that decision belongs to the manager. The GENERAL AIRSTAGE UTY-RHRYZ1 simplified wall controller was designed for these places. It removes operating mode selection and leaves occupants the bare essentials: on/off, fan speed and setpoint temperature. It is the same part as the UTY-RHRYZ1 in the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE range, the manufacturer Fujitsu General Limited having taken the name GENERAL Inc. on January 1, 2026.

The switch from Fujitsu to GENERAL stems from the manufacturer's acquisition by Paloma Rheem Holdings. For you, nothing changes: same factories, same AIRSTAGE range, same model number on the box. While the Fujitsu brand gives way to GENERAL, the part is sold under both names, and AirGreen, an authorized GENERAL and Fujitsu AIRSTAGE dealer, carries this GENERAL model in parallel with the same part under the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE brand.

Lodging and shared spaces: the mode stays in the manager's hands

This design settles a situation managers know well: the guest who puts the unit in cooling in the middle of February, or the unit that heats while its neighbour cools. With the UTY-RHRYZ1, the mode is managed at the system level, and each occupant adjusts their comfort within a setpoint range limited by the manager. The end result: fewer service calls, less wasted energy and satisfied guests.

It is compatible with 2-wire AIRSTAGE H-Series indoor units and with TLAV, TLAV1, TLAV2, KSA1 and KSA2 DRV (VRF) systems. Each controller manages up to 16 indoor units, and a single group can bring together up to 4 controllers: you can therefore put a control at each of the entrances to a large hall. Power comes from the indoor unit, over the 2-wire link. This model succeeds the former UTY-RHRY.

What the occupant controls

The large backlit LCD screen presents the room temperature, error codes, defrost status, filter alerts and the unit's address. The occupant adjusts the setpoint in 1 °F steps, selects the fan speed and directs the vertical louvres. As for the built-in temperature sensor, it takes its reading where the controller is mounted, at occupant height.

The defrost display earns its keep in the depths of a Québec winter. When the heat pump defrosts its outdoor coil, the indoor unit briefly stops blowing warm air; the guest sees on the screen that everything is normal and does not call the front desk.

Safety alerts

Like the UTY-RSRYZ1, this Z1 version adds refrigerant leak notification, accompanied by audible and visual alerts, as well as a sensor replacement alert. In a hotel or a building, the maintenance staff can thus step in quickly and bring in a technician.

The RHRYZ1 or another AIRSTAGE controller

The UTY-RHRYZ1 and the UTY-RSRYZ1 rest on the same base: backlit screen, built-in sensor and refrigerant leak alerts. What separates them comes down to a single button: the RSRYZ1 lets you choose the mode, the RHRYZ1 does not. In a house or a private office, the RSRYZ1 is the better fit. In a hotel, a seniors' residence, a furnished rental building or common areas, the RHRYZ1 prevents handling mistakes. Managers who want weekly programming and a service menu will look instead to the UTY-RNRUZ5, with its touch screen, while the KAGAMI UTY-RVRU offers upscale establishments a hotel mode with a custom logo.

A job planned room by room

In a lodging establishment or a building, the installation is planned room by room: survey of the indoor units, cable routes, location of each controller, unit addressing and any groupings. Our technicians connect and mount the controllers, carry out the test run and set the setpoint limits to apply with the manager. The work can be organized by floors or by sections, so as to disturb guests and occupants as little as possible.

Less wasted energy

In winter, the limited setpoint range stops a guest from overheating a room before opening the window. And since the mode is decided centrally, two neighbouring units can no longer pull in opposite directions. These two very simple measures cut consumption without hurting perceived comfort.

In a residential building, the same logic applies to hallways, entrance halls and common rooms, which are often overheated because anyone can touch the setpoint. Once the range is narrowed, residents passing through find a pleasant temperature, but never beyond what the manager considers reasonable. And since the controller is powered by the indoor unit, there is no battery to change from one room to the next, a very concrete advantage when you manage dozens of rooms.

Examples of use

  1. Hotels and inns: each room has its own controller, the setpoint range is capped and the establishment keeps control of the mode.
  2. Seniors' residences: a very simple control, with no risk of switching to cooling by mistake in the heart of winter.
  3. Furnished rentals and short-term lodging: occupants come and go, so the settings stay limited.
  4. Common areas and waiting rooms: a group can include up to 4 controllers, so one can be placed at each access point.

Maintenance

Keep an eye on the filter alerts shown on the screen and plan filter cleaning according to foot traffic. The screens are wiped with a soft, dry cloth. When a refrigerant leak alert or a sensor replacement alert appears, call on our technicians.
