Most heat pumps lose most of their capacity when the mercury drops below -25 °C. The 24,000 BTU GREE Crossover R32 retains 18,200 BTU/h, or 92% of what it delivers at -8 °C, with a COP of 1.78. By far, it performs best in extreme cold across the entire range of GREE ducted units, which is why we recommend this model to homeowners who genuinely want to reduce their dependence on supplemental electric heating, not merely ease it during milder weather.

You have to read this list backward to understand the unit. The SEER2 of 19.5 is the lowest in the Crossover range, and that is intentional: the machine is optimized to maintain its heating capacity rather than maximize a cooling rating. If your priority is your summer electricity bill, the 18,000 BTU model posts 22.5. If your priority is getting through January without the baseboard heaters taking over, this is the model.

This is the highest financial assistance amount in the Crossover range for an owner of an existing home, and it follows directly from the cold-climate designation and the capacity retained at low temperatures: Hydro-Québec calculates the assistance based on the unit's actual performance in the cold, not its size. We confirm the amount using Hydro-Québec's official tool when preparing your application, since it depends on the installation date.
1,030 CFM, and what that means for your ductwork
The maximum airflow reaches 1,030 CFM. That is enough to supply five to six grilles on a full floor, or serve two levels of a cottage from a single unit installed in a basement ceiling.
It is also an amount of air that requires a network designed for it. That much airflow through ducts that are too small creates velocity, and velocity creates duct noise. We size the main sections and branches to stay below acoustic thresholds, and we provide sufficient return air - a point many installations neglect, resulting in a unit that struggles and grilles that whistle.
An honest note about the airflow display
The airflow gauge in our technical specifications is graduated up to 700 CFM. At 1,030, this unit maxes it out. The actual value is the one shown in the table, not the one suggested by the gauge.
Dehumidification
4.23 pints of water per hour, the highest capacity in the Crossover range. In a large space, that is what lets you stay at 24 °C in July without feeling clammy, so you do not have to lower the setpoint to compensate.
Noise
Indoor unit: 27 to 41 dB(A). Outdoor unit: 58 dB(A) - surprisingly one decibel lower than the 18,000 BTU model, despite the larger compressor. Placement remains critical: away from bedroom windows, on vibration-isolating pads, with sufficient clearance to prevent the discharged hot air from being drawn back in.

Indoor unit: 44.48 x 29.69 x 11.81 inches. Outdoor unit: 37.72 x 15.83 x 25.98 inches. Connection: 1/4 - 5/8 inch.
Electrical requirements: 220 V, 22 A MCA, 30 A MOP. These values come from the outdoor unit, as they should. A 30 A circuit is not insignificant on an already loaded 100 A panel: we check the remaining capacity during the quote stage and, if an upgrade to 200 A is needed, you know before signing rather than on the day of the work.
R-32 refrigerant
Approximately three times lower global warming potential than R-410A, better heat transfer, and a reduced charge for the same capacity. Our technicians are trained for A2L refrigerants and equipped accordingly.
