The Only Model in the Range Capable of Heating an Entire House
The 24,000 BTU GREE Extreme R32 delivers 21,000 BTU/h at -15°C and maintains 19,100 BTU/h down to -30°C. These are the two highest outputs of all the ducted R-32 systems we install, and they change the nature of the conversation: we are no longer talking about a unit that reduces a heating bill, but one that can become a home's primary heating source, with electric backup needed only during peak periods.

The 1.81 COP at -30°C deserves attention. At the lowest temperature covered by the certificate, the unit still delivers nearly twice the energy it consumes. An electric baseboard heater, by contrast, remains one-to-one regardless of the outdoor temperature. This difference matters on the night of January 20, and that is exactly where most heat pumps give up.
$2,400 from LogisVert, the Highest Amount in the Range
This model qualifies for $2,400 in financial assistance for an owner of an existing home, with the cold climate designation that provides access to the program's bonus. The amount directly reflects the capacity maintained at low temperatures: Hydro-Québec assesses certified cold-weather performance, not the unit's size. We verify it using Hydro-Québec's official tool when preparing the application, since it depends on the installation date.
Size It for a House, Not a Room
At this capacity, load calculations are no longer a formality. A well-insulated 1,400-square-foot home built in the 2000s and a 1,400-square-foot home from 1955 with its original windows do not have the same heating load, and the difference often exceeds 40%. We calculate the load room by room before recommending this capacity, and sometimes conclude that an 18,000 BTU unit is sufficient - which costs you less to purchase and performs better in use.
Oversizing is the issue we correct most often in installations completed elsewhere. An oversized unit reaches the setpoint too quickly, shuts off, restarts, and never dehumidifies properly in summer.
Air Distribution: 1,030 CFM
The maximum airflow of 1,030 CFM can serve five to six grilles, or even two levels from a single unit installed in a basement ceiling. It is also an airflow that requires ducts sized for it: generous main sections, large-radius bends, and adequate return air. Air pushed too quickly through an undersized duct creates noise, and that noise cannot be corrected afterward.
Note that the airflow gauge in our technical sheets tops out at 700 CFM; at 1,030, this unit exceeds its range. The exact value is the one shown in the table.
Humidity and Acoustics
Moisture removal of 4.23 pints of water per hour. Indoor unit rated at 27 to 41 dB(A). Outdoor unit rated at 62 dB(A), the loudest in the range - the price of a compressor that operates at -30°C. Placement therefore becomes a real consideration: we choose the location with you, away from bedrooms and neighboring windows, on anti-vibration mounts.
Installation Data
Indoor unit: 44.48 x 29.69 x 11.81 inches. Outdoor unit: 39.38 x 16.81 x 29.38 inches, the largest cabinet in the range - allow sufficient clearance, especially in a narrow backyard. Connection: 1/4 - 5/8 inch.
220 V power supply, 26 A MCA, 30 A MOP, outdoor unit values. On a 100 A panel that is already heavily loaded, a 30 A circuit may require an upgrade to 200 A. We inspect the panel before preparing a quote so that, if applicable, this cost appears in the estimate rather than on an additional invoice.
R-32 and Warranty
R-32 refrigerant, A2L class, with low global warming potential. Ten-year manufacturer's warranty on the compressor and parts, with possible extension to labor.
