GENERAL AIRSTAGE J-7S Mini-VRF 36,000 BTU with 3 indoor units: one Heat Pump, three treatment rooms
This GENERAL AIRSTAGE J-7S system is the same machine as the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE twin in our catalogue: the same 3-ton AOUK036SSAN7 outdoor unit, connected here to three indoor units. The manufacturer has not changed, only its name: Fujitsu General Limited became GENERAL Inc. on January 1, 2026. The manufacturer's brochure is identical, and so is the warranty.
We built this page for clinics and professional offices: physiotherapy, dentistry, chiropractic, small healthcare practices. In those spaces, a single temperature satisfies nobody. A patient lying on a treatment table, often partly undressed, gets cold long before the therapist working on their feet. Reception takes the draft from the door every time a patient walks in. The dental operatory, with its lights and equipment, warms up while the waiting room stays cool. Three indoor units, three zones, three settings that stay out of each other's way.
In a commercial space with a suspended ceiling, the cleanest answer is often the compact cassette. It fits the grid of a standard suspended ceiling, and its built-in condensate drain pump lifts the water to the drain, which gives some latitude when there is no natural slope above the room.
GENERAL or Fujitsu AIRSTAGE: the same machine
The story is short: Paloma Rheem Holdings, owner of Rheem since 1988, buys Fujitsu General Limited in August 2025, and the company adopts the name GENERAL Inc. on January 1, 2026. The head office and the research and development centre stayed in Kawasaki, Japan, the factories are the same, and the AIRSTAGE model numbers have not changed by a single character. The Fujitsu brand is gradually leaving the nameplates; in the meantime, one machine circulates under two names.
That is why we publish both pages with the same values, so you can see it for yourself before you sign. Rheem Canada has handled Canadian sales since February 2026 and Groupe Master remains our distributor: for AirGreen, an AIRSTAGE Elite Plus installer, supply and the warranty program stay the ones we know.

To check every line of this table, open the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE J-7S page with three indoor units.
A variable refrigerant flow (VRF) heat pump system rests on a simple idea: one outdoor unit, several indoor units, and a compressor that meters refrigerant according to what each room asks for. On this 3-ton unit, the J-7S accepts up to nine indoor units; your office uses three. Those indoor units, like the range's accessories, only work with a J-7S outdoor unit.
Each room gets the unit that suits it, chosen at the visit from four families:
- Compact cassette AUUA***KSA1 for the treatment rooms: it lines up with the grid of a standard suspended ceiling, clears its condensate with its built-in pump and offers 6 fan speeds, from 4,000 to 18,000 BTU/h.
- Wall-mounted ASUA***KSA1 for the closed office with a drywall ceiling: 4,000 to 14,000 BTU/h, 6 fan speeds, louvers that sweep the air on their own and a quiet mode that drops to 22 dB(A) during a consultation.
- Slim ducted ARUL***KSA1 for the waiting room: hidden above the ceiling in its 198 mm (7-13/16 in.) of height, it pushes air to the grilles at 0.36 in. WC, over 6 fan speeds, from 4,000 to 18,000 BTU/h.
- Multi-position air handler ARUX***KSA1, in S, M or L chassis, 12,000 to 60,000 BTU/h, with 0.8 in. WC and 3 fan speeds: it serves large volumes fed by a duct network, rarely a three-room office.
The total capacity of the three units must respect the outdoor unit. We set it at the visit, room by room, based on windows, equipment and patient traffic. No combination is promised before the visit.
The three rooms share a system whose SEER2 reaches 21.7, with an HSPF2 of 10.8 and an EER2 of 13.6: those are this unit's values. The higher figures in the brochure (SEER2 up to 22.2, HSPF2 up to 11.3, EER2 up to 15.7, COP2 up to 4.64) are the maximums of the J-7S series. In heating, the spec sheet lists 26,200 BTU at −8 °C, 36,400 BTU at −15 °C and a COP of 2.14 at −15 °C; these are separate test points, reproduced as published.
A clinic that opens early in January can't wait for the building to warm up. The manufacturer rates heating down to −26 °C, with no lockout at low temperature, and the outdoor unit has a built-in base pan heater against ice buildup. This system also holds ENERGY STAR cold climate certification. In summer, cooling stays reliable up to 50 °C outdoors, a welcome margin for a flat roof or an asphalt yard in full sun.
In a healthcare setting, refrigerant deserves a clear answer. The J-7S circuit holds R-32, a low global warming potential refrigerant: 12% less refrigerant than in the previous generation, and never more than 6 kg (13.2 lb) for the whole system, cassettes included. Ducted units have a built-in leak detection sensor; for cassettes and wall units, a sensor kit is optional. For a closed treatment room, two options deserve your attention: the gas sensor kit, which triggers an audible and visual alarm, and the refrigerant shut-off valve kit, fitted with backup power.
For controls, each room can have its own wired controller, wired touch controller or wireless remote, all optional. Reception can keep a central remote controller, a system controller or a touch panel controller to switch everything off at the end of the day without walking through every room. An optional Wi-Fi connection can help whoever opens the clinic in the morning.
Installation is done by our refrigeration technicians. The outdoor unit, 998 mm (39-5/16 in.) high, fits below a window or on a balcony under the railing height; it produces 57 dB(A) outdoors. The refrigerant piping (3/8 and 5/8 in. for the main piping) and the cable reach the cassettes above the suspended ceiling; condensate is routed to a building drain. The routing and the position of each unit are set at the visit. Your electrician will plan a 208/230 V circuit set up for an MCA of 29 A and an MOP of 30 A.
Maintenance is scheduled outside appointment hours: filter cleaning, a check of the condensate pump and drain, inspection of the outdoor unit. The warranty covers the compressor and parts for 12 years and labour for 6 years, whether the nameplate says GENERAL or Fujitsu. For the grant file, keep three references: AHRI certificate 216372781 on the Hydro-Québec list, ENERGY STAR ID 3813050 and the $3,144 that the LogisVert list of October 27, 2026 assigns to this outdoor unit. Hydro-Québec applies its own eligibility rules: for a commercial space, check them before putting that amount in your budget.
This system is meant for the three-room physiotherapy clinic, the dental office with two chairs and a reception desk, the optometry or psychology office in a commercial building. If you have more rooms, the same outdoor unit comes in pages with four to nine indoor units.
