Healthy Climate HCWB3-17 Humidifier | Installation in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, South Shore and North Shore
Is it the right size for your home?
It puts 17 gallons of water a day into the air (with 49 °C (120 °F) furnace air), enough to humidify up to 2,000 sq ft according to the manufacturer. Pick your home's living area.
It's the right size.
For a 900 to 1,500 sq ft house, it's within its range. It will run at part load on ordinary days and keep a reserve for the coldest days.
Area published by Lennox for an average-construction home with 8 ft ceilings. For a very tight home, Lennox gives 4,000 sq ft. Older or leaky house: go one size up; our estimator confirms it on site.
What it does, in numbers
Output: manufacturer's spec (17 gal/day, with 49 °C (120 °F) furnace air).
What you should know about this one
Published, verifiable figures, not brochure claims.
17 galWhat it produces per day, at full output
About 64 litres of water turned into humidity in 24 hours. The control runs it to match the humidity you set: it rarely runs flat out, except in very cold weather.
Heat pumpBehind a heat pump, it produces less
It evaporates water from a pad using the heat of the air coming off the furnace. A heat pump blows cooler air, so it evaporates less. With a heat pump, talk to our estimator: depending on the manufacturer, we connect it to hot water or suggest a steam model instead.
10 in.The opening it needs
A 10 × 12¾ in. opening on the supply or return, and a 6 in. bypass duct. Built-in summer-winter damper.
Hot waterRequired with a heat pump
With a heat pump, Lennox requires it to be fed hot water.
0.4 in.A pressure limit
Lennox doesn't allow it where the pressure difference between supply and return exceeds 0.4 in. of water column.
ControlThe control that comes with it
Mechanical manual humidistat (15 to 50% range), on the wall or the return duct.
UpkeepWhat gets replaced, and when
Healthy Climate X2661 (#35) water panel, replace once a year.
35%The humidity to aim for in winter, at most
At −7 °C, no more than 35%; at −18 °C, no more than 25%. Above that, the moisture condenses on the windows. The control adjusts for you if it has an outdoor sensor.
5 yearsThe parts warranty
Parts are covered for 5 years by the manufacturer. We register the warranty in your name at start-up.

Healthy Climate HCWB3-17: 17 gal/day and the large #35 pad
The HCWB3-17 is the Healthy Climate bypass humidifier by Lennox in its larger size. It puts out 17 gal/day with 120 °F (49 °C) furnace air and suits up to 2,000 sq ft according to the manufacturer, for an average-construction home with 8 ft ceilings.
HCWB3-17 or HCWB3-12
The number in the model gives its output: 17 gal/day here, 12 for the HCWB3-12. The -17 takes a larger pad, the X2661 (#35), the same as in the fan-powered HCWP3-18, and a 10 × 12¾ in. opening instead of 9½ × 9½ in. With no letter, it comes with the mechanical manual humidistat, adjustable from 15 to 50%, which goes on the wall or the return duct. The HCWB3-17A has an automatic control with outdoor sensor instead.
What it needs on site
A 6 in. bypass duct, on the supply or return plenum, a water supply and a drain; the summer-winter damper is built in. With a heat pump, Lennox requires a hot-water supply. Lennox doesn't allow it where the pressure difference between supply and return exceeds 0.4 in. of water column. The pad is replaced once a year.
