GENERAL AIRSTAGE ALTAIR 300 12,000 BTU in 115 V: the renamed Fujitsu Mini Split Heat Pump that equips a rental unit or a Longueuil plex without heavy electrical work

A plex owner in Longueuil does a calculation before equipping an apartment: the price of the unit, the installation day, and above all what the electrician will have to redo at the panel. The GENERAL AIRSTAGE ALTAIR 300 12,000 BTU lightens the third item: it runs on 115 V, with a minimum circuit ampacity of 14 A and a maximum overcurrent protection of 20 A, on an ordinary dedicated circuit rather than a 208/230 V line. It is, to the letter on the box, the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE ALTAIR 300: indoor unit ASLH12KNAS, outdoor unit AOLH12KNAS1, AHRI certificate 215422284, the same values certified by NEEP, the same warranty of 12 years on the compressor, 12 years on parts and 6 years on labour. The manufacturer, Fujitsu General Limited, has been called GENERAL Inc. since January 1, 2026.

It is a current-generation mini split on R-32 refrigerant, whose values are certified by NEEP. Its heating is guaranteed down to −15 °C, enough to bring down the tenant's electricity bill in mid-season, and its air conditioning settles the July requests before they arrive. It is neither ENERGY STAR certified nor listed for LogisVert, and we would rather say so here than at the bottom of the page.

So this page is addressed to the landlord, in Longueuil as elsewhere on the South Shore, who wants a simple unit, undemanding on the panel, installed in one day, and that the tenant can maintain between two visits from our refrigeration technician.

GENERAL or Fujitsu AIRSTAGE: the same machine

Nothing has moved in Kawasaki, Japan: the head office, the research and development centre, the factories, the AIRSTAGE products, the model numbers and the warranty program are those of before. What changed is the shareholder and the name. Paloma Rheem Holdings, owner of Rheem since 1988, acquired Fujitsu General in August 2025, and on January 1, 2026 Fujitsu General Limited became GENERAL Inc., taking up a name it has used as a trademark since 1946; the company, founded in 1936, marks the 90th anniversary of its founding in 2026. In Canada, Rheem Canada has handled sales since February 2026; Groupe Master remains our distributor, and AirGreen remains an AIRSTAGE Elite Plus installer.

The withdrawal of the Fujitsu logo happens at the pace of deliveries. A landlord who already has a Fujitsu ALTAIR 300 in one apartment and wants a second for the apartment next door may receive a GENERAL box: it is the same unit, and both pages are there so that they can see it, value by value.

Product pageThis pageFujitsu AIRSTAGE ALTAIR 300 12,000 BTU

The page under the original name, Fujitsu AIRSTAGE ALTAIR 300 12,000 BTU (115 V), is still online and shows the same values.

115 V: what it spares the landlord. In a Longueuil plex, an apartment's panel is often full, and running a 208/230 V circuit to the living room means opening walls, sometimes crossing the apartment below. The ALTAIR 300 12,000 BTU runs on 115 V: it needs a dedicated circuit, with a minimum ampacity of 14 A and a maximum protection of 20 A, the same type as those already feeding the apartment's outlets. The licensed electrician has less distance to cover, the tenant puts up with less work, and the installation wraps up within the same day. We look at the panel at quote time to confirm there is still a spot for the breaker, because a dedicated circuit is not negotiable.

Heating down to −15 °C, and what it is worth to a tenant. The values come from NEEP, under AHRI certificate 215422284. At −8 °C, at its certified operating point, the unit delivers 7,500 BTU/h with a COP of 2.62: more than two and a half units of heat per unit of electricity, where a baseboard returns one. At −15 °C, it supplies 8,200 BTU/h, 68% of its nominal size, with a COP of 2.18. Its heating is guaranteed down to −15 °C; below that, the apartment's baseboards take over. For a tenant who pays their own electricity, that means a living room heated at lower cost throughout mid-season and on ordinary winter days, and baseboards that only run in the coldest weather. For the landlord, it is a concrete selling point in the apartment listing.

Modulation, noise and airflow. The ALTAIR 300 does not run all-or-nothing: at −15 °C, its certified minimum capacity goes down to 1,400 BTU/h, and at 8 °C to 3,100 BTU/h. Once the room is at the setpoint, it slows down instead of stopping and restarting, which keeps the temperature stable and goes easy on the compressor. The HSPF2 of 9.0 quantifies efficiency over the whole heating season, heat delivered divided by electricity consumed; the SEER2 of 17.0 and the EER2 of 10.15 do the same for cooling, with 365 CFM of airflow to cover a living room or a double room of an apartment. The indoor unit runs between 20 and 41 dB(A), the outdoor unit at 48 dB(A). The vertical louvers are motorized and sweep the room; the horizontal direction is set by hand, once and for all, at installation. Wi-Fi is optional: we add it if you or your tenant want it.

The installation in an occupied apartment. We install a ductless mini split in one day, coordinating access with the tenant. Here is the sequence:

  • The visit: we confirm the capacity for the living room, the available wall, the line route and the room at the panel, and we hand you a written quote.
  • The wall unit: high up, on an exterior wall preferably, oriented so the air sweeps the room without blowing on the couch.
  • The outdoor unit: on a wall bracket or a pad, above the snow, with the required clearance for air and defrost water, away from the bedroom windows of the other apartments.
  • The line and the drain: insulated 1/4 and 3/8 in copper in a line cover, condensate drained by gravity or, if the slope is lacking, by condensate pump, decided before the day of the work.
  • Electrical: a dedicated 115 V circuit connected by a licensed electrician, with protection of 20 A at most according to the manufacturer's requirements.
  • Commissioning: nitrogen leak test, vacuum, start-up, supply-air temperature check and an explanation of the settings and the filters to the tenant.

The maintenance the tenant can do, and the part that falls to us. The indoor filters come out by hand, rinse under water and go back in dry; it is a step we show the tenant at commissioning, and it keeps the airflow and the efficiency. The rest falls to a refrigeration technician: an annual visit for the R-32 refrigerant charge, the coil, the pan and the drain, and the electrical connections. In a building with several apartments, we group the services into the same visit.

Certifications and grant. The ALTAIR 300 12,000 BTU in 115 V is not ENERGY STAR certified and is not on the list of heat pumps eligible for Hydro-Québec's LogisVert program according to the list of October 27, 2026; we promise you no amount for this model. For a rental unit, it is often the purchase price and the absence of electrical work that decide; if you prefer a listed model, we price it as well.

Who this model is for. The owner of a duplex or triplex in Longueuil, Saint-Hubert or Brossard who equips an apartment before re-renting it; the owner-occupant who cools the upper apartment they rent out, with a panel that is already well filled; the living room of an apartment where the heating stays on baseboards and where an efficient boost down to −15 °C is wanted. If the apartment must be heated by the heat pump at −26 °C, or if the room exceeds what a 12,000 BTU covers, we will propose another series at the time of the visit.
