15 000 BTU Mini Split GENERAL AIRSTAGE LZAH1 in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, South Shore and North Shore
GENERAL AIRSTAGE LZAH1 15,000 BTU Wall-Mounted Heat Pump: −26 °C, LogisVert and a single head for the living-dining room of a South Shore duplex
ASUG15LZBS for the indoor unit, AOUG15LZAH1 for the outdoor unit, AHRI certificate 206597213: those three numbers belong to the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE LZAH1 15,000 BTU, and they are exactly the numbers of the GENERAL AIRSTAGE LZAH1 described here. There are not two machines, there is only one, built by the same manufacturer, which was called Fujitsu General Limited and became GENERAL Inc. on January 1, 2026. Same certified values, same ENERGY STAR cold-climate label, same warranty of 12 years on the compressor, 12 years on parts and 6 years on labour. Only the logo on the carton changes, and even then, not everywhere at once.
We present this model through a room we know well on the South Shore: the living-dining room of a duplex in Longueuil or Brossard. A double room, often running front to back, with the kitchen opening onto it, a staircase or a hallway pulling the heat toward the bedrooms, and a single logical wall for a wall-mounted heat pump. In that case, three figures make the decision: 15,000 BTU of nominal capacity, certified heating down to −26 °C and a $1,344 LogisVert grant. We go through each one below, with what it is worth once the unit is on your wall.
GENERAL or Fujitsu AIRSTAGE: the same machine
The name changed because the owner changed. In August 2025, Paloma Rheem Holdings, which has owned Rheem since 1988, acquired Fujitsu General; on January 1, 2026, Fujitsu General Limited became GENERAL Inc. Nothing moved on the manufacturing side: the head office and the research and development centre are still in Kawasaki, Japan, the factories are the same, and the AIRSTAGE line keeps its model numbers and its warranty program. GENERAL is not a name invented for the occasion: it has been in use as a trademark since 1946, and the company, founded in 1936, celebrates the 90th anniversary of its founding in 2026. In Canada, sales have gone through Rheem Canada since February 2026, and Groupe Master remains our distributor.
The Fujitsu brand is gradually being withdrawn from the equipment, but during the transition the same heat pump is sold under both names. That is why we keep both pages online. You choose the label; we install the same machine, with the same warranty and the same parts. The table below lines up the two versions, row by row.

Sizing a double room without getting it wrong. A duplex living-dining room is often the largest room in the unit, and it is the one that heats everything else through the bedroom doors. With 15,000 BTU of nominal capacity, this model covers that kind of space without having to run flat out; and in mild weather, its certified maximum capacity climbs to 23,900 BTU/h at 8 °C, 59% more than its nominal size. That reserve serves to bring the temperature back up quickly after a day at a reduced setpoint or a dinner with the patio door open. Between peaks, the compressor modulates: once the setpoint is reached, it slows down instead of stopping and restarting, and the temperature does not make waves.
What −26 °C means in Longueuil in January. The values that follow come from NEEP, the cold-climate heat pump database, under AHRI certificate 206597213. At −8 °C, the temperature of an ordinary December morning, the unit delivers 11,200 BTU/h with a COP of 3.16: three units of heat and a little more for each unit of electricity, where a baseboard returns only one. At −15 °C, it rises to 17,500 BTU/h, more than its nominal capacity, with a COP of 2.34; that is the best efficiency in the whole LZAH1 family at that temperature, the other sizes sitting between 2.00 and 2.16. And at −26 °C, the coldest point of its certification, it still delivers up to 16,300 BTU/h with a COP of 1.66. In other words, on the coldest night of a normal year on the South Shore, the double room stays heated by the heat pump, and the baseboards left in the unit serve as a safety net, not as the main heating.
The HSPF2 of 12.7 sums all of that up over a full season: it is the ratio between the heat delivered and the electricity consumed, from fall to spring, and the higher it is, the less you pay for the same comfort. For summer, the SEER2 of 25.3 and the EER2 of 13.9 play the same role in air conditioning; a double room facing the afternoon sun cools down without the meter racing, and the unit dehumidifies at the same time.
The LogisVert grant. The model carries the ENERGY STAR cold-climate label (ID 2417195) and appears on the list of heat pumps eligible for Hydro-Québec's LogisVert program, for $1,344 according to the list of October 27, 2026. That list is revised regularly; we confirm the amount at quote time, and our invoice names both units and the AHRI number so that your application is complete.
Noise, in a shared house. The indoor unit runs between 26 and 45 dB(A) depending on fan speed; at low speed, it disappears behind a conversation. The outdoor unit runs at 50 dB(A), a figure to take seriously in a duplex, where the unit often ends up under the neighbour's bedroom window or next to their balcony. The Wi-Fi module is optional on this model: if you want to schedule and control the unit from your phone, tell us at quote time and we add it.
How the installation goes in a duplex. A wall-mounted heat pump needs no ductwork. Our refrigeration technicians run the refrigerant line, the cable and the drain through a single hole in the wall, and the day almost always follows the same order:
- The wall for the head: high up, on the long side of the living room, oriented to blow along the room toward the dining area rather than at the sofa.
- The outdoor unit: on a wall bracket at the back or on a ground pad, raised above the snow, away from bedroom windows, with room for air and for defrost water.
- The refrigerant line: insulated 1/4 and 1/2 in copper, protected by a line cover outdoors, with as few bends as possible.
- The drain: by gravity to the outside; when the slope will not work, we install a condensate pump and we tell you before, not after.
- Electrical: a dedicated 208/230 V circuit at the unit's panel, connected by a licensed electrician; our estimator looks at the panel at quote time so there are no surprises.
- Start-up: nitrogen leak test, vacuum, start-up, supply-air temperature check and a walk through the remote with you.
Maintenance and filters. The indoor filters pull out by hand and rinse under warm water; in a room where people cook, they clog faster than elsewhere, and regular rinsing keeps the airflow and efficiency at their certified level. Outside, clear the snow around the unit after each snowfall and let it run its defrost cycles: the steam that comes off it in deep cold is normal. An annual visit by a refrigeration technician checks the R-410A refrigerant charge and cleans the coil and the drain pan.
Who this model suits. The owner-occupant of a Longueuil or Brossard duplex who wants to cover the living area with a single wall head and heat with the heat pump rather than the baseboards, winter included. If your living-dining room is closed off by a door, if the ceiling is very high or if you also want to heat the bedrooms at the end of the hallway, we will see it on site and tell you frankly whether another format does the job better.
