GENERAL AIRSTAGE CENTAURI 36,000 BTU Ceiling Cassette Heat Pump: for the multipurpose halls of organizations, parishes and community centres
A community hall lives by its calendar. Almost empty during the week, it hosts a fundraising dinner on Saturday, a general meeting on Sunday afternoon, a dance class on Tuesday evening, and its tables move every time. The GENERAL AIRSTAGE CENTAURI 36,000 BTU is the cassette we install for this kind of hall. Under another name, it is the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE CENTAURI 36,000 BTU. The two units, the ceiling cassette AUUH36KUAS and the outdoor unit AOUH36KUAS1, share their twin's AHRI certificate 215434555, certifications and warranty: 12 years compressor, 12 years parts, 6 years labour.
The manufacturer only changed its corporate name: on January 1, 2026, Fujitsu General Limited took the name GENERAL Inc. For a board of directors, a parish council or a volunteer committee that has to justify every expense, the distinction matters: the model, its certificate and its warranty do not change with the logo.
A ceiling cassette simplifies what the calendar complicates. It takes no space on the walls, where the chairs get stacked and the stage gets set up; it does not mind the tables pushed against the partitions; and it spreads air across the whole hall, whatever the evening's layout.
GENERAL or Fujitsu AIRSTAGE: the same machine
The GENERAL name comes with a change of owner. Paloma Rheem Holdings, parent company of Rheem since 1988, took control of Fujitsu General in August 2025, and the group's companies took their new names at the start of 2026. The group has moved neither the head office nor R&D, still in Kawasaki, Japan, nor the factories; AIRSTAGE products keep their model numbers and their warranty program. Rheem Canada has managed sales in the country since February 2026; on our side, Groupe Master remains the distributor that supplies us.
During the transition, the unit is marketed under both names and the Fujitsu logo is gradually fading out. A quote that circulates among several committee members may therefore mention either one; we keep both product pages online so that everyone can see it is the same equipment. The row-by-row comparison follows.

The same machine, under the Fujitsu name: Fujitsu AIRSTAGE CENTAURI 36,000 BTU. The AHRI certificate, the values and the warranty are identical there.
The load of a reception hall varies more than that of any house. Empty, it asks for almost nothing; full, it takes in the heat and humidity of the guests, the lighting and the caterer. At 3 tons, the CENTAURI 36,000 BTU offers a serious reserve for a hall that fills up all at once, provided the load calculation confirms it. Its airflow reaches 1,118 CFM, blown out of several sides of the grille along the ceiling and drawn back in at the centre: the air reaches the whole hall instead of stopping at the first row of tables. Dehumidification of up to 7.8 pints/h removes the moisture of a dance evening before it fogs up the windows.
Noise matters during speeches, homilies and school performances. At low speed, the indoor unit runs at 34 dB(A); at full speed, when the hall is packed and the music is loud, it rises to 45 dB(A). Outside, the outdoor unit runs at 57 dB(A): we place it away from the forecourt, the main entrance and the immediate neighbours, on a raised base and sheltered from snow sliding off the roof.
In winter, the task is to heat, at a reasonable cost, a hall that stays closed for a good part of the week. What the Heat Pump delivers in cold weather appears on NEEP (ashp.neep.org), where AHRI certificate 215434555 is published with its certified values. At −8 °C, the test's reference value, it provides 25,400 BTU with a COP of 3.13. At −15 °C, it can go up to 31,000 BTU, with a COP of 2.12, and at −21 °C, the last step of its guaranteed heating, it still produces up to 27,000 BTU with a COP of 2.02. COP is the number of units of heat obtained for each unit of electricity paid for: even at the coldest point of the certification, the hall receives roughly double, in heat, what it pays for in electricity. The HSPF2 of 10.5 gives the average over the heating season, and the model's ENERGY STAR certification includes the cold-climate designation. With the Wi-Fi option, the caretaker or a volunteer can lower the setpoint between two activities and raise it before an event without making the trip.
In summer, the SEER2 of 21.3 puts a number on what cooling consumes over a summer, and the EER2 of 11.2 on efficiency at the hottest, on the day a wedding or an end-of-year party fills the hall in June.
A cassette goes into a finished ceiling, suspended or drywall. A nave with a cathedral ceiling or an exposed structure is not its place, and we say so at the visit if that is the case; the basement hall or the reception room with a suspended ceiling, on the other hand, are well suited. Its cabinet measures 33.07 in. by 33.07 in., at 11.34 in. high, and belongs to the large format: too big for a 2 ft × 2 ft cell, it needs enough ceiling cavity. Here is the job, in order:
- adapting the grid of the suspended ceiling around the unit, or opening the drywall to the size of the cabinet, with a hatch for maintenance;
- routing the refrigerant line, 3/8 and 5/8 in, along with the cable and the drain, above the ceiling to the outdoor unit;
- a sloped drain, or a condensate pump where the route calls for one, with the solution specified in the quote, like the choice of finishing grille and control method;
- a dedicated electrical circuit, provided for an MCA of 21 A and an MOP of 25 A;
- commissioning: tightness check, evacuation, switch-on, airflow measurement and a short training session for the caretaker or the volunteers in charge.
We set the dates with the person who manages the hall's calendar, to avoid days that are already booked.
In an organization, maintenance often rests on volunteers who change from one year to the next. The cassette's filters come out through the grille; they are washed with water, dried and put back, a task a caretaker learns in a single demonstration. For the rest, our refrigeration technician takes care of it during maintenance visits: coil, condensate pan and drain, outdoor unit and R-32 charge.
LogisVert, the Hydro-Québec program, lists this model at $3,048 on its October 27, 2026 list. For an organization, a parish or a community centre, the building and the applicant decide eligibility: it is best to check it together before the committee writes that amount into its budget. The list changes; the amount, if it applies, is confirmed in the quote, with both models and the AHRI certificate set out in black and white on the invoice.
The CENTAURI 36,000 BTU suits the parish hall, the church basement, the hall of a seniors' club, a neighbourhood association or a community centre, anywhere a single large room is rented, lent and transformed from week to week. It also serves private reception halls. A useful note for the committee: our HVAC quotes name the exact models and the AHRI certificate, which makes it possible to compare offers on an equal footing and to record the decision in the minutes.
A comfortable community hall in Sainte-Julie and on the South Shore
AirGreen installs the CENTAURI 36,000 BTU in Sainte-Julie and throughout the South Shore, in Longueuil, Montreal, Laval and on the North Shore. As an AIRSTAGE Elite Plus installer, we come to see the hall, the ceiling and the location for the outdoor unit, then we provide a free, detailed quote, ready to be presented to the board.
The number to call: 514 316-2973. If the decision is made by several people, we can meet the committee on site.
